We have just got back from a week at the Gran Hotel Don Juan. We had a great time! The room was basic but cleaned every day. The balcony was only small but we didn't mind. The food was really nice and lots of choice; all inclusive drinks choices were good. The only thing I found a little disappointing was having to pay a deposit of 40€ for the all inclusive drinks. We did get it back but it is worth noting that you will need a little extra money for deposits on different things. All in all, a lovely trip away; hotel is very close to shops and the beach. I would definitely recommend and return here xx Collapse

We have just returned after a week at this establishment and despite the mixed reviews , I can honestly say we had a lovely holiday . The hotel is comprised of 3 star and 4 star rooms [ we stayed in the former ] and after an unsuitable room initially , we were relocated to a super family apartment on the sixth floor . The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful or pleasant , especially Mar at Reception , Juan and Jose in the bar , Julio and Jordi in Animacion , Mai Ling our charming and most attentive maid and Essa , an outstanding and charming young man who works in the restaurant . The food was varied and fresh although the huge dining room can be very busy . We enjoyed the different theme nights in the restaurant and our young son loved the freshly made pizza . The Animacion team were fantastic and our son loved the water polo , rifle shooting , football and basketball on a daily basis , giving parents time to themselves . The only detraction was the noise at night , as Lloret is party central , especially during high season . I recommend requesting a room on the top floor , as we slept peacefully once the patio doors were closed . The rooms have air conditioning and a hairdryer in situ in the bathroom . The three pools were very nice and there is a beautiful pond at the back of the hotel with carp , goldfish and waterlilies . I recommend you go with an open mind and hopefully you too will have a lovely holiday . Collapse

Gran Hotel Don Juan Palace - part of the old Don Juan Hotel. We stayed in the newly refurbished rooms, as there is an older part of the hotel, unsure what these rooms are like but I stayed there in the 1980s so may well not have changed. This part of the hotel is still known as the Don Juan Hotel. (I think) Hotel reception staff - friendly enough, little English spoken. Room - The rooms have been refurbished well, clean and modern, bathroom particularly good with efficient shower and complimentary toiletries - even a toothbrush. Balcony is small, only one chair, and not really much room for anything else. We were in room 415 which didn't have a pool view. Refurbishment work was on going during our stay - unsure of completion date. Did wake up to a lot of building work noise anytime from 7.45. (Refurbishments not mentioned on booking site) Pool - Pool area with decking, very nice. Sun loungers, awful! Didn't recline, and no padding. No good if you have back and neck problems, and if you dont you soon will, come prepared! Music at the main pool and animation team, who try their best. Second pool, with nice artificial grass a lot quieter with plenty of sun loungers - again awful for your back! Food - Booked as full board, dining room very busy at times, especially breakfast. If you go late expect to have run out of cutlery etc. Food was average, but wouldn't suit every palette. My daughter is fairly fussy, and struggled with finding something to eat other than potatoes. You will find something to your taste and for the price you pay you can't moan too much. They need to have more of a healthy variety is my personal feedback. Entertainment - Day time activities consisted of a few games late morning and late afternoon. Animation team try their best to get people to join in, but need to be more proactive with getting people to participate. Animation team friendly enough when you did join in. Evening entertainment, read another review which summed it up well, "if you like ball room type dancing then you'll be happy" No other entertainment on in the evening. Lloret itself has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Can chose whether to have a lively or quiet stay. Overall, the refurbishment of the hotel rooms are very nice, and hopefully it won't be too long before the rest of the rooms are finished. Would we return if changes made as mentioned. I would say the hotel is a 6.5 out of 10. Collapse

Stayed at the gran hotel Don Juan palace (which is in the same building as the Gran hotel Don Juan, only difference is the palace have nicer rooms). Check in - worst experience ever. Queued to check in at reception for an hour. Only 2 reception staff at desk which is shocking considering they knew a lot of people were checking in and out on that day. People were pushing in front of each other and wasn't organised at all. Staff - I personally found the staff friendly. However I did notice that some staff weren't as friendly with others. Able to help when they can. Food/drinks - we had all inclusive (biggest mistake ever) I have stayed at over 10 all inclusive hotels around the world and I have no idea how this place was allowed to call itself all inclusive. To start off you had a drinks card which you have to give to bar staff in exchange for a drink (you were only allowed one drink at a time). We only ate at the buffet restaurant once as it was horrible! Worst than school dinners. No selection of food and food is rarely stocked up. Not many choice for pescatarians or vegans which most of us were. Do not bother with all inclusive as there are many restaurants and bars nearby. Rooms - rooms were lovely and modern. Although they look visible clean the maids do not clean rooms properly. They only make bed and change towels. They do not clean sink/bath or sweep floor. Great locations - walking distance to beach and bars Had to pay for wifi The hotel is ok if you only plan on sleeping in it. All facilities are poor.... And do not book all inclusive Collapse
