Check in: We arrived at 11am and was welcomed at the Hilton honors desk by Melissa who was very helpful. Got our bay club room straight away and the children enjoyed the free cookies on arrival. We then had a guy take us to the room on a golf buggy with our bags and suitcases brought to the room. Top class service. Room: Bay club twin room with two double beds and a sofa bed. Very clean and tidy throughout our stay room 4243. Giant bathroom with huge bath and a big veranda with two chairs a table and settee lounger. Niggles: The beds were quite hard compared to other Hilton hotels that we have stayed at in Dubai. Tv would randomly switch off after a few minutes and it only stayed switched on, on the welcome page. Had to ask every day for either milk, coffee or sugar as the cleaner didn't top them up. Some days we had no clean towels and when you asked the cleaner they would reply with "in two hours" and then bring them really late or not at all. Bay club pool: Most of the holiday was spent at this pool due to it being close to the room. A good size pool but quite deep for little ones. Life guard on duty at all times unless he was helping out with towels. Bar at the side of the pool was very busy there was always a queue but the staff were very friendly. You could order snacks from the bar too. Lilo's were allowed. Toilets were at the side of the building too. Niggles: Very hard to get a lounger unless you reserved it at 6am. Other hotel users going into the pool when it was supposed to be for bay club only. My husband and both children got an ear infection two days before we left and they didn't use any other pool. So I was a little worried over the cleanliness of the pool. They have never had this problem before. Dining areas: Quite a good selection of salads, cheese, deserts, pizza was made on request and pasta. We ate in the normal dining area and the bay club. I am gluten intolerant and found that the head chef was great going around all the foods explaining what I could and couldn't eat. They would have a pre made gluten free desert for me too, but I did have to ask the head dessert chef. I would ask a member of staff for the head chef at the main kitchen door. Don't ask anyone with a white kitchen attire as they don't have knowledge of intolerances. Look for the black uniform. Niggles: The dinning areas where very busy bordering on too busy. You had to queue every day at the food stations and people would push in. The children's station food selection was awful. Puréed vegetables and pasta in what looked like milk. my children didn't eat from it all holiday. Most of the food was repeated quite a lot. The ice cream station needs more attention as the children mix up all the ice creams by using the same scoop and then the scoop is placed in a jug of murky water, I didn't see them change the water throughout each session. Beach: A lovely private beach with plenty of sun loungers, pirate water park was great with life guards on duty. water sport centre was good too we did the parasailing and it was fantastic. Sea water was very warm with little fish, hermit crabs and star fish. Niggles: No towels or a long wait after 2pm for them to be washed and dried. It would be nice to have a bar on the beach as the pirate pool bar gets really busy with a ten minute wait for drinks every time you go to the bar. The umbrellas were not the best and I had two that were broken, when the wind blew one over it was dangerous. They are very heavy. Brasserie restaurant: Very nice restaurant, pleasant staff, the best steak I have ever tasted. Top marks to the chef. Niggles: Only one toilet for the entire restaurant! Yet another queue. Last but not least, Kids Club: We checked the children in with their name, age, nationality Time of entry, my phone number and where I would be in the event of an accident, all good. A few computer stations with x boxes, a cinema screen with bean bags, face painting and drawing also a climbing wall and puzzle stations. My kids loved it. Niggles: After signing my children in. A boy was allowed in without being signed in and proceeded to turn off the computers, this caused the children great annoyance and said boy started to hit the children whilst we were there. We spoke to the staff and there response was that he was there to pick up his brother. And that they had warned him that they would tell security next time. The same boy caused trouble the next day and they still allowed him to enter. This needs looking into as I didn't feel like I could leave my children in the kids club without me staying to watch them. Other than that it was a nice hotel and I would stay again. Collapse

Yes Marjan island is an hour from Dubai. Yes the island is remote with not a lot in the area, but it says all this in the brochure! For the idiots that have said there is nothing to do, it's to far out, it's not a 5 star hotel obviously do not have any intelligence. This is a great relaxing location away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff, restaurants, rooms and amenities are all excellent. For a family hotel not to fused about going into Dubai City everyday you could not ask for more ! Collapse

We stayed there as a family 2+2. We upgraded our room to Bay club room which was much more spacious and luxurious. The resort has enough swimming pools, great beach and great facilities for kinds. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room service took by accident the teddy bear and pyjama of one kid together with bed linens to the laundry. After two days searching they found it and delivered back to our room. The food in two restaurants included in our all inclusive package was outstanding. Great variety and quality of meals. There are few small things that could be improved: the evening animation by Russian girls could be better organized and bit more professional. The same remark about the swimming pool animations. It could be much more professional although the guy from the water aerobic did a good job. Also at the pool the music from the pool bar was suddenly mixed with the music from the pool disco by the animation team, this could be organized better. To conclude great resort and holiday destination, perfect for families and couples. Collapse

We were unfortunate to choose this hotel for a few days before leaving the UAE, having lived there for a number of years. This choice proved to be so disappointing as the hotel is awful. From the chaotic check-in to the 'upgrade' to our grubby soulless room which seemed miles from anywhere, to the different 'all-inclusive' levels and canteen style food, I would not recommend the hotel to anyone. Meals were utterly chaotic with people everywhere and generally a bizarre collection of food items, much of which was cold. One breakfast, I told a manager (I guess that's what he was as he was wearing a suit, but he didn't seem to be managing much) that the eggs benedict (or its non-pork equivalent) was stone cold when I collected it - he simply said he would inform the chef, no apology and certainly no offer of getting a hot one. One day we actually drove out of the hotel to go somewhere and get some decent lunch, despite being on the all-inclusive package. The service around the pools was non-existent, the bar staff aloof and unfriendly and the whole area generally dirty and unkempt. Lunch options in the pool area were a joke and literally took forever. Drink selection for the standard all-inclusive package was poor and so limiting on what you could have. One night they had a couple of singers outside as entertainment - it sounded like karaoke night, they really were that bad. Overall I would not wish a stay at this hotel on my worst enemy, it really was that bad. I'd give zero as a mark if that were an option. Hilton should be ashamed to put their name to it. Collapse
