The hotel was extremely comfortable. The staff went out of there way to make us so welcome. The room was clean and the cleaners very pleasant and helpful. The pools and gym were extremely clean. The food was delicious and we were continually offered drinks and refreshments. The concierge team were very efficient and supported us with our bags on arrival and also on departure. At 5.00 pm we were offered a picnic breakfast which was a nice gesture. We only had two evenings of entertainment and I would recommend music in the lobby bar as it was so busy with the bad weather. It would have been lovely to have had a singer in there. The driver from the hotel who took us back to the airport could not have been more helpful. Thank you for a enjoyable stay. Collapse

The Doubletree is a nice resort on the lovely Marjan Island in RAK. There is a nice beach view from just about everywhere, including the room and the restaurants and bars. We had a great balcony with a beautiful ocean view where I could have sat and stared for a week. The food in the breakfast buffet was nice with plenty of variety. This is a beautiful facility, but my critique is that it’s the kind of place where they know how to build a nice hotel, but they still have a bit to learn about running a nice hotel. Yes, the welcome cookies are nice, but they don’t make up for some rather glaring flaws. For example, the connected light switches in our room were defective so that you couldn't turn on the bathroom lights without turning on the lights in the whole room. We had four people in the room, so this was a real problem when someone got up in the middle of the night. I called to report it three (3) times – once at night, once the next morning, and again the next evening. Each time they said they'd send someone up to take care of it right away, but no one ever came. Finally, as we were about to check out, I called again (call #4) to tell them about the lights, and this time two fellows from engineering came up right as we were leaving. In spite of my attempts to get it rectified over the last 48 hours, they said that no one had informed them prior to my most recent call. They provide in room coffee which is nice, but there were only two capsules, so I called housekeeping to ask for a few more. Again they said they'd be right up, but again, no one came. Thus, I feel that the facility itself is great, but the team running it needs more training. There are some very nice services like the buggies which will transport you around, and the staff were always very friendly. I wish them well and hope that they have much success going forward. The resort has a lot of potential to be a really great get-away for local and international guests. They just need to polish a few rough edges. Collapse

After a few hours here we realised we had made a mistake. The hotel seems to target European package holidaymakers, and there were lots of families with young children all on an all inclusive package. The main buffet restaurant with it's rows of plastic looking tables had all the atmosphere of a works canteen and at times was incredibly noisy. There are 2 supposedly gourmet restaurants, we tried the french one and the food was inedible so we did not bother again. The only redeeming feature was chatting to Unnikrishnan and Archana , staff in the Crown and Anchor pub onsite. We were often the only customers and had a couple of pleasant evenings there. They were both very friendly and were sorry to hear of our disappointment with the hotel. So if you have a young family and don't mind a bit of a bun fight at mealtimes this may be the place for you. But if you are a couple looking for a relaxing 5 star beach resort then this is not the place. Collapse

Just returned from a relaxing and enjoyfull 10 day stay @ the DTbyH! As from the moment we entered the hotel grounds - it was 2AM - we felt that this was a right home to stay. After a good night rest we discovered a superb hotel with a lot of facilities. It was a enjoyable 24 degrees and that felt as heaven. Our room was located in the new section of the Bay Club. located on the ground-floor we had immediately acces to the garden, sand and beach which was certainly a big advantage. Our room was meticulously clean and it has domotica and other features to guarantee a more then comfortable stay. The room has a very nice size and the bathroom has a (rain)shower and a bath and it comes with all the necessary amenities. The hotel has a perfect location and with a private beach that stretches out for more then 650 meters you can go for a nice walk along the waterside. The hotel has also several swimming pools to please the most demanding guests. Beside the pools, the hotel offers a large kids-zone, a fitness, a large spa-area a several shops. As for the food, a sumptuous breakfast is on the ground-floor at Al Marjan with live-cooking stations with a large variety. Depending on the basis, from hotel with breakfast to an All-inclusive everyone has a proper choice to make. The hotel has also a delicious Italian restaurant (Vespa), a French themed brasserie and a nice bar (Anchor), for the nightbirds there is even a lounge-bar on the 9th floor (Shofee). After dinner you can make a nice walk on the promenade before taking a nap under the stars :) . The beach is nice but be aware...there is no powder sand on the beach as this beach is man made. As a matter of fact we have seen the construction of the island way back in 2005 and '06 while staying at the Al Hamra Fort Hotel today called the Hilton Al Hamra. Today we can say that we have stayed on the Al Marjan island (meaning coral shaped). Now we have to say something about the staff... yes we have seen the GM a few times in the hotel which is great but the biggest investment for this hotel is the entire staff. Everyone from the staff as from the moment that we arrived deserves our biggest compliments (from check-in and finally check-out to the whole staff working 24/7!). It will lead us too far to mention all names that we have seen of the wonderful staff - always with a smile- but if we may make one exception it will be 'our team from housekeeping' Meryjie and Randy who made our stay memorable and made us feel like being home. Thans a lot for that!!!! This is a truly nice resort with a huge 'family with children' approach but even couples can enjoy and relax in this tranquil heaven at the sea! Very recommended!!! Kind regards from Belgium. Mr. Peter Collapse

I have just returned from the resort (yesterday, 20/2/2017.) It has everything you could wish for from a beach holiday for all ages. The weather wasn't good, and yet I still had a great holiday! I was attracted to the Happy 4 hours in the Anchor Bar,(4-8) children were welcome too! at one point it was a perfect mini- disco. The football was also on large TV's for those who didn't fancy listening to the girl singers - who performed all types of music to suit all tastes effortlessly. There was a range of all inclusive packages, but I stayed on the bed only basis. I did appreciate that the outdoor pools were temperature controlled - warm enough to swim even though it was cloudy. I must give a special mention to the concierge who managed to get me a taxi at 4am in the morning, when my pre-booked transport to the airport didn't turn up !!! (nothing to do with the hotel) very professional. I'm sure you could avoid this by booking a mini bus via the hotel to collect you, and take you to the airport. Its extremely clean. We ate in the Vespa restaurant - excellent, Room Service prompt, hot and tasty. So what more do you need ? Its probably not the place for interesting walks, I think its about a mile to the nearest shop walking. If shopping's your thing there was buses on to the Dubai Mall. The facilities for children are not exaggerated, and there's a well equipped playground opposite the hotel which was impressive for the general public, with what appeared to be go-carts. Collapse
