There are lots of hotels in NYC and in Times Square, so there are lots of choices. For us, coming in for the theater - this is the perfect hotel. It's very convenient and well located. Literally, out the door you are in the heart of the theater district. If you are seeing Springsteen or Bronx Tale, you can literally walk out of the hotel - through the covered driveway and be at the theater in less than 5 minute. They are on the same street. Other theaters are also relatively close. This is really amazing, especially in the winter months - but would be nice anytime of year, especially if the theater is your reason for travel For a hotel of this size, we never had a wait for the elevators, our room was very spacious and the buffet breakfast was excellent - and with the discount, affordable. We also had rooms on high floors, which was nice - but honestly, when you are in NYC you are going to be out most of the day - so having a nice view is a bonus if you have time to look out the window. Everyone at the front desk was friendly, our check in was quick and our room was ready early. As for the neighborhood and restaurants, avoid "the touristy" spots in and around Times Square - unless you like that sort of thing. You'd be better off heading to 8th Avenue or 9th for more variety - or other areas. We will definitely be back at the Crown Plaza Collapse

Very disappointed with this hotel, especially when the price tag was 370 usd for a standard room. The room was old, wood veneer coming off the bathroom cupboard, window not being able to be closed, light next to bed not working (I assume the bulb had blown). Limited toiletries (no cotton tips, toothbrush). The bed was saggy from overuse. Booking the room via the phone was arduous. Took 7 phone-calls just to amend the reservation. Staff were not trained, twice the phone “cut off” and hold times were too long. Collapse
Dazzling (if you like that kind of thing) ;)

Very clean, very comfortable. Although very, very busy. Some people go to NYC for just that tho - the hustle and bustle. There's an amazing Deli - Carnegie bit further up towards Columbus Circle - found myself there more than a few times.

We came to NYC especially to see the Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve as part of our wedding anniversary, and we choose the Crowne Plaza at Times Square in Manhattan…… And we were not disappointed. Not at all!! We were there for NYE 2017, and did the Ball Drop package that they have on offer to purchase, which started off at 7.30pm with as much food (Massive choice from the Buffet) and drinks (Cocktails, Wines, Spirits as well as non-alcoholic), you could want, followed with a DJ, and then at 11.30pm, you are encouraged to go outside to watch the ball drop in a private fenced off area in Times Square, not public allowed in there, just people all form your function that night. The view was perfect of the Ball drop. Then it was back into the hotel to party on to the small hours of New Years Day. We had a small problem initially which I will cover later, but the whole experience of the hotel was fantastic. The food quality in the restaurant was outstanding, complete with the friendliest service you will get anywhere from the restaurant manager, who frequently came over to the guests tables to check on everything. I am a bit of a coffee snob, and only drink the Australian/European style coffee, and can’t stomach the filter stuff usually passed off as coffee in the USA, so I was pleasantly surprised that when I asked if they had any real coffee, I was met with ‘would I like a latte or espresso’? And the coffee was fantastic. Admittingly, it was not included in the buffet, but $3.50 extra, which is nothing to pay to have a decent coffee to start the day off with. Housekeeping was also faultless too. This hotel is sooo conveniently located to Times Square, it is so convenient. You walk out, and you have the ticket booth at the top of the square a few hundred feet away at the most, and also the shops etc. of the square at your fingertips. The last time I can to NYC and stay at Times Square, I stayed at the W which was fantastic too, (a totally different styled hotel), but it was nearly 3 times more expensive for the same location! – Hands down, this hotel is the best value for money you will get within Times Square’s precinct. Now, the small problem we had, which was no fault of this hotel, but their reservations center, based miles away in another state. We initially book the hotel room via their reservations centre, which unknown to us at the time, was based in Utah and not at the hotel. So when we saw of the hotel’s website a room titled “Times Square View”, we thought perfect that we book that as we could watch the Ball Drop from our room requested. We confirmed this with the lady at the reservations centre that this is the case. Well, we received an email a week or so later, telling us that this is not the case and that there is no view in the whole hotel that offers the Ball Drop view, just a view of times Square. Obviously we were upset and angry at this, and complained directly to the hotel. Then in steps Varary Henry, an angel. She realises that there was a big miscommunication and that the fault lied with the reservations centre, and offered suggestions and remedies to fix this problem to make our stay enjoyable and unforgettable. That she did. Valary didn’t just stop at making things perfect before we got there, but also whilst there, she gave us a courtesy phone call to make sure our stay was going well too. Brilliant service. Valary should be held in high esteem by management – Staff like this, who are loyal and passionate about the brand and company, are very, very had to find. Collapse

The concierge were exceptionally helpful with recommendations of restaurants, directions and other points of interest. We were able to walk to our chosen restaurants, shows and attractions.
