Stayed for three nights just this week. The hotel still under going renovation at their lobby and external building. Only 2 lifts available for a full house week, buffet breakfast 3 days on the row same food. Dinning through heavy drilling noise from external building, dusty and muddy outside the hotel. Disappointed as we were unaware of the extensive renovation going on while booking the hotel through Agoda. Room looks tired, small bathroom and shower area 2'x3'! Minimal amenities. There are other hotel (Park Royal & Royal Hotel) within the same range of price and closer distance to shopping malls and Bukit Bintang LRT station! The traffic jam at Dorset corner is a standstill (in fact the whole of Kuala Lumpur is jammed up all hours!) and the best way to travel around Kuala Lumpur Centre (city) is by LRT. If possible always stay near a LRT station when in Kuala Lumpur! Collapse

Booked for convenience of shopping to end our holiday in Malaysia. Room was spacious and fairly peaceful, housekeeping staff were very friendly and on seeing us in corridor in morning always checked if we had everything we needed. Unfortunately the negatives out weighed the positives for this stay, we were also not aware of the construction on going at the hotel lobby, very unimpressed to arrive at what can only be described as a building site on a narrow side road with numerous taxis and other cars, lorries and building materials surrounding the whole area, getting out of the taxi was a total safety hazard as this road is frequently used as a short cut route. Fairly plain unimpressive reception greeted us, we viewed our suite before taking it, the whole area is surrounded by construction work - whichever way you look! Asked to move up higher in hotel, the next room just above shown to us must have had a damp issue as the wallpaper was ripped back on walls and every skirting board was covered in a mould stain - we eventually settled on our first room after being advised construction work should only start between 9am and end around 4pm. The corridors to rooms on each floor were also unimpressive, dark areas. In our room we never got any hot water, spent 3 days with cold showers despite asking repeatedly for it to be repaired. Bed sheets were old and stained with what appears to be some kind of tippex covering bad staining. Toiletries half used by previous guests and not replaced, air conditioner barely worked. We had to unplug our room telephone as it it rang constantly every 10mins in the mornings, on answering no one was ever on the other end! The real disappointment to our stay was the awful breakfast, we never looked forward to this canteen style chaotic start to our day, feeding people "en masse" is never easy, some hotels get it right and this one certainly did not. Food offered was a poor choice, not replaced when it had been out for several hours, only got replenished as and when it was totally empty - if they had anymore that was. On many occasions every offering was low and dried up - totally inedible .Dried up waffles and pancakes left under a heating lamp is not a first choice for many it would seem! Tea and coffee from urns of help yourself style so had to ask for a real tea bag and hot water then get milk from the cereal counter in a glass that could not pour without making a mess, supplying a real cup of tea is surely not that difficult to start the day? Unfortunately one of the breakfast attendants had a bad cold but was still working which was a bit of a put off. Fruit offered had a funny taste and seemed as though it had been on ice soaked in something to stop it changing colour for several hours prior to breakfast which we found out to be true by accident one night at 10pm we got out of lift on wrong floor to find the breakfast food being set up! Also seemed strange that large tables of hotel workers ate at same time, large plates of fresh pancakes and waffles were being made for them! Cocktails in hotel bar were not that great, the whole place lacked in any character - we sat alone with no music or any atmosphere amongst badly stained old furniture . Did not stay for more than one drink. Cannot see us returning unless the whole hotel goes under some of renovation not only in its building work but its breakfast offerings and room ambiance. Booked 3 rooms. The newly renovated twin bedded (supersingle) room came with a couch cum sofa bed (queen). Room size is just right. Hotel is currently refurbishing building exterior hence the building itself is not conspicuous. Entrance to the lobby area is half hidden. Drivers may get confused about the carpark entrance. Fortunately, there are staff directing us to the carpark. Most importantly, the location of the hotel is good. Just behind starhill. Pavilion is just 5 minutes' walk away. Am particularly impressed with Wilson, the front desk staff. He was very helpful, unassuming and flexible in getting rooms for us that suited our families despite being only a one-night stay. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur. Collapse
