Stayed one night at this hotel. I had a good night of sleep out room was in the second floor opposite the station. Very quite room and bed was comfortable. The reason I am giving only 3 bubbles is because I had a dog sitting right next to me while having my breakfast. The dog was sitting down next to me staring at me at ever move I done. I am okay ish with dogs but outside in street in their leash. Not inside a breakfast room at an hotel. I found a bit disturbing Also it was not 11am and the staff started to clear up the breakfast buffet. It says breakfast was served till 11am. But it was not he case. I had to rush back and ask for a bowl to get some yoghurt as the staff had already taken away everything. Collapse

As a treat for my 80th birthday, my wife booked a two night break at the Crowne Plaza Lille. She'd looked at the reviews on Tripadvisor, and although there were mixed reviews, decided to go ahead and book the hotel. I'm very glad that she did. It's a lovely hotel and a fantastic location if you're arriving by Eurostar. You arrive at Gare Lille, step outside, and the hotel is across the street. The check in was excellent. We were welcomed by an extremely pleasant and helpful young lady called Lucie. She was very friendly and welcoming, and very helpful with directions into the "old town" centre. Lucie is definitely a great asset to the hotel-please don't lose her to another hotel! We even got a complimentary cocktail for my birthday-a really lovely welcome! From the outside we thought the hotel looked a bit grim with, what we thought, an odd looking rust coloured building, but once you step into the Lobby/Reception area, the outside is forgotten. Beautifully clean and spacious Lobby. Le Bar is an excellent place for an evening drink, or a casual coffee in the afternoon. The seats and sofas in Le Bar are extremely comfortable, and set out in a very convenient manner, which makes it seem cozy, and yet spacious at the same time. Again, the furnishings and fittings are immaculate-a real credit to the cleaners of that area.. The lifts are a little on the small side, and not particularly quick, but that certainly wasn't an issue for us. Our room, (a business queen room), was on the 8th floor with lovely views over the "old town". The room was spacious, very comfortable bed, and spotlessly clean with all the toiletries you would expect in a hotel of this calibrate. We had a drink in the bar each night, and the staff were excellent-especially Claire, who really was a lovely young lady with a superb manner. Claire was also in the restaurant on one evening. A really delightful young lady and very helpful. The restaurant where we had our breakfast was a lovely environment. The breakfast was lovely too, plenty of choice. The scrambled eggs were lovely! The staff at breakfast were first class, friendly and very efficient and helpful. Guillome served us in the bar with a bar snack and drinks on both days. Very helpful and pleasant young man. All in all an excellent stay. We did look at other hotels in Lille, but felt that the Crowne Plaza was equal to, and often exceeded the standard set in other hotels. We would like to make a special mention of some of the other staff who made our stay such a very pleasant one. Capucine and Maxime on reception, Jennifer in La Plaza restaurant, Thiboult on night reception who is a lovely young man, great attitude. We had great pleasure in meeting Beatrice Hoisne, Guest Relations Manager just before we left, wonderful young lady, excellent manner, very friendly and helpful. A real asset to the Crowne Plaza Lille. Thank you Beatrice for your kindness and help. Thank you Lucie for the lovely chocolate cake and fruit wishing me "happy birthday" just before we left for Eurostar. We'll definitely be coming back to the Crowne Plaza in Lille, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Lille. Thank you again all the staff at this lovely hotel. Collapse

This was my first time in Lille on a business trip and I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Lille Europe station and because of good experiences in the past with Crown Plaza in other cities. However, this particular hotel was quite disappointing: the room urgently needs an upgrading as it does not look that fresh anymore. I wanted a non-smoking room (and on the door outside of the room the was a clear non-smoking sign!) but as a non-smoker I could clearly smell that someone had smoked in my room just recently. The WiFi speed and constancy was simply terrible and not at the level of today's standards and of a five star hotel. Not usable for business purposes! The room was overheated and the air-conditioning was hardly cooling the room despite being at highest speed. The breakfast was good and the food choices were adequate for four stars, but the service at breakfast was almost non-existent. The empty tables were cleaned very slowly and the staff did not seem to care. For me overall not a satisfying experience and I definitely plan to chose a different hotel for the next time I will be in Lille. Collapse
