A very nice and clean hotel near everything. Friendly stuff and very calm rooms. Breakfast is nice. Lunch /dinner menu is rather limited and expensive. Internet is robust and fast. No power sockets near the bed.

Coupled with no air conditioning and a faulty hairdryer, room covered in cement dust and you have to use a University gym over the road ...,, this hotel is a disgrace and should be closed Collapse

I recently visited the UK and spent most of the week in Cambridge for work. I spent the first 2 days of the week at this hotel and the last 3 days at a different Cambridge hotel which I'll provide input on after this. I thought that the hotel was nice. Its a bit dated from the outside as well as the halways. The room was comfortable, but no different than most. The interesting thing I noticed in the room was that there were no electric outlets on the wall near the bed. I usually connect my phone charger or CPAP machine, but was unable to for the duration of the stay. Another observation was that breakfast started at 0630. Unfortunately I had to head into the office around that time so was unable to really enjoy the breakfast. I will say though, that I did walk through the breakfast location and the spread looked delicious. Parking There was plenty of parking located at the bottom of the hill, the downside is that the road is very narrow and can fit only 1 car at a time. So be careful if you choose to park your car. Bar The bar is great and as a Diamond member, the free drink vouchers went a long way. The quality of the selection was also good. Bar tenders were friendly and socialable. Penthouse I had an opportunity to stay in the penthouse for 1 night and it was fantastic. The room layout was great and the space was perfect for entertaining if the opportunity allows. The bathroom off the bedroom had both a standup shower as well as a tub. I used the gym which was located accross the street at the college and the gym was clean. There was little to no one in the space, so it was nice to enjoy the space. Location to the pubs were close. We went to the Mill, Anchor, and Eagle, which was all within a 5 min walk. Pros' Bar Breakfast Gym Locality to pubs Cons' lack of outlet near bed narrow road Collapse

The hotel is undergoing major building works and rooms at the back of the hotel are severely impacted. Behind the closed curtains is the scaffolding. The room is dusty, with no natural light and overlooks the building work. During working hours the noise from the site is significant. The hotel should not be using these rooms and at prices above £300 a night it is an insult to guests who are placed in these rooms. The staff are doing their best and are embarrassed by the situation but presumably have to continue to sell the rooms. It's a great shame as the location is perfect for the centre of Cambridge and the staff are great. You can get a 25% Discount voucher for the Marco Pierre White restaurant which provides good range of tasty food. Check construction has finished before booking! Collapse

The hotel was very expensive for such a terrible experience. Hotel staff were miserable and rude at check in. We were put in rooms that were blocked by scaffolding so you could not open any window. Equally the windows were blacked out, so the room was very dark and stuffy. The air conditioning was not working, and without being able to open the windows meant the room was unbearably hot. We were offered a fan, but no explanation why the air con was not working (the staff didn't look surprised!) The parking was pricey at £19.50 per night, with no alternatives given. The rooms were tired. All this for £268 per night, not including breakfast. Wish we had stayed at one of the many other Cambridge hotels. Collapse
