A superb stay for an exciting outing

We came to Glasgow on the Virgin East Coast Trainline for a music concert at the nearby 02 Academy in the city. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer hotel to stay in! Doubletree was an excellent standard on all levels. We were given a warm welcome by staff upon arrival who were friendly and informative. As for the room...wow! The attached pictures give the best account, but everything in it was of very high quality, as well as there being plenty of room to move around inside. After the concert we had attended had finished, we enjoyed a few drinks and a tranquil atmosphere in the bar area. Breakfast was also superb; a wide variety of hot and cold food and drinks to choose from. We’ll certainly be staying here again if we come to Glasgow in the future! Collapse

They were always prompt in getting to our assembly area to begin the tours. I would like to praise Austin, our driver in Ireland on our 10 day tour was fabulious!! Could not ask for better! Collapse

Firstly I would like to say how beautiful the hotel is and our room was very spacious and immaculate condition. Arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon, check in was quick and straight forward and the young man on the desk was very welcoming and pleasant. On arriving at the room we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was good until the next morning. Prepaid breakfast for two, and decided to have this delivered to our room at an extra cost due to it being a special occasion. Left the card outside the room with items requested as instructed and time requested for breakfast. Wake up on Sunday morning to wait for it arriving only for it to be an hour late which could be excused due to busyness of hotel? When the trolley arrived there was a tray containing some continental items and a pot of tea, no milk for the tea and no butter for pastries. Two plates with silver lids which should be two full English breakfasts. When we opened them after the room service girl left we discovered to our disappointment that they had only sent eggs on toast, which isn’t what we ordered or expected. Tried for 15 minutes to call reception and the kitchen to ask to have this changed but there was no answer. My partner then went downstairs to discuss this with reception and ask them to help, he was told that they couldn’t help and would get the kitchen to call the room. This did not happen initially and we were left waiting for someone to call, eventually a member of staff came back to the room with some milk for our tea, which was cold by this point having sat there for over half an hour. We raised the issue with her that we had expected the two breakfasts and she left to discuss this with her manager. Another 20 minutes passed and there was a knock at the door, this time the correct breakfast order, or so we thought. Open the lids to discover no eggs with the breakfast as requested originally, tried calling kitchen again, and eventually a manager called the room to apologise and said the correct order was on route to us. Another 15 minutes went by and another attempt to correct our order, this time two plates with eggs on toast arrived! Again not what we ordered! So by this point it’s two hours later than we expected our breakfast still no correct order but we gave up and had to have a cold fry up with a cold cup of tea, not the best way to start your day! The poor girl running backwards and forwards did not know what to say! An absolute shambles for such a lovely hotel! Ruined our morning and due to the long delay we could not use the facilities as planned before checking out. Such a shame as we had a lovely evening in the hotel the night before and had complimented it to a high standard. Definitely will avoid in the future due to this poor service, which caused so much unnecessary stress for us before a long drive home. I will give some credit to the manager on duty who refunded our breakfast charges and also ensured we did not have to pay for parking, however it would have been better if they had come out from the office to discuss our concerns directly. Very poor communication from staff in the hotel. Not the relaxing Sunday morning we had in mind!! Overall poor experience that could have been avoided. Collapse

We stayed at the double tree by hilton for one night after arriving from a long flight and it was great.It was close to all the bars and restaurants and also had a great pool,the staff were very helpful....

This Doubletree has a perfect combination: excellent hotel with excellent location. The rooms, the public areas and the restaurant are excellent. This Doubletree is even better than some Hilton ones that, theoretically should be better.
