Arrived at the hotel at 2am to be told that the 2 rooms that we had paid in advance for was not available due to electrical problems. The electronic games world championship was on that weekend so I had my suspicions about the electricity excuse. We were shipped out to their sister hotel which was located 4km away in a business park with nothing surrounding it but motorways. It was confirmed on our arrival there that our hotel in the city centre had been overbooked! Next morning we went to hotel dining room for breakfast and were very disappointed to be told that we would have to pay for it even although there was no other option of places to eat at. Their excuse was we had not paid for breakfast at the other hotel. My argument was this was because the other hotel was in the city centre and we could choose where to eat-this all fell on deaf ears so we reluctantly paid for the breakfast which actually was very nice. We transferred back to our hotel at midday to find one room was still not ready. We were told that breakfast for the next 2 days would not be charged. Having already lost half a day we decided to leave all our bags in the one room and left to explore the city. The rooms in the hotel were clean, spacious and fine and there were adequate toiletries etc to use in the bathroom. The hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast (which was not worth getting up for) and they had no ice for us to use to have a drink in the room after a long day sightseeing. On a positive note the reception staff were really nice and were helpful. They were able to give directions to bus station etc which we used to take the bus to Krakow which was only an hour away. The hotel was very near bars shopping malls and restaurants so the location was excellent-would we use again? Probably but only for the fact that the location was so good and the price of the hotel was reasonable. Food and drink prices in Katowice were excellent in general so to pay slightly more than the average hotel prices was fine given the location of this one. Collapse

I wanted to express how disappointed I am about our stay in Diament. I booked the hotel for central location and previous good name but also for it's 4 star rating. I travelled loads and sometimes on a budget and some other times I go to 4 stars for "guaranteed " standard. It was the first time I brought my partner to Poland and unfortunately ended up ashamed. Staff was very nice and helpful but there is definitely a management issue there as place seem to be neglected and not managed well. Very poor breakfast and service there, either had to ask for plates, bread, juice ( no orange juice on Sunday at all) or to refill coffee machine with water. Stuff seem to be more occupied setting up for some event later on rather then catering for existing customers needs. On third morning toaster disappeared. On fourth I asked if they could toast some bread in the oven ( because toaster was broken i was told) and after waiting for 10 minutes we cancelled as we had a coach to catch. Eggs and sausages were ok but completely cold on one of the days and not much else to choose from. A lot of international guests would not always appreciate pickles and smalec. Room service was a hit and miss too. On second day our room was untouched only 2 bottles of water and loo roll were replenished. The last straw was when due to my boyfriend's birthday after dinner out we decided to celebrate with a glass of wine in the room ( it was Sunday and all bars were closing early) but was told that we cannot borrow corkscrew as they haven't got any and can't enter the bar as its locked up! Really? 4 star hotel can't offer a corkscrew? I was very upset as this was ruining my boyfriend's birthday so went back to speak to girl at the reception and she went to borrow one from hotel next door. It seem like hotel have only one manager so a lot of times there is no supervision, managers on duty just stuff left to their own devices. Very scruffy chef in jeans and dirty chef whites replenishing breakfast? It's the very first time I'm leaving a negative feedback, I was running restaurants and hotel bars before so I understand how hard it is and that things can happen. But for the money we paid i must express my disappointment on this occasion. Collapse

Upon arrival it was most disappointing, in fact infuriating, to find that they could NOT give us our reserved room due to "construction problems" - something about the plumbing pipes, and would have to send us to their sister hotel in the NEXT TOWN! for the next four nights. But we could move back in for the final night of our stay. I had carefully chosen this hotel for its proximity to venues I would be attending for daytime conferences and a trade show as well as evening concerts that would last until at least 2 am. Therefore I wanted a location that I could return to easily for a break in the midst of the activities. That said, they were accomodating as much as possible, giving us free breakfasts at the other hotel and offering free taxi services. Still, there were no restaurants in the immediate vicinity of that hotel that had any appeal. So it was a great relief to spend our last day, at least, where we had originally reserved and to enjoy the restaurants in that immediate neighborhood. Collapse

It wasn't very bad, but I expected so much more from a hotel that is still regarded as one of the best in the city. No wonder I got a good deal for my booking. First impression - the stink in the lift was so awful and unbearable (cheap air refreshener), I was happy it was only 2nd floor and afterwards I only used the stairs. The room was large, but I'd rather have a large good tv with many international channels than a dancefloor. Many tiles in the bathroom were broken and it was not cleaned properly in the corners. The A/C was loud and terrible, on whatever settings it was just too cold. And maybe it's also time to fix the exterior? Looks just pathetic when you approach it from the train station Collapse
