The room was small, with only one bad and it was extremely hot. No AC in the room. I had to sleep 2 nights with the small window open to be able to breath. I have told reception twice to send somebody in the room to check the heat, nothing happened. The 2 days of meetings were very hard for me due to the bad sleeping conditions. Collapse

The arrival at the hotel was very disappointing, as the gentleman at the reception desk was very rude. The room was spacious, with a beautiful view of the Danube. However, there was an inconsistency of "bedroom-to-bed" design", as the plugs, light switches, and lights were placed having in mind a smaller bed, which meant that whoever slept on the left side had to be careful not to bump their head on the light overtime they got in or out bed. And please someone explain to me why the very narrow, single covers on a double bed?? We were there for a conference. Since there were other conferences at the same time, we experienced many people coming over, eating and drinking from our break and lunch buffet, even though we had clear signage, with the hotel people telling us that "there weren't enough of them to keep the people off". So we were paying for other food and drinks other people were consuming, but the hotel employees couldn't care less! Having said that, the conference rooms are beautiful, and the AV crew is exceptional, especially Norbit! Collapse

Danubius Hotel Helia creates much higher expectations than what is finally provided. Our first impression was a rude receptionist, who made us pay for the room at the moment we arrived to the hotel. Very bad practice and old fashioned. The room we where given had no simillarity with the one we had booked through booking.com. We were sent to find our room alone. The room was in a different floor and with a different view than the one we had booked. When tried to call the reception there was no button on the rooms phone for a direct line, so we had to call from our cell phones. We placed our complains to the reception, only to get cynical comments and a rude answer that: this is available, take it or leave it. In order to finally get what we booked, we had to upgrade to a new more expensive room, reaching the 100€/night. The room was exactly the same with the previous one, except from the view to the river. No breakfast was included in the price. Breakfast buffe had quantity, but was lacking of variety, as it repeated the same goods in different forms. Boiled eggs, scumbled eggs, eggs in a can, eggs fried, eggs eggs eggs. Simillarly with the rest of the breakfast. It was rich and tasty, but not for 12€/person. Dinner was better (even more expensive) with more variety. The spa was satisfactory, the facilities clean and the service kind and helpful. Minimun price for a massage is 1€/hr. Overall the service was a lot lower than expected for a hotel of it's kind, the facilities not taken care of and not clean enough. The residents were sharing the same space with visitors for conferences, so we would walk with our robes and slippers from the spa to get a coffee and face people from conferences having lunch. The hotel needs an update asap in all aspects. Otherwise it promisses much more than it can afford to give. In the 21st century expectations for resort hotels are very high and this hotel not only does not reach them, but is completely out of competition. Collapse

Always love staying at Helia when at Budapest. Have stayed at other hotels in Budapest but none have matched the confort , service and amenities. The spa and gym facilities are excellent. The food is also top notch.
