We had a great visit to the Ricoh Arena. First impressions of the hotel are great: friendly check in, with warm cookie - these are unbelievably good by the way. Room was large, clean and well appointed. Actually, generally all staff are really helpful and can't do enough for you. My first concern was that we'd planned to eat at the hotel for dinner, and on a match day that was a really bad idea with kids. The Faradays restaurant did not open until 7 and did not offer a kids menu. They also kind of discouraged kids... we definitely thought they wouldn't turn us away if we'd wanted to go for dinner, but we got the impression they were not super keen on kids for dinner. The food was quite rich for kids too, so I guess I understand why. That had been our plan. Instead we had to go to the Mill Inn or whatever it was called for dinner. There was a kids menu and the staff were super friendly, but it was basically a bar with people still drinking after the match and not very kid friendly (here i'd like to thank the table of people next to us who decided the "f" word was something they'd use for every other word - but that's not something I would hold against the hotel). Bad planning, and It would be helpful if we'd had the information to make alternative plans. I'd tried to check out menus and opening times for the restaurants on the internet before we went, and had not been able to. For example, the times shown on the internet differed from the actual opening times, from memory. If I could do it again, I would have taken the children out somewhere else to eat dinner or ordered room service. The reason I am giving a 3 instead of a 4, was that we went down for breakfast at the Faradays. There was a good selection of cold foods, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the hot food. But the real reason I am giving a 3 is that I visited the ladies next to Faradays before breakfast, and it was dirty. Some rubbish on the floor, no loo paper, and filthy floors. Given Faradays is the only breakfast bar, it seemed poor that someone couldn't have had it checked before opening. Collapse
Absolutely brilliant hotel. Staff go above and be-ond to make sure you have the best stay possible.

Will always stay here. Big wasps fan and if there isn't a room available for a match I want to see. I would rather miss the match than stay anywhere else. The only hotel in Coventry that I would want to stay in. Outstanding.

Visited on a Saturday night to coincide with watching Wasps during the day. Made the mistake of booking a Pitch View class room, so the policy is no check in until after the game, indeed one of our two rooms wasn't available until after 7.30pm and when it was available smelled of smoke. Reception did store our luggage for us until check in, but very inconvenient. Reception advises that one of the rooms was available but couldn't be used in case you tried to watch the game, even though I showed her our match tickets, no common sense approach to this situation from the Hotel. The rooms were spacious and well decorated, comfortable bed (firm pillows), no free wi-fi unless you join the Hilton Honours Club, otherwise it's £5 for 24 hrs standard and £9 premium speed. Also in room 106, there was a alarm with a strong green light that illuminated the room all night ! Breakfast was pretty good, but wife used the ladies loo in the restaurant and said it was disgusting and dirty. Parking in Car Park A was free and very convenient for the event/Hotel. Food for lunch in the Bistro was good, but quite expensive (As was a Gin & Tonic, priced at £7 and a 200cl bottle of Prosecco priced at £9. Overall good value, but definitely wouldn't select pitch view again. Collapse
Good location - only average example of a Doubletree

I generally like the Doubletree chain, but sadly this example at the Ricoh Arena is a bit below their usual standard. Whilst the location couldn't be better for those attending events here (it's actually a part of the stadium structure) our experience at the hotel wasn't great. We booked a "Platinum suite" for our visit. This turned out to be a very strange room indeed. To start off it was freezing cold on arrival so I assume it hadn't be occupied during the previous week when there was snow on the ground outside. We whacked the air conditioning up to hot and put the fan on full and after about an hour the room was habitable. The room itself was very odd consisting of a bedroom area and then a very utilitarian living space with furniture more suited to an office than a hotel room complete with a small table and chairs on a dais that looked like it was ready for a presentation! Despite the large "living area" the bathroom had a floor space of 3 feet x 3 feet (I measured) and was fitted with a tiny hand basin, a shower and a loo. There was even a notice saying that the towels were in the wardrobe as there was no where for them to be stored in the tiny bathroom which had no towel rail or other surface available for towels. Worst of all the loo made a very loud and alarming hooting noise as the cistern refilled after flushing which whilst bad enough in the early evening was terrible in the middle of the night. The shower had just an overhead rose and no hand held attachment so was also less than useful and obviously there was no room for a bath. All in all this is a very strange style of hotel room. We ordered room service that evening and were presented with a very stodgy and under cooked pizza (raw dough in the middle) and a chicken burger which whilst containing a generous size chicken breast was barely warn and accompanied by cold chips. A really disappointing visit which is a shame as I suspect we'll be staying here moderately frequently during the remainder of the rugby season. Overall very disappointing! Collapse

Lovely stay, thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was here for a works Christmas party with my partner but the rooms themselves were utterly perfect. There was no faults in my opinion. The rooms were very clean and tidy, beds were very, very comfortable, with fantastic staff to welcome us. Lovely shower and bathrobes were comfortable. Kudos to the reception staff for making me feel right at home. Did not make it to the breakfast, but colleagues assure me it was delicious. Away from the road so had no noise, but rooms on higher floors are quieter due to the events taking place in the Ricoh Arena. Collapse
