Near great food and two MTR stations. Lovely rooms and a fantastic front desk. We had a complimentary bottle of wine because it was our anniversary. The complaints use of a smart phone with data was a great touch. My hotel of choice in HK.

First time at the Dorsett, having stayed in different places on past trips. Checked in was efficient and received welcoming, friendly and professional service from service manager, Anthony Ho. Our booking was slightly complicated as the rest of the group was checking in a few days after me. He managed to arrange it so I don't have to move room (but even if I did his explanation was straight forward - I could just leave my suitcase in the room and staff will move it for me). Room was newly refurbished so it was clean and fresh. Air con works extremely well and lighting in room is warm but bright at the same time. Bathroom a tad small for three people family room. Convenient location with plenty of local food and 10 mins walk to causeway bay or Wanchai station . Hotel shuttle buses available on many routes. My first impression exceeds my expectation! Collapse

We flew into Hong Kong from Our week in Ha Noi for four days of fun in the big city. The Dorsett is an impressive looking hotel and is situated right across the road from Happy Valley racecourse and a short stroll from Time Square, great shopping, eating and the Metro Station at Causeway Bay so you can easily get across town or onto the mainland quickly. At hotel reception we were checked in without delay. I have to say, the desk staff are efficient and are not unpleasant but just don't show the warmth and welcome that we'd become accustomed to in Vietnam. We were shown to our room on the 17th floor with a great view of the racecourse as I had booked, however, the room had twin single beds and when I questioned this and explained that we would like a double bed, I was told that I hadn't shown a preference when I booked and the hotel was full and so they arranged for our beds to be pushed together. This was disappointing but otherwise the room was very good. The buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant was great with plenty of choices on offer, comfortable surrounds and freindly, efficient staff. The hotel provide you with a smart phone with charger in your room. This can be used as a wi fi hot-spot and tethered to your own mobile phones and the hotel will also provide you with a battery pack so can recharge it on the go. You may also use it to make free local calls and we also made one or two free international calls to Australia with it. This is an excellent service which made getting around on my first visit to Hong Kong so much easier. Overall, we say we'll done to the Dorsett and if in Hong Kong again I would go back to them. Thank-you, Howard and Denise. Collapse

I got a quad room at only S$200 per night booking through the hotel website and using the early bird discount. The hotel is newly refurbished and the room was beautiful. The view from our 25th floor room window was dazzling. The room was large enough for 4 of us plus our luggages. Very kid-friendly, with kids shampoo, shower gel, bathrobe, slippers and small toothbrush. The concierge gave excellent advice and spoke good English, The hotel staff were always polite. We used the hotel free shuttle almost daily. There are great breakfast places within 5-10 min walk from the hotel, eg Capital Cafe and Kam Fung near Wan Chai Market. Collapse

We booked the Dorsett Wanchai through Virgin Holidays to spend a week celebrating my husband's fiftieth birthday. We found our hotel stay absolutely wonderful. I was sorry to read comments saying that staff were unfriendly as we did not find this at all. We found the staff to be courteous, polite and very helpful. My husband had a lovely birthday courtesy of the hotel who produced a lovely birthday cake, champagne and some little gifts. A lovely personal touch. Thank you to Ronald, Kelvin and other staff for making it a memorable evening. We had a room on the twelfth floor overlooking the Happy Valley Racecourse. Although the room wasn't huge ( this is Hong Kong!)it was extremely stylish, clean with a large very comfortable bed. Despite being close to some very busy roads, noise didn't disturb our sleep. We stayed at the hotel for seven nights as we wanted to explore Hong Kong properly. Many guests stayed for just a few nights either on business or staying as a stopover before travelling further. We absolutely loved the free smart phone with unlimited 3G internet, Wifi hotspots for multi device connectivity. It was also set up with all sorts of useful information such as tourist day trips, restaurant guides, map of the underground plus much more. Although the transport in Hong Kong is excellent we did take advantage of the free shuttle bus service. Buffet breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant on the first floor and provided a good choice of Chinese and Western food although I was surprised to see chips being a choice at breakfast. Omelettes could be made for you by a very smiley chef. On our last night we had our evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent Chinese cuisine and all freshly prepared. In the restaurant there are a number of tanks containing live crabs, shrimps, and other fish which are waiting to be cooked. If you are a vegetarian, or squeamish you might find it a bit disconcerting. We didn't and we enjoyed extremely fresh shrimp as well as trying abalone in saki sauce for the first time. Absolutely delicious. We were told that they are planning to have a rooftop terrace with bar in the near future. Can't wait to come back. Collapse
