We stayed five nights at this hotel. We were welcomed by very helpful and efficient staff and given cookies to have with our coffee in our room. We had a very nice room overlooking a leafy street. The hotel is well located on Bayswater Road right next to Kensington Palace with a great selection of restaurants nearby. There are three Tubes Stations nearby which makes getting around London very easy. Also Paddington Station is only a short distance away making arrival and departure on the Heathrow Express very easy. I would have no hesitation staying at this hotel in the future. Collapse

We picked this hotel for brand and price but did encounter quite a few problems. Maybe it was because we arrived hot and frazzled but our welcome was less than perfect. The room was at 26.5 degrees and did not go below 23 even after 24 hrs later. They did move us to another room where the aircond worked fine so that was good. The location is 3 mins from the tube and close to hyde park but does not overlook the park- it overlooks the coach/bus park so dont expect a view - but it is handy for relaxing walks. Housekeeping was a bit poor at times but fixed once attention bought to a problem. Bed was hard and no pillow menu but they did send up extra pillows on request. The café food was excellent and the large king room was a good size. Bar fridge for your own food but no stock inside - you need to call room service for everything. No face washers and no top sheets, just a duvet (this is a typical UK thing - weird for Aussies). Collapse

Loved this hotel - great location for the tube into central London . ( Queensway) turn left a few mins walk. ( would HIGHLY recommend purchasing an OYSTER CARD before travel ) If you fancy it the London tour buses stop right in front . Plenty of places to eat nearby inc the usual McDonalds/Burger King . Lovely pub as you turn right with reasonably priced drinks two minutes on foot away . Sainsbury Local & Tesco Express across the road from tube station . Hyde Park is literally across the road . ROOMS . On the small side but very clean . Fresh bedding/Towels every day . Nespresso machine as well as a kettle/ mini fridge. Hairdryer. Iron. Good air con. Nice bathroom with a good shower & toiletries ( soap/body-wash/conditioner & shampoo) Flat screen TV & radio with alarm & USB charging point . The staff all very polite & attentive. :) Now for the niggles . ( Nothing major) No coffee sachets supplied which is a bit of a pain when you're half asleep & want a quick caffeine fix ( though the hotel will supply extra pods for the Nespresso Machine) No caffeine free alternatives if you don't . Two tea bags per day for two people ( again you can request more ) . The toiletries a fine for one person but far too small for two . Although in an upgraded balcony room no slippers or dressing gowns supplied which would have been a nice touch especially when sat outside, great if you just want to sit with something chilled & watch the world go by if your budget allows.. Come on Double Tree small changes would make a big difference. Would recommend joining Hilton Honours for exclusive discounts & rates but worth comparing on other sites too. Overall a fab stay & yes would definitely would return . Collapse

We stayed at the Doubletree Hilton Hyde Park post cruise. We liked the hospitable welcome with warm cookies. We were offered a room upgrade to a king room for 10 GBP. I can't imagine how small the queen room would have been. The room was clean and quiet, but I believe our cruise cabin was larger. There was only room for one suitcase. The other one had to balance on the window ledge. The bathroom was the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. Our cruise cabin had a bathroom that was maybe three times larger. There was no room to hang the towels, just a little shelf under the sink. The drinking glasses were on a recessed shelf over the toilet. The sink was a corner sink. You had to take a big step up to get into the shower. Nonetheless, the location was excellent. All we had to do was cross the street and we were a pleasant stroll away from Kensington Palace. In fact, we were so close that we had breakfast at the Orangery as a treat. The front staff was friendly, especially the concierge. My only criticism is that when I asked for a late check out, I was warned that a fee could be assessed. Then they looked up my Hilton status and seemed to soften their tone. With the Marriott, it is never a big deal to get an extra hour to check out and it is always met with friendliness. I would have appreciated the same sense of hospitality as a Hilton honors member.
