I've stayed in this hotel many times. I'm a Hilton Honours card holder - not that this matters - just to say I like this hotel and I like the chain (although very variable) Normally I can recommend without a thought. However, trip advisor allows the good and not so good to be voiced for the individual to be able to make an informed decision. Well this time I didn't live up to standards - far from it. I know hotels can be hectic when a major event is on - but this is what you train for. Now I know they were full - I was there for the same event BUT....... When it goes wrong - as it can - this is where customer service comes in - or doesn't in this case. Ok couldn't find my reference. Desk clerk calls what I assume was the front desk supervisor/manager A rather sharp - curt lady said she couldn't do anything without conformation, and that was that! Well now, I had my phone, search email, voilà ! Here's my conformation email - from you to me! I pass this to her and she offers a Gallic shrug and tells me to take a seat and she'll look into it. After some time 30 mins she advises me that someone made a call and changed the booking - so I asked for written proof (after all - apparently EVERYTHING needs written conformation. Erm.........no she couldn't offer any proof. So no room then? Time to speak with their manager - platitudes but still no room. After a good hour of 'looking into it' In the meantime, I booked my own room in the other Hilton hotel across town. Don't get me wrong - This hotel is nice. The staff are good - obviously not all. The rooms are good and the food is always tip top (worth it for breakfast alone) BUT - customer service was a let down. I could have understood it if I was a complete a@@e about it - but I was quite the opposite - despite the frosty front of house lady! Come on - brush up your customer care. However, all was not lost - another nice hotel was found. Collapse

I’ve stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion over last few months due to work commitments but have to say this will definitely be the last time at any Hilton Doubletree hotels Shocking service from the moment I checked in, Was asked to wait then the clerk went off for 13 minutes while other guests arrived and were checked in. Once I finally got checked in I was given a room the other side of the football pitch. There is no mention of this on booking or check-in I walked half way to the room and decided to turn round as this was totally unacceptable. I was given a room at the front of the hotel I made a dinner reservation for 8.15pm and arrived at 8.20pm to be told there would be a half hour wait for food…. I sat waiting to order food and a drink but after 10 minutes no one came to take my order When finally a waiter came over I asked if I could order from the bar menu and eat in the restaurant due to my not liking anything on the restaurant menu… I was told no I could only order bar food in the bar.. I went to sit in the bar and asked if I could order food, again the same waiter that sat me down in restaurant and left me told me I was not able to order due to waiting lists for food TOTAL SHOCKING EXPERIENCE Collapse

Before arrival I had to get in touch with reservations (Georgia was brilliant, very informative and helpful!!) to discuss bringing my toddler and his sleeping arrangements (I provided my own travel cot) and we also wanted to put in a request for a pitch view room, as it was a match day many of them are used for hospitality however we were lucky and managed to get a Junior Suite for 2 nights. On arrival at the hotel there was ample parking and we literally parked just a minute or so away from the entrance - I was worried about the parking situation as it was a match day weekend however there were no issues at all, we just had to give our reg. The customer service on checking in was world class, the staff are a credit to the hotel - we were also given warm cookies - my little boy snaffled one straight away - a lovely touch! We were allocated the 'Chairmans Suite' which is room 4001 on the fourth floor (the buttons in the lift are a tad strange and don't always work but this is literally the hotels only flaw!!) on arriving at our room we were absolutely gobsmacked - it was amazing, both the lounge and the bedroom - the views over the pitch were beautiful and the space in the room for our little boy to run around in was plentiful. Despite bringing our own cot the hotel provided ample towels for us all and extra pillows. The room was absolutely immaculate and the bathroom was simply stunning - the 2nd toilet was also quite handy and similarly lovely. The bed at first felt quite hard however it's probably the comfiest nights sleep I've had in years (I am quite a frequent hotel stayer). The whole room had such a homely feeling that my little boy didn't want to leave and already is asking to go back. On our first night we went to the V7 restaurant after a wander around the hotel, unfortunately they didn't have a children's menu (im not sure if the other restaurants do and found it strange really that it doesn't) however the chef very kindly made my little boy a small pizza - I had the beef dish which was delightful and my husband had the tandoori chicken pizza along with a few sides and drinks the whole meal totalled £60 - which is about right I think for the standard - the restaurant was lovely and the manager even took our little one out into the stadium (probably to keep him quiet ha but nevertheless a lovely touch). Breakfast in the pitch side restaurant both mornings was plentiful, I've never seen so much choice before - the lady making the eggs was a credit to the restaurant - such a lovely lady!! On our 2nd night after a day at the football we decided on ordering room service, it only took approx 30 mins to arrive which was ideal - I had the curried lamb burger (amazing!! So tasty) and hubby had pizza again, the £3 tray charge was well worth eating in the comfort of our beautiful suite. I can't recommend this hotel enough and I'm a tad sad that our football team won't be playing there next season however I think we may have to make a special journey and have another weekend away. Very clean and modern hotel. You get a lovely warm welcome cookie on arrival- this is a nice touch. The staff are friendly and IF you book rooms early it is great value for money. You can pay at least double if you leave it too late to book. I stay here often to visit my partners family and it would be better if they had set prices so we could book last minute trips here as well. Collapse
