Recently stayed here for 3 nights as first stop in snowboarding holiday. The hotel is easy to find on the corner, very close to shops and lots of chocolate and cheese outlets. The room was average size, but provided foldout bed as there was 3 of us. The beds were not very comfortable, unless you like a very firm mattress. There is a restaurant downstairs that is great, it has a rabbit theme. Would definitely recommend this hotel as somewhere to stay in lurcerne Collapse

The Hotel is perfectly located in the center of the city and within the walking distance of all the center attraction. I feel it is just the name which is different otherwise it shares major amenities with the Hotel Ambassador which is another hotel but connected to it through hallway. Even the breakfast area is shared by both the hotel. Somewhat old design in the room, bathroom is clean and small balcony attached to the room for the city view. Our expectation was high as we have seen Hotel De La Paix in Lausanne so got little disappointed with the look. Staffs were great. Overall a nice experience :) Collapse

READ THIS WHOLE REVIEW!! We decided to go to Switzerland for our honeymoon. We stayed 10 days in the city of Lucerne at the Hotel de la Paix. Seemingly unassuming, Hotel de la Paix turned out to be a diamond in the rough. Pulling up to the hotel, we almost walked right by the front door. Luckily, we found ourselves in a small but efficient lobby. There was a young woman sitting at the front desk (we never caught her name) who spoke fluent English and seemed to have a great personality. We arrived a few hours before check in, but she was very accommodating. Since we had not reserved a specific room, we were slated for a first floor roadside room. Once she realized our stay was 10 days and it was our honeymoon, she recommended room #550. This was the first hidden gem. Walking into the room, it was a bit smaller than anticipated, but true to European standards. The clean room consisted of a bed, two night stands, a desk/chair and TV. We were also lucky enough to have a small balcony that gave us wonderful views of the city and Swiss Alps from sunrise to sunset. The bed was not what we expected - when we first laid down, it was hard as a rock. Neither of us were expecting a good night's sleep, but we were pleasantly surprised. Turns out the Swiss know how to make a great bed. It was a traditional Swiss slat bed and we both agree it was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept on. Also an efficient bathroom and great daily turndown service. The staff of Hotel de la Paix were phenomenal. They were all very warm and inviting - especially Ferdinand and Justine (married owners) and Daniel Hoeger (the best concierge in Switzerland!) Daniel was a wealth of information about the city and had a glowing personality. He provided help with all of our food and shopping needs with some added personal touches from his own experiences in the city - namely Apricot Dumplings from Restaurant Schlussel! Ferdinand was always ready with a firm handshake and a smile. He always inquired how our day was going and seemed genuinely interested. Ferdinand was present morning, noon, and night from the amply and locally stocked continental breakfast to the fantastic dinners in the attached Restaurant Lapin. There was also a fantastic matriarch, whose name we cannot recall, who was quick to greet and discuss the days events. Hotel de la Paix is in the heart of the city. It is the perfect location for shopping, site seeing and great, traditional food. Among the highlights - Chas Barmettler, a local cheese shop directly across the street. Try their cheese pies cooked right on the corner! They're only 2 Swiss francs and divine! Max Chocolatier, only two blocks away selling some of the best handmade chocolate you can imagine. Both the Lion monument and the romantic Chapel Bridge were less than a 5 minute walk. The train station was also within a 10 minute walk and housed the Lucerne tourist information office with available daily tours and excursions. Dozens of shops and restaurants in every direction. The city itself is quite beautiful and boasts some wonderful architecture. Everywhere we went we felt safe and welcome and found that just about everyone speaks great English. Needless to say, this was an amazing trip and we credit Hotel de la Paix with its perfect location, perfect price, and perfect staff. We want to thank everyone at the Hotel de la Paix from the bottom of our hearts for making our honeymoon so special. -Marcus & Justine Collapse

This was our 5th visit in Lucerne Superb location close to the Lion monument and Gletschergarten ,a short distance away from the train station and other main attractions and shops Reception area was too small , welcome drinks was provided but no clean drinking glasses were available Our non-smoking room was rather compact but clean and quiet We had a small balcony which We loved ,(regardless of the construction site view) because it lets the light in and the autumn breeze filled our room every morning Breakfasts were served at restaurant Lapin and Ambassador hotel at different times with exactly the same Continental Breakfast spread We had breakfast at Lapin on our first day, It was crowded and a bit dark for a morning atmosphere so We preferred the Ambassador breakfast room for the remainder of our stay. It was bright, spacious, relaxed and the staff was pleasant I suppose because it's an old building why there was No A/C , the power outlets were a huge let down and there was a serious reminder on the hotel's guest information folder about using kettles etc. In lieu of A/C..... a squeaky electric fan was provided in the room which We actually used However it had to be turned off every time We charged batteries for phones, digital cameras, tablets and laptops. Still , We had a great time in Lucerne Collapse
