I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the years, but not since the merger with Marriott. I must say I wondered if their service or if the experience would be the same or less. I am happy to say that their friendly & professional front desk team are even better than before! Everyone that I came in contact with during both stays last week were wonderful. Also exceptional assistance to redeem some Delta Gift Cards to apply to my invoice. Thank you! I would recommend that people take advantage of their Valet parking for $25 as parking is limited and only available at a local (non Delta) lot. Their toiletries are very fragrant...quite exotic! I stayed here for two nights, Friday and Saturday. I upgraded to valet parking and club room access. The Check in was excellent and customer service was exactly what you would expect from the Delta. The lady with the French accent was approachable , pleasant and knowledgeable, I'm Sorry I can not recall her name! The club room on Saturday afternoon didn't have any snacks at all and we looked again in the evening and food was extremely limited. We didn't eat any good there. Breakfast looked okay, but we were not planning on eating at paid extra to eat breakfast at tempo when I booked on booking.com. I paid extra for a breakfast voucher that was good for Both mornings. It was excellent and I would recommend it. The club room is not up to par with other club rooms at the Delta, but I did use it for coffee and water which was very convenient. The reason for my review , however is really based on the service. Sunday morning at 8am, I proceeded to the front desk as my niece who is attending Dal University was meeting us for breakfast prior to us leaving Halifax. I went to the front desk where I proceeded to ask if it would be possible to get a voucher for breakfast. The lady acted as if no one had ever made this request. I explained my self again and she asked another employee who then said she needed to speak to food and beverage manager. I waited patiently for over 5 minutes and when she returned she said they could not accommodate this request, but my niece could eat breakfast in the club room. I explained again that I was not eating in club room as we had the vouchers I purchased for tempo and also that I hadn't used the club room, just for water as there was either no snacks or limited. I explained we wanted to Have breakfast with my Neice and not sit in 2 separate restaurants! Lol. I was truly surprised that I had paid for all extras like valet paining and club access and stayed for two days and they would not provide a breakfast voucher and treated Me like I had 5 heads just for asking. I can afford the voucher, but it is the principal. I travel a lot for work and will not recommend them again. I used to always recommend the delata!! I proceeded to ask for the managers name and she left again for about 5-7 minutes and gave me the persons name Kirsten grant written on a piece of paper. When I got back to my room I received a phone call from Rebecca stating that they would remove one of the signature club fees for one day to accommodate for the breakfast, while I appreciate that I think that the way I was treated at the front desk is not likely up to Delta standards. At this point it's not about being comped one breakfast it's about the overall experience. I've stayed at the Delta Halifax and Delta Barrington both previously and this is my first type of negative encounter. And it is the first time I asked for a free breakfast. Again the only reason I asked for a free breakfast is because I already had the two breakfast at tempo that I was going to be going to and my niece was coming in to join us. I would also like to add from the moment that I approach the front desk before I had put my requested that they were not approachable. There was four staff members all standing under section and no clients. Good luck with your stay. Collapse

Location for downtown access to harbour and restaurants is very good. Room was comfortable. It overlooked Barrington Street itself which is a busy downtown street so if view is important to you, worth checking at the front desk on other options. Had breakfast in hotel restaurant which was pricey but very good. Likely the same price range as any hotel restaurant downtown Halifax. Staff were friendly and helpful in providing directions and suggestions for the area. Collapse

Have only stayed in 2 hotels in Halifax so it's difficult to compare. This one ($199, no breakfast incl) and the Hampton Inn by Hilton on Brunswick St. ($169, breakfast incl). The staff were great as they are throughout Nova Scotia. Downtown Halifax is very walkable so I think any hotel location is fine. The rooms are average, but clean with somewhat comfortable beds. The heating system was loud. The coffee in the room was terrible. Don't know why they bother with it. I really enjoy a strong cup of coffee in the morning so having Starbucks in the lobby area was wonderful. However, between the two hotels I would choose the Hampton Inn by Hilton as it's newer; a bit of a walk up hill though. Collapse
