Recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza on B & B, as a couple. This was our third time here. Once again we had an excellent holiday, with no complaints. Room was very clean and spacious. All staff were friendly and courteous. One point, not a complaint is that at times at breakfast there was a queue at the toaster; as often had to put the bread through twice! Any chance of a second to ease the wait? Great hotel, with clean rooms, 10 minute walk to the Marina and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it. Hope to return again next year. Collapse

Although we only stayed one night, on our way to the airport, we really rated this hotel. Was a bit concerned after reading quite a few negative reviews on this site but they are unjustified, in my opinion. The hotel isn't the most attractive from outside as you drive up but once through the doors, everything is really good quality (apart from the oft mentioned sun loungers!). Receptionists were lovely, friendly & professional. Even though we arrived rather early, they got us a lovely room straight away, with no hassle. Our junior suite on a high floor was brilliant, so comfortable & spacious, with amazing sea views. The clear sided shower & loo takes a bit of getting used to, but the bathroom was really well equipped & spacious. The little things that usually annoy us had all been given attention, a good, powerful hairdryer, a well positioned magnifying mirror & good bathroom lighting. All the usual additions that you would expect from a hotel in this category, big bath towels. Bathrobes & slippers & good toiletries. The balcony is furnished with two deep & comfortable seats, a great place to watch the sunset & have a drink. The bed was enormous & extremely comfortable, as were the pillows. We had a great nights sleep. We had room service as we were quite tired, it was efficient, quite nice& reasonable value. Our room didn't include breakfast but we know that Crowne Plaza breakfasts are usually pretty good- we weren't disappointed, plenty of choice of lovely, fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, pastries & hot food, including an omelette station. They even have sparkling wine on offer, should you fancy it. We ate reasonably early & had absolutely no trouble finding a quiet table outside (smoke free - which was nice) & good, attentive service. The only drawback to this hotel is the pool area. We hadn't come to use the pool much so it wasn't really an issue for us. The loungers get 'bagged' ridiculously early, even at this time of year. The older wicker style loungers are very comfortable but many of the cushions could do with replacing. The more modern white mesh sunbeds appear not to be up to the job of coping with the weight of lounging guests! Many were breaking under the pressure. This could easily be sorted out & quite frankly, I don't know why they don't as, in my opinion, it's the only downside of an otherwise excellent hotel. I don't understand earlier reviewers who complained about poolside service, the staff we saw were eager to serve & always pleasant. The other big bonus, excellent free wi-fi throughout the hotel & grounds! I would certainly choose this hotel if ever in the area again. Collapse

Had a few days to spare so booked 4 nights at the hotel, so to sum up quick. Pros Good location great walks, Quateria to the left vilamoura to the right, good breakfast, nice decent rooms, cleaned well, pool area nice and clean. Cons Expensive taxi to hotel 40 euros, Room bathrobes shabby and old, terrible hard pillows, put right by a noisy lift, the room right next to it, sunbeds around pool area shabby and old and broke twice nearly resulted in injury, towels old shabby, pool waiters hopeless and walked around aimlessly not really asking did anyone want drinks but you had to get up of your sunbed to get their attention, why do they not come up to you and ask properly do you want a drink?? simple. expensive drinks but then again vilamoura is expensive place. no diet drinks?? on the cruise ships or mexico or turkey you can get gin and slim line tonic, vodka diet lemonade or sprite free/zero, at this hotel it was like asking for gold dust, with waiters just shrugging their shoulders acting dumb. terrible night shows even though everyone goes out into the marina at least have something decent on when you come back for a nighttime drink. expensive drinks around pool area, beer 4.50, shorts 9 euro cocktails 9 euro. No happy hour to entice people to drink, food extortionate prices, go up the road to get half price food. Although it was a decent place and weather great, we would not return, the lake hotel other side of marina which is magnificent is the same price. Marbella is a better short break and its even cheaper. Collapse

I visited this hotel in August / September this year. At first the hotel seems unprepossessing in being " boxy " and undistinguished architecturally but once inside it is very attractive and well appointed. This is not a cultural hot spot so if you don't golf you're going to spend a good part of your time in the hotel so it has to come up to the mark. Broadly it does. I did not appreciate immediately on arrival and in checking in the attempt to up sell me another room at a great deal more than my booked room per night as much as to say my booked room was not any good. This annoyed me and in the event was pointless as my room was indeed very nice indeed. I suppose the guy was told to do it but, management please note, a very bad idea. This is a very busy hotel and I'm not sure they have the balance right between rooms/ sun loungers and if you can't get a lounger it's pretty hopeless. One thing they certainly don't enforce is the no early morning "towel booking" of the loungers nor as they claim remove towels from loungers unoccupied for more than half an hour- I saw frequently loungers unoccupied for in excess of four hours with no attempt to move the towels etc. while people were going about trying to find somewhere to settle down ( me on my first day!). The food was very good and they had an excellent system of leading you to a table rather than just leaving you to wander about trying to find one. The staff when interacting were alway very helpful and pleasant and of course could speak English. My room was very modern , well appointed and the house keeping was good. Collapse
