We stayed for a week in this hotel. Pros: - Location. With kids, we were easily able to get a great breakfast (Yolk restaurant), head to the Navy Pier (about a 15 minute easy walk), stroll down the Magnificent Mile toward Millennium Park, and hit up just about everywhere we wanted to go via walking. - Staff. Desk staff was personable, gave my kiddos warm cookies when we arrived, and kept the rooms very clean. On our way out, had a nice convo with Vik. Got a bit more info about Chicago that was helpful. Great staff - Cost. Comparatively to some of the places pushing $300/day, we got a good deal. The hotel has a pool, but we didn't check it out as it was too cold during our stay. Cons: - Our room wasn't as snazzy/new as obviously more pricey hotels, but it was clean. We don't spend a lot of time in hotel rooms (prefer to sightsee), so this was a minor issue for us. For the cost, though, it was fine. - Our floor (26th) looked like it was being renovated or some work was going on, so you might want to check that when selecting a room. 25 other floors to choose from, so you should be good. Overall, a good hotel with nice staff. Good deal for our family. Collapse

Reception staff were a little slow on arrival, but helpful. The rooms are very clean, well laid out, comfortable and had everything I required for a comfortable stay. Good bar downstairs and restaurant served good breakfast - although somewhat expensive. I loved the location which had everything I wanted to visit as a tourist within walking distance, and was especially close to the magnificent mile and I found it a great area for eating and drinking out, as well also being able to get out for long runs as it is close to the lake. A lovely hotel and I would stay here again when next in Chicago. Collapse

This hotel is located in Magnificent Loop. If you are planning to walk around the area, NAVY PIER is walking distance which is great. I would say this is AVERAGE overall. It has pretty much everything you need but I felt everything was little outdated. There are hotels out there which has newer TV, beds, newer fridge (by the way, our room was missing fridge) and cleaner room. They should probably seek for renovation. Collapse

While OK, the hotel is not up to Double tree standards. The hotel needs new carpeting, new woodwork and doors (only so many coats of paint can be applied before it shows). The staff, while pleasant at all times, are not trained hotel staff. The lobby needed a vacuuming each time I walked through it. Location is good - it's not right on the Mag Mile, but close to it. Whole Foods diagonally across from the hotel was a pleasant find. I attended a convention at McCormack Place, and the taxi ride with tip was around $13. Overall, I wasn't impressed, but nor was I significantly disappointed - Kind of exactly what three stars is for Collapse

Location, location, location!!! You are definitely paying a premium for location on this one. Great location, close to Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, and Millennium Park. Beautiful lobby, super friendly and helpful staff, but kinda stops there though. We had two room next to each other, both were dated and subpar to Hilton standards. The beds were nice, and bathroom was decent, but other than that, the rest of the rooms were pretty dirty, and lacked a refrigerator and microwave. We were on the 5th floor, which is also the pool floor. This was great for us as we had kids that just wanted to swim the whole time. Just be careful if you are looking for a quiet area, as it does get loud and the pool stays opened late. They advertise a "rooftop pool" - which isn't the most accurate description since its right off the 5th floor, but still has ok views. Would've preferred to be all the way at the top though. The pool was decent sized, and they had a rooftop bar, which was pretty cool. We added breakfast to our room package, which was a plus. The breakfast buffet was stocked with the normal breakfast foods you'd find elsewhere, but everything was freshly made from scratch, which was awesome bacon, sausage, eggs, waffle/pancake, Fresh fruits, pastries. Freshly squeezed orange juice is poured right when you sit down at the table. Super attentive staff too!!! Collapse
