Visited the hotel dor last week, this was just a cheap five day trip so didnt expect much. The hotel is in a good location, five minute walk to the local strip with plenty of bars and restaurants. On arrival we had a very quick book in, after paying 11 euros local tax to the reception. Our room was on the first floor, the room was clean with en suite bath, shower and Wc. Very large balcony with table and chairs and two sun loungers. Our room overlooked the local busy road and roundabout so was very noisy. Room had free air con and free safe which was a bonus. Tv had bbc1. Pool area looked clean. We went bed and breakfast. Unfortunately i had an accident on the first day on the beach which resulted in a hospital visit and nasty gash to my head. Not feeling well i went down to breakfast had toast. I got a coffee and put two pastries in my bag to take to eat at the pool as the restaurant was down very steep steps and i felt sick and needed freh air. The older women who was cleaning the tables came running over shouted at me at the top of her voice saying you cannot take the pastries and then proceeded to look into my bag. The restaurant was full and i have never felt so embarrassed, i tried to explain i wasnt pinching them, just taking them to the pool, but she continued with a tirade of abuse. I put them back. I only visited the restarant once more feeling too embarrassed but when i saw the mouldy fruit and people having to wait for eggs or bacon to be cooked, as the chef didnt seem to want to cook too much at once, so there was a rush when she brought a tray in, so your breakfast was eaten in stages. Very poor ingrediants. Just egg, bacon and beans, a range of cereal was available. We met some people who had booked half board, they didnt realise until they arrived that their evening meal was at a restarant in the town, and although the restaurant had a large menu, they were presented with two options and if they didnt like it, they were offerred 40% off something else on the menu? The reception staff were very good, and helped me contact hospitals/taxis and bus companies. Not suitable for anyone with disabilities as many steps to restaurant and poolside toilets. Check out is 12 noon, we kept our room on for an extra €20 Collapse
The word is budget!

I stayed here with my girlfriend for a week in April. Only paying 215 euros each (flights + hotel) for the week we weren't expecting too much. The place was fairly clean and the room comfortable, if small. But since we were only in it to sleep it was adequate. We also had a small balcony looking over the pool which was quite nice. (Some rooms don't view the pool) Being budget everything comes at an additional cost, including the room safe and wifi in the room. Wifi is however free from the pool area which works intermittently in the room. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which was ok, i wouldn't have wanted to have dinner there as it limits your choice. The breakfast itself was ok, the standard continental stuff, plus bacon, eggs, beans etc Tea and coffee was out of a machine as was the juice which isn't the best but cant complain overall. The only real downsides to the hotel was the "double" bed, which is 2 singles pushed together, quite standard for a lot of hotels. But the sheets and blankets were also only single sized. I'm not 5 years old! And yes i do like to cuddle in be without waking up cold due to the parting of the sheets! This i found very annoying. And on one occasion our room wasn't made up. I brought this to the attention of the only member of staff who aggressively told me it wasn't her problem. There's a lot to be said about the Poles but their people skills are terrible. After a slightly heated conversation she relented and called the cleaner back in to do the job she should have done. So over all, not bad, don't pay too much and don't expect to squeeze your partner at night. Collapse

Went too this hotel 19th April til 23rd... Very quiet for this time of year... Pool wasn't cleaned all time we were there.. Paper and cigarette butts I'm pool... Not clean... Rooms are basic.. We stayed in bed and breakfast... Went down for breakfast.. Ended just having coffee... Wouldn't recommend breakfast. Unless you want continental stuff... Cold fried eggs, freezing boiled eggs and cold bacon.. Tomatoes with not very nice cheese... No English breakfast ... Rooms cleaned every day... No fridge or kettles I'm room.. TV in room.. Bathroom/shower... Toilet... Twins beds with side cupboards.. One dressing table and built in wardrobe... Look at pictures to get ideas... If you want Indian food.. Spice of India... It's excellent.. Very nice.... Woodys pub does a great breakfast.... Do not go too London pub for food... Disgusting.. Everything was cold.. Burnt.. Crispy egg.. Cold not recommend.... Collapse

We stayed at the hotel for a friends wedding, it is not really the type of hotel we would usually stay at. It is budget hotel and very inexpensive. Unfortunately our stay was well below average. When we arrived we were showed to our room, which was on the ground floor, leading out to the pool. The location of the room meant it was extremely loud and you are woken up very early in the morning by the loud noises of furniture being dragged across the floor. The sheets on the bed were dirty and there was no bottled water in the room despite it being included in the amenities when we booked. My partner went to reception and the man working was surprised the water wasn't there, however still charged us for a bottle from over the counter. The room also smelt musty and was extremely small. The second night in the hotel (and thankfully the last) we arrived back after the wedding and after being in the room for 10 minutes the electricity shorted out and everything went off. The door wouldn't close or lock as it is electronically secured therefore there was absolutely no security. We went to reception and the woman working tried her best to resolve the issue as best she could, however it was her first night and she was alone in the hotel. She called around the manager and some of her other colleagues for help and eventually after an hour or so she managed to fix the issue and we were able to go to bed (however by this point it was 2am). The next day when we came to leave the women on reception we're very unhelpful and despite the hard work of the woman on the night shift, it left us feeling that the staff at the hotel were very unhelpful and frankly rude. If you are not bothered about where you stay whilst on holiday and the issues mentioned above would not cause you as much distress as it did us then this hotel is cheap and well located in Cala d'or. However I feel the hotel ruined our stay and we would not recommend the hotel to any of our family and friends under any circumstances. Collapse

My partner and I lived in Cala d'Or for a long time and heard that the hotel d'Or was OK so we booked in there as a place to stay because my friend was getting married in Cala Dor. Lots of the wedding guests did the same and we more or less filled the hotel on their last few days of the season. You would think they would appreciate the custom before the winter months. How wrong I was. I arrived and was greeted by an abrupt rude older lady who told me the hotel closed the next day and I need to "get out" by 4pm. I went to my room and it was old fashioned and scruffy but clean. I went to the bathroom and there was no hand soap and the towels were all dirty and there was no hot water for a shower. We actually had a decent sleep during the night but in the morning I quickly realised the walls were paper thin. The breakfast was disgusting and very limited as it was their last few days of the season. We were given orange juice that had gone bad. My boyfriend asked at reception if he could have some water as the hotel bar/cafe was now closed for the season and the rude receptionist told him to go down the road to a bar. Absolutely disgraceful service and I will be warning people not to visit here. Collapse
