This hotel is located in 'Potts Point' but right on the border of Kings Cross. It is a 3 minute walk to the Kings Cross train station which is perfect to get you around the city. Also very easy to walk into Potts Point for dinner. Our room was lovely, and we were happy to find we also had access to a yoga studio and gym throughout our stay. Staff were very helpful (after 3 tries they eventually got us in the right room!). We would definitely stay again. Thanks! Collapse

We stayed at Larmont Sydney by Lancemore for one night and booked through Groupon. The deal was amazing... late check out, breakfast, bottle of wine, use of the Anytime Fitness Gym and free Wifi. Checking in was a breeze and the staff were very courteous and helpful. I have to say this hotel has the best bed we have ever slept in. We were lucky to have an awesome view of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Wifi brilliant. The room was very clean and modern. Breakfast was at the Hyde restaurant & it was scrumptious. We will definitely stay at this hotel again, absolutely loved it! Collapse

Great hotel for a night in the city! Great location, lovely decor and clean rooms. Would definitely return! Booked on Wotif and got a great rate too. Would recommend for business or just a night out in the city.

I stayed for three nights in mid July, at about $200 (AUD) a night, on a trip that was a mixture of business and personal. I wanted a very comfortable room that was central to my appointments, that was also functional as an office for a full day of work. I pretty much got both at the Larmont. Staff have obviously taken previous feedback seriously and were trying their hearts out when I arrived to explain the amenities, including the meals (eat-in and room service) that are available from the adjoining Hyde restaurant, and to make me feel welcome. I assured them that I wouldn't be troubling the gym or yoga facilities but it was nice to know they were there. I had reserved a Signature Room hoping that the view would inspire me for work but in spite of the hype (from the Larmont's website: "From the Harbour Bridge & Opera House to a glittering skyline & breathtaking ocean views, it’s easy to see why we included a lounge at your window - a perfect perch to watch Sydney & from above") my particular room looked squarely into the neighbours building over the road. While the external renovation work was kind of interesting to watch, it was a substantial disappointment. Honestly, I didn't mind that the view was crumby, it just would have been good to have known beforehand. The room itself is, as the quote goes, small but perfectly formed. I would be happy to own the bed, the linen and the pillows, which were divine. The tv is massive and sounds great. The limitations of free-to-air only channels are over-ridden by personal device connectivity, although the instructions for how to connect could maybe be in a more obvious place, and be updated to reflect the newer equipment. I relied on my own - weak - intuition to connect, having overlooked the instructions on a tiny bedside card. However, when I got it sorted, the connection was seamless and easy to use. The toilet and shower are each contained in small, frosted class cubicles with the vanity forming part of a bench separating the wet area from the bedroom. The shower is terrific, with gorgeous Apparell toiletries provided. The toilet could benefit from a small, covered bin rather than the occupant having to use the open bin in the bedroom for all refuse. The vanity/bench thing is a great use of space, but if you happen to use it as a spot to dump your bag when you come in AND splash around a bit washing your face, expect some wet baggage. It's a small thing, but for me, the best feature a modern, well-designed room can have is thoughtful lighting and power access, and the Larmont has that in spades. Great lighting for restful evenings but also feature lighting for make-up application. And power points everywhere. I travel with a minimum of 5 devices that need a charge and the room provided plentiful options. The mini bar seems well-stocked, including a Nespresso machine which I would have used but, frankly, couldn't be bothered dragging in and out of the drawer. There's good hanging space, a small electronic safe, ironing facilities and an effective but ergonomically hopeless VS hairdryer. The wifi access was free of extra charge and seemed reliable. I'm not sure if there are business facilities available (it wasn't mentioned at check-in) and it presents as a hotel for couples or solo travellers more than family groups. I had breakfast one morning in the Hyde. They were clearly short-staffed but trying their best to compensate. It wasn't, as advertised, the best breakfast in Potts Point, but it was ok. I had room service one evening which was delivered quickly but was uncovered and therefore cold, and disappointing in both taste and portion size (vs price). Ultimately, how much you love staying in Potts Point (locally known as Kings Cross) is a personal taste. I'm very familiar with the area and love it. There are tonnes of restaurants of all types and the people-watching is priceless. For others, the proximity to nightclubs and the few remaining strip clubs is off-putting. It's a short train ride (and a reasonable walk) away from the CBD, Sydney Harbour and the Rocks. The hotel is 'boutique' and in a mixed use building. For me, that means it doesn't have the overall precision of the well-oiled, larger exclusive hotels but it is certainly doing it's absolute best. I had to check out fairly early, and again the staff on duty did their best, but couldn't explain a small charge that had appeared on my tab (which they deleted). And they should really think about moving the printer so staff don't have to abandon the front desk to print out the account. I'd stay at the Larmont again, but would question which room I was getting. If having a great view comes at a cost (and it does) then the room I had should definitely be discounted compared to what seems to be on offer elsewhere in the hotel. Collapse
