On arrival, we were very impressed, lovely clean hotel lobby, bright cheery staff, simple check-in, services fully explained - we were very happy. Then we got to the room. The request for non-feather bedding - emailed in previously, had not been fulfilled. Neither had the request for soft drinks been completed, though the extra pillows in the same request had been provided, so they definitely read it - although they were also of the feathered variety. The staff on shift tried their best to fix this, but they were not able to source enough pillows to complete the additional ones we had requested - but least we could sleep without asthma or allergy issues. (Dinner was lovely in their restaurant - a plus once more!) In the morning, I checked with the duty manager, and he had been made aware of the pillow mix-up & was going to raise it with housekeeping - who would indeed source the extra pillows and pop them in the room. (Breakfast was lovely too).. Then to bed this evening.. extra pillows had been delivered... settled down for some sleep - but after a wee while, my asthma starts playing a little, my nose feels blocked and I think - but the aren't any feathers.... are there? Oh yes! They had managed to add into our non-feathered request a great big fluffy 95% duck down pillow. Puff on inhaler - antihistamine - trip to reception to throw the offending item at the receptionist - we will see what the manager says tomorrow but geeze, this is the Hilton brand! Get the basics sorted!! Collapse

Having had a positive stay in the Hilton Garden Inn in the City Centre a few days previous my hopes were high for this stay. Unfortunately either the bar was set too high or my expectations were... The Hotel foyer has been nicely updated, free parking is a plus in Aberdeen (despite being a good distance from the City Centre) and the restaurant area did the trick. Breakfast was good - more choice on the 3 cereals offered would have been nice but it was generally pretty good. The standard rooms are functional if slightly modest in size. It was unseasonably warm & stuffy for Aberdeen and the lack of temperature control in the room was an issue. Having to use an desk fan through the night to keep cool as the windows only open slightly was a bit annoying. Basic tea/coffee facilities in the room - discovered one milk packet provided was out of date - but no point crying over spilled milk when the others were fine :) The bathrooms could do with an update, low water pressure is an issue. Internet is free for basic browsing and the occasional email - if you want to do anything more you have to pay. The staff were attentive and friendly and could not be faulted. But when coming back to Aberdeen I will likely stay somewhere else. Collapse

The hotel is situated in a very nice part of Aberdeen and is about 2 miles from the city centre. The hotel itself is smart from the outside with plenty of free parking available. The interior is very nice, smart and well laid out. The reception and catering staff were very friendly and eager to help at every opportunity. The room (140), although fairly small, was very tidy and clean and satisfied our needs for the most part. I always find showers touch and go in hotels, and this was no different. Water pressure was just about ok but you had to stand close to the taps to get wet. The stair well at the end of the corridor is a work in progress (still awaiting carpeting). The food in the restaurant was ok (again), Whilst the breakfasts were very good with lots of choice, the quality of evening meal left a bit to be desired. Having asked for the steak to be cooked well done, half of it was medium at best. When mentioned to the waitress, there was no offer to re-cook however, she did deduct the supplement. It was the bare minimum expected after half the steak remained uneaten. Overall, a very mixed two days. A nice place to stay, but maybe not to eat at night. Collapse

Arrived here very early in the morning after a giant catastrophe at Jury's inn with booking.com. The staff were very accommodating and very friendly. My room was lovely and breakfast was great. We were advised that we absolutely must visit Balmoral by a lovely gentleman on the front desk. We did and he was right so, thank you for that! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Collapse
