Conveniently located near my office, this was a no brainer. Upon arrival, I was surprised to see how small the lobby was, with seas of suitcases blocking the desk in the lobby. My room wasn't ready when I checked in, but I was early, so it's all good. They were happy to store my suitcase, and the concierge was very friendly. Upon check in, I was given 2 bottles of water in a little welcome bag, and a warm chocolate chip cookie..a nice touch. When I came back that evening to get my room, a bit of disappointment kicked in. The room is small, but that's to be expected in NYC, and really, who needs a big hotel room in Chelsea? The room itself left much to be desired. From the dirty/old carpet, to the awful and dusty dust ruffle on the bed, i took one look around and realized this was a place I wouldn't let my suitcase touch the floor. There were old wet marks on the ceiling, dust all over the remote, no hand towels hanging in the bathroom, and a really nasty phone in the room. It's not so gross that I would walk away, but if you want cleanliness, dust free surfaces, etc look elsewhere. For a hundred bucks less, I wouldn't have bat an eyelash. The TV has Guide, a great bonus, but a few channels didn't work (ahem, HGTV). Bottom line: fine place to crash, no frills, kind of dusty/dirty, just okay customer service. If you want convenience, this is a good spot. I personally won't visit again. Collapse

3 of stayed in a double room on the 5th floor at this hotel. The room was not very spacious but for the time we spent there it was ok. Bathroom was very clean, good shower and plenty of towels. Beds were very comfortable and room temperature was fine but easily adjustable. My only complaint would be the coffee/tea machine - we were only supplied with enough tea/coffee for 1 drink each despite requesting more. A proper kettle and drink selection would've been appreciated! Location wise the hotel is 20ish min walk to Times Sq. Or 30 mins to Greenwich, so although not totally central it is close enough. Staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly. Our checkout day was Monday morning and the elevators were exceptionally busy. We waited 20 mins with our luggage to get in the lift so make sure you are not checking out in a rush!! Overall decent hotel if you are looking for a base during your visit. Collapse

Everything is was fine, room small and the bed felt short. I know that sounds odd but either it isn't a king size bed or it was rotated 90 degrees. I am 6 foot 6 and my feet were at the end of bed and head hitting the top.

This wasn’t my first trip to New York, but the most ‘uptown’ I have stayed, & loved it. Being quite central on Manhattan, we walked to & from many sights. It’s only 3-4 blocks to Penn Station, & 28th st subway, so you can get around quickly using that as well. Rooms are compact, as are most NY hotels, but it was clean. The lifts are a bit slow, especially at checkout time when everyone wanted them..but not something that would deter me from staying here again. Collapse

This hotel is otherwise average but it was plagued by elevator issues during my stay. There are only two elevators (staff and guest use them both) and several times during my stay one was out of service. Two elevators for such a tall building with so many rooms is insufficient on its own, one elevator is unacceptable. It appears that this issue has been going for some time based on other reviews. I took to the stairs several times in stead of waiting what could have been 15 plus minutes to stand in a cramped over full elevator. The stair wells were unkept as well because there were service items in the stair well like old room service stuff and other things, probably because the staff couldnt clear it away given one elevator. Also, in spite of my request to face the back of hte hotel to avoid street noise they did not accommodate this even though I got there at 2pm and reiterated the request (already in my reservation) and waited till after 8 to get to my room which in the midst of the elevator mayhem was facing the front of the building and the street with all the noise that entails. In light of the elevator problems I decided to just stay put and not inconvenience myself with a move the next day to another room. The room was on the small side as is common in NYC. Comfortable bed. Somewhat worn out in places. Id probably not return to this property, certainly hope they can sort their elevator situation out because two working ones is already underserving, just one working is unacceptable. If it was fixed and consistently working, this would be ranking of three of five. Collapse
