We were looking for a relatively-economical (in London terms at least) hotel in South Kensington to facilitate our stay in that area of London to visit the V&A. The DoubleTree was perfect for what we needed: excellent staff and a comfortable, very clean, quiet room with small-but-perfectly-formed bathroom. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation (as at September 2017), but building work finished for the day at 4.30pm and didn't inconvenience us. We'll be heading back to the DoubleTree next time we need to stay in South Kensington. Thank you. Collapse

The room was not the nicest (we are from the United States), but I would definitely stay there again. It was comfortable, but small. They went out of their way to give us a great stay. Due to a cancelled flight, we had to stay an extra day and it was done with such ease. If we wanted coffee, it was there. We asked for ice, flatware, etc, they got it. They moved us to a room with fewer steps. Collapse

They were all so friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient to the underground transportation, and we liked that it was away from the busy city. Collapse

The scaffold entrance sets the tone for this very mediocre Hilton offering in the heart of one of the world's greatest cities. The front desk staff are surly and uninterested and the staff of the restaurant/bar like the breakfast buffet are lukewarm. From the doorman watching you struggle with your cases on the doorstep to the newly renovated pokey rooms the entire and expensive experience is uninspiring and unexpected for the Hilton brand. I inadvertently left a sentimental article of clothing in the closet but 8 hours later it had disappeared. Promises made by arrogant desk staff to "get back to me" never happened. 3 weeks later a helpful customer service rep. confirmed the disappearance. As a HH Gold member I expected more. Perhaps the structural rejuvenation should extend also to the entire staff. A modest hotel with much to be modest about Collapse

My wife and I (as well as her cousin) stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel from April 6th - April 10th, 2017 (her cousin stayed from April 7th - April 9th). First, the location for the DoubleTree is perfect -- in South Kensington near a lot of convenient shops and restaurants (such as the Gourmet Burger Kitchen across the street, the Tesco stop down the road, the pharmacy which was an absolute necessity due to my wife's illness prior to arriving at the DoubleTree Kensington, etc.), and only down the street from both the South Kensington Underground (to easily link to anywhere in the city), the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gardens & Palace, etc. There are not a ton of crowds on the streets which was nice as well. The staff of the hotel were excellent -- due to celebrating our anniversary on this vacation, the head of the bar had brought up champagne and deserts to our room. The rooms are on the smaller size -- it was crowded and even though we were Gold Member Hilton Rewards members, we could not be bumped up for our stay -- but they are very clean and nicely put together (my wife's cousin, who joined us the following day, actually checked into a room slightly bigger than ours). Only complaint on the room was no refrigerator -- but that is not always a common amenity in hotels. A very good Breakfast buffet is put together in the mornings -- free for guests of the hotel -- and it is the perfect way to fill yourself up before hitting the city of London and all of its sites. On April 8th, the three of us ate dinner at the Regency Restaurant (the restaurant on site of the DoubleTree Hilton -- same area where the Breakfast buffet is served in the morning). Service was excellent (a little slow on bringing the food, but did not matter, we were having a good time) and we basically closed the restaurant (being the last people there). Between the three of us we had 2 8 oz Fillet Steaks (excellent - cooked to perfection at rare), 1 Cajun spiced chicken (my wife's cousin, who also had an order of fries), a mixed salad for my wife and a chicken Caesar salad for myself. Three beers for me and 2 for my wife's cousin (my wife having wine) all in all amounted to 136 pounds. Not bad considering it was high quality food, and a lot of it. The bar area is nice, and during the day we would have a drink down there. Front desk staff was very helpful with all questions I had -- especially when my wife was sick and I needed to find a pharmacy. They directed me to one, and I appreciate this very much. This is the perfect spot to set up camp in London. The DoubleTree is reasonably priced, and being a Hilton property, you know the experience should not be a bad one. The location is perfect for getting anywhere in the city you need to be. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you! Collapse
