We just had a wonderful experience with the catering dept at the Dom Pedro. We had a wine tasting for 185 people from around the world in the Events space and it was a wonderful event. The staff was both nice AND efficient. The hors d'oevres matched the wines we featured perfectly. The room was well arranged and decorated. We worked with Rute Brito who was one of the best client reps I ever met. I can't praise the whole staff and management enough. They will do a wonderful job for you. Collapse

Had a great experience in Lisboa on our first day of our holiday. We had booked this hotel with the idea it would be in the city center. This was not totally true. If you read well it is about 10 car minutes from the city center. We had however had a great stay. Great spacious room with a good view (book a room in sea side). Spacious bathroom. No separate shower! But all the nice little soaps shampoos available. No fluffy bathrobes as you might expect in a five star hotel. Room spacious with large bed. Huge tv. Film channel available but not for free (15-20 euro per day) Large safe available. No free water. But available in minibar. No coffee/tea making facilities. Breakfast very extensive with tasty juices. Portuguese charcuterie and great cakes. Paying parking available (17euro a night!) Car will be parked for you for this price. Staff polite but not very friendly. In short : high recommended but we had to limit our score to 4 because of minor shortcomings. Doubt if the hotel is worth all its five stars completely. Collapse

The location of the hotel is amazing and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. Overall was our experience in Lisbon very positive and people were extremely friendly everywhere in the city. We enjoyed the hotel as a conference hotel and everything was very well organized with the breakfast and lunch for all conference participants being served separately in additional rooms for all to have the maximum experience. Rooms were spacious and clean. Collapse

I stayed at the Dom Pedro while in Lisbon for a conference in May. The conference was at the EPIC SANA Lisboa, right across the street. However, I drew the short straw and had to stay at the Dom Pedro, as the Sana was fully booked. To start with, the full name of the hotel is the Dom Pedro Palace, which is a misnomer. It's a shack. The property is extremely dated, it looks like it hasn't been renovated since 1970. Expect a lot of crushed velvet and faux leather and gilded fittings. This gives the hotel a dark and gloomy atmosphere. The service, if you can call it that, matches the mood. When I arrived, there were two people at the check in desk, and no other guests around. I waited a full five minutes before anyone looked at me, and that was to dismiss me and tell me to wait. It took 15 minutes to check in. I had the same experience at check out - no other guest around, and it still took forever. To add insult to injury, when I indicated that I was going to the airport, the person checking me out just laughed (a whole lot of flights had been cancelled at Lisbon airport due to an issue with the airports refueling system). They definitely need to work on training their staff. The bell boy and door man, however, are absolutely lovely - they are always helpful and there to assist with taxis etc. Don't waste your time with anyone behind the desk. The rooms are large, but that's about all. Like the rest of the property, they haven't been upgraded. Also, the room comes without water, slippers, or kettle, or tea or coffee machine for that matter. Not 5 star at all. For over 150 Euros a night, I'd expect at least a bottle of water and a tea bag. The only positive is that there's an iron and ironing board in the room, to save you the hassle of calling down for one. One thing to note - despite my request for a non-smoking room, I got a smoking room. All my other colleagues did as well. I'm not sure if the hotel has non smoking floors. There's plenty of better hotels within a 5 minute walk that are much better value - the EPIC SANA, Four Seasons Ritz, and Intercontinental, to name just a few. Don't waste your time with the Dom Pedro, it's the worst part of what's otherwise a very beautiful city. Collapse

I stayed at Dom Pedro during the ISDA Annual Global Meeting. The hotel was excellent. The place is beautifully decorated, very clean and offers all the usual amenities. The location is not near major attractions but there are lots of transportation possibilities and a taxi to Alfama or the River is only about 6 Euros. It's also not to far for walking, if you like that. Collapse
