Hotel location was great for Chester Zoo. Looks lovely and reception staff were very friendly. However in room, children's bed was not ready, food found on floor behind one chair, sunglasses from previous guest on another chair, and sweet found stuck to the carpet. Batteries had gone on both remotes for televisions and air conditioning would not stay on. Staff very good and sorted out all problems quickly but general state of room was unacceptable. Evening restaurant menu limited especially children's menu which had a choice of only 3 things. Reception staff cleared the restaurant bill on departure due to issues with room and again were very good. Overall, hotel and room looked lovely, all staff very helpful but limited menus in restaurant and general cleanliness of room was awful. Collapse

Booked a Spa Day (Top to Toe Pamper Package) for my daughter's 16th birthday surprise treat in mid-April. Our party included me (mum), my two teenage daughters and dad (the 3 of them all spa novices). Whilst we didn't stay at the hotel we spent the whole day there from 9.30am to 5pm and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is impressive on arrival - beautiful grounds and public areas and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. We chose 3 treatments from the menu - head, neck and shoulder massage, body polish and facial - all very professionally provided by the therapists using quality products. My daughters were thrilled by their spa day - and my husband, who was originally a very reticent participant, thoroughly enjoyed it too. Our package included a lovely afternoon tea in the Marco Pierre White Restaurant. The spa facilities were very good - loved the indoor/outdoor pool - and was soooo relaxed that I even managed to doze off on one of the loungers. A perfect day. Collapse

I booked the hotel within very good time and seemed to get a very good deal on the room. From arrival, the staff were so lovely: myself and my partner were greeted by a very helpful and polite receptionist who gave us our free cookies (AH!!) and gave us directions to our room. Our room was stunning with a huge bed, very nice bathroom and nice little extras like nice brands of tea and coffee etc. I would definitely stay again if I had the same deal, without the deal I would just stay the hotel is slightly expensive for the price range young couples would have. Room perfect as was the on-suite bathroom, bed very comfortable, the only slight criticism was the complicated TV which could have done with an instruction book. Meals were very good and as we were such a large party the dinner menu was restricted for obvious reasons, but the service was superb and we all seemed to be served quickly. Wine was expensive at typical hotel prices and a rip off, so don,t budget on getting drunk. Breakfast was the usual self service buffet and again very good. Wouldn,t hesitate to stay there again Collapse

We've just stayed here for 1 night and enjoyed it for the most part. We were greeted at check-in by a lovely lady at reception and given freshly baked cookies which was a really nice touch. The room was really nice but had a slight smell of smoke which was a bit strange. We didn't bring it to the attention of the hotel as couldn't be bothered changing rooms. The bathroom was gorgeous - really clean. Plenty of storage space in the room, nice big TV and tea and coffee. We went to the Garden Room for a late lunch and the menu had a good choice. The massive let down for us was the service! We waited 15 mins for a beer and a cider then had to get up and ask where they were - the waitress hadn't put them through. We were reassured that she had put our food through though (even though we ordered everything together!). We then waited even longer for our food but when it came it was really tasty (Cajun chicken sandwich and Margherita pizza). We had a facial booked as part of our package but went down to the spa before it. The pool and sauna area was really nice and clean and wasn't too busy. The outdoor jacuzzi was really lovely! All staff at the spa were nice and we really enjoyed our facials. We went down to the Garden Room again for dinner and again the service was terrible. Waited ages for drinks, wasn't given a spoon for my soup - had to get up and ask for one. Offered a dessert menu then nobody came back for our order so we just got up and paid our bill at the bar. Food was nice though - we had the set menu included in our stay but also had the option of using the main menu with a £19.50pp allowance. Breakfast was a really good selection of hot and cold food - we were off to a good start with the service as someone came straight over offering hot drinks which was nice. Everything was great until someone cleared our table full of food and drinks when we'd both gone back up to get some condiments!! Would stay again but probably would go into Chester itself for food to be honest. Everything bar the restaurant was great. Thanks :) Collapse
