I stayed at this hotel just this past weekend (05/19/17-05/21/17). My boyfriend and I have annual passes to universal so we always choose a hotel as close to universal as possible. This hotel was very cheap when we booked it through Priceline. On Priceline we were unable to choose a room so I called and requested a King bed prior to arrival, they said they will notate our booking but would all depend on availability during check in. Once I arrived they told me they were all out of kings and only had 2 doubles, we had no problem with that and then she later realized someone had already gone in and put us through with a King bed which I thought was great customer service! The food they serve is delicious! We ordered room service and we've also gone down (on another stay) and ate at the actual restaurant. We've ate breakfast and dinner there before. The hotel is about a 5-10 minute drive from Universal and since it's not on international drive you don't have all the traffic to deal with. Overall the hotel is very nice. It could use a small update in the rooms but the amazing customer service, food and location balances it out. Collapse

Arrived for business (me) and pleasure (spouse) to awesome property team. Modern clean entry with bottled water and juices right next to desk. Now...let's get the criticism out of the way...the rooms, while clean, could use refresh. Carpets are slightly worn, paint scuffed, some fixtures not as bright as could be and...for goodness sake...could we get a modern cable system. Bed is soft with great pillows and the shower's strong with great towels...and let's face it, that's what we care about anyway. That out of the way, this property has an all-star team...but let's call out Celine from the Tiki bar. Not just because she's a great bartender, but because she is a great representative of your property always with a smile, remembers your name and truly there to serve (not just pour). Location is only 10-15min from the major attractions (less than $15 by Uber) with plenty of nearby restaurants is you ant to switch out from the hotel restaurant. Breakfast has decent selection including an omelet bar - and another set of great staff. Wished the pool bar was open a little later (10pm I think) but we survived :) I received wifi for free, but not sure if it was a package...double check, but the system was plenty fast enough for both business work and streaming. I am an elderly semi-retired president of a small family corporation dealing in woodland acreage in Maine USA, and Canada (st-andrews-ca.com). This is my 3rd winter living in OrlanIdo. On Sunday May 14th at 2pm I was driving by the Crown Plaza hotel on Universal Blvd, and on impulse I decided to drop in and check things out. The young valet parking attendant was friendly and informative. He said the lounge would be cool and not busy at that time of day. So I went into the spacious and airy lobby, and in passing inquired about room rates. I found the rates surprisingly reasonable for such a classy hotel in such a convenient location, just off east-west Rt.482 Sand Lake road. I was solo in the lounge and had my virgin gin&tonic and the bar tender all to myself. I am a talkative senior citizen. Foreign languages & world geography are my favorite passtime. And East European graduate students on J1 work visas are a favorite target, for conversation. The lounge overlooked a most scenic poolside area, with an outside bar/bistro service. In due time I was outside, on a barstool at the kiosk bar, checking the bistro menu. And again was surprised by the many selections and agreeable prices. My college Russian is many decades old, but still a conversation starter with friendly East European waitresses. I spent a pleasant afternoon enjoying the hospatility of the Crown Plaza, and on passing through the lobby I asked to see a room with balcony overlooking the pool. The room, as expected, was open airy and chic. And I am booked for a weekend "getaway." I live about 45 minutes away on the south side of Orlando. Richard Guay Maine & Florida Collapse

I recently booked a hotel stay at this hotel for a weekend getaway. Then an employee quit and we couldn't get away. I cancelled the reservation and found out in little tiny text at the bottom of my cancellation email that I was charged for the first night's stay anyway. I never saw this when I booked the reservation and didn't find out until I received our credit card bill this month. So beware when you are booking with this hotel. You will get charged for one night whether you go or not. I won't book this hotel anymore. Collapse
