What a wonderful hotel and location. On check in, we were offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite and as the weekend was a celebration of my partner's 70th birthday, we took it with alacrity! The room was just gorgeous, incredibly spacious, and the bed so comfortable we were 'unmaking' it to find out the make of mattress! All necessary toiletries were supplied, and I for one (fussy), found the combined shampoo/shower gel to be positively luxurious. The shower was divine (one of those robust rainfall ones) and I was happy to spend ages in there. A Nespresso machine, so decent coffee in the morning was also an added bonus, along with the free water (supplied and replenished daily). The free wifi throughout the hotel was reliable and fast. We had opted for half board (just do it), so on top of the excellent buffet breakfast, enjoyed the Cataplana restaurant each evening, and the attentions of our fantastic Maitre'd Kevin Martins who was so incredibly kind to us throughout our stay. The menu was sufficiently varied to cater for most palates, with one of my favourites being the Portuguese Cataplan (fish stew), and the Spaghetti Carbonara - made with aplomb at our table by one of the waiters who looked after us so very well. In fact, the service we received in the restaurant was truly spectacular, very personal, making us feel not only like honoured guests, but friends popping by for dinner! The spa (free for one day but otherwise an 11 euro charge unless you are having a treatment) was great fun, with a steam room (they call it a hammam), sauna, fabulous whirlpool jacuzzi and pool, along with a relaxation room. As hotel guests we were also given 15% discount on treatments, so I had one needless to say!. Vilamoura (very nice marina with posh boats), and Quarteira (not my cup of tea but might be better on a Wednesday when the market visits) are just 10 minutes walk either side of the hotel. A bit of a find was a small nature reserve on the dunes adjacent to the beach in Vilamoura and we spent a couple of happy hours there just wandering and trying to identify the birds (waxwing and jay). We also took the very easy bus (8.40 euros for us both) journey to Albufeira one day, deciding to take a taxi back (20 euros). The bus stop is in front of the Casino, just a few minutes walk from the hotel. We tried out the Casino too, useful if you fancy a cheap drink and a good cocktail menu combined with a quick turn on the slot machines! So, to summarise, this isn't a cheap hotel (it is 5 star), but it is good value for money, with the service and quality we received exemplary. It's also worth noting, that having stayed in other 5 star establishments world wide, we will continue to return to Portugal, where the people are so genuine, proud of their heritage and country, and a delight to spend time with. Would I stay here again....hard call but probly not. Ok so it's off season and only 4 floors open so not a busy time for them. The good. The breakfast buffet is awesome sooooo much choice and the food incredible well cooked staff at breakfast very helpfull and polite. The rooms are a good size and room to move around. Very good wifi all over the hotel. Location is quite good too. The bad. This hotel dose some little things so badly wrong it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. In room coffee (this is really silly but One of the main reasons I booked was they have in room nespresso machines, it means I get a decent coffee as I wake) but you only get 3 capsules no matter how long your stay (we stayed a week) they then charge €2 per extra capsule you want. First time I have seen any hotel do this very very poor. Brought it up with receptionist who was very rude and just said those are the rules wasn't even empathic Pillows were wafer thin not great quality, bed very very firm. To use the indoor pool or jacuzzi its €11 per person per day but the water temp in them dosent even hit Luke warm and they give you one towel not even a robe!!!!! For a half empty hotel and it's raining outside I think this is a bit much if you charge at least have them warm enough to use These small little things really peed me off, and more importantly could have been avoided. Just home from a fabulous break at the Crowne Plaza - 1st time at this hotel but definitely won't be our last! Perfect location right on the beach - hotel interior very classy. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast here was excellent - the choices were amazing and standards exceptional, there was even gluten free bread as a choice which is a first for me and was much appreciated! Thank you very much for such a lovely break xx Collapse

Lovely hotel. Happy attentive staff, beautiful hotel, great restaurant and bar, great location close to the beach and marina. Overall a lovely short break. Weather could have been better, but the location, accommodation and food was fantastic.

We returned to this hotel as we loved it so much. The location is a real plus point as it's located on the beach front and you can gain direct access via the gate by the pool. The hotel is a contemporary design with spacious rooms. Tip - there are speakers in the bathroom so you can listen to the tv whilst showering! The volume control is adjacent to the hairdryer. The towels could be better as the bath towel is quite small, being only slightly larger than the hand towel. The hotel replenish the toiletries daily along with two bottles of water. During the low season, the hotel only use the lower floors. We were slightly disappointed with the swimming pool being closed and empty due to maintenance. Although it would've been a bit cold, we would have paddled as the weather was really hot. In addition you couldn't use the sun loungers by the pool, and there were only a few available. Although it was low season, there was live music in the bar on Thurs, Fri and Sat night. Wine was quite reasonable at €3 a glass, but cocktails a bit expensive at €9 each. The hotel is well situated between both Vilamoura and Quarteira so it's only a short walk to lots of restaurants. Quarteira can be reached along the walkway. We ate at some great value restaurants in Quarteira which were mainly used by the locals. We love this hotel and will definitely return. Collapse
