Nice modern room but no bath, not really sure of the benefit of the football pitch Windows as at nighttime everything is pitch black and gives no view of anything at all a normal window would have been better. Stayed at the hotel for a work party and the fire alarm went off in the early hours of the night. Room is nice but a bath would have been nice Collapse

Came to celebrate our 1st anniversary with a nice meal and a evening in the casino, thought we would make a night of it and stay over. Didnt want to go to far as being close to xmas so though it would be a nice way to celebrate. Check in was ok, woman who checked us in said the room we were allocated wouldn't check us in which was fine as she just put us in another room except I don't know what happened as she forgot to keep our breakfast on our booking which I will explain in a mo. She checked us in and was told the cookies wasn't ready as it was 3pm yet.. it was 2.57. We were "upgrade" to a pitch view which I didint want as rooms are locked so no ventilation and felt trapped, although found out on check out none of the windows open anyway due to security! How stupid. Must say though that the guy that checked us out was great and helpful throughout stay, if only the rest of the staff were. Although we are HHoners members we were not put on HHoners floor (according to the lift) and wifi would work, after 2 trips down to reception was given different password for ricoh arena from previous helpful guy mentioned before. The restaurant was closed so they put us in the bar for a meal, it wasnt very romantic. food was generally good, Starters were good and husbands steak was great, I had the chicken which was soggy potatoes with a tined tomotates thrown on top with a breast of chicken. Husband chips looked lovely so ordered some, out came mcd looking fries! Told the waitress I wanted chips not fries, she smiled and walked away. Left most of mine and helped husband with his, didnt bother staying for dessert. There is no mini bar in the room which isnt a problem, we just asked someone to bring us some drinks up. Asked for a large bottle of water and a coke, told we would need to pay the £4 tray charge. No large bottles but had 2 small ones yet charged the same but for less water, he then dropped the coke when got to our room and had to go get another one. Breakfast was the worst though, got there and told we didnt have breakfast included (we did) she went away to "go check" we went and sat down and waited for our coffee. Although I wish we didnt, it looked wonderful, fresh breads pastries, fruits, cereals, juice and english breakfast... without the eggs, sausages and bacon, asked when more was coming out and waitress went to get the sausages that were sat in the kitchen... not even under the heat stand, waited as I wanted eggs.. when they were done they were placed under the heat stand but no waitresses around eventually 1 came back back walked over to the heat stand looked and walked away, I couldnt be bothered to wait anymore and went to get them myself, to which she jumped up and said oh do you want them and took them over to the buffet although I know why she left them.. they had been sitting so long they had gone hard and looked horrible, another guy came up asked if bacon was ready yet.. "no". Made a comment to the guy that they are not very good and he said yeah its always like this, you have to keep on top of them!!! When it came to check out was told we need to pay for breakfast.. I think not! told him and he would waiver it for us anyway. I did not enjoy being made to look like I made a mistake. As you can see from the photo, we did indeed have breakfast included on our confirmation, I think the lady at check in changed our booking when changing our room. I will admit we got a great deal with the winter sale but were so disappointed especially as staying at other doubletrees before and thought we knew what we were getting. Really upset as this was our first anniversary as husband and wife and wanted it to be special and it just thought we were fighting to try and enjoy our stay. A moment we will never get back, you only have 1 first anniversary :( Collapse

Some lovely points but some poor ones as wel. Reception staff and dinner staff very helpful although breakfast staff very poor and understaffed. Be more open with guests especially if you are putting guests in disabled rooms,

Brilliant room and hotel. Loved the pitch view at night. Very nice meal in faradays restaurant. Had the squid, then the beef ragu and the fig desert which we took back to the room. The waiter was extremely good

Good hotel as you would expect from Hilton. Perfect for football fans with views of the pitch from the hotel room.

This to me was just a good price in a good hotel. Views over the pitch mean little to me as I am not a football fan. If you are football fan however then with views of the pitch from your room I guess this would be brilliant for fans. During the football days the prices on this hotel are high. If you booked early however I think you could get a better price. Collapse
