I travel a lot for work and leisure and I rarely do any reviews because i choose the hotels i stay in and never had issues to complain. But the way I was treated in this supposed to be 5 star hotel, I can't just let it pass by. Checked in with my wife and 2 year old daughter around 3.30pm and as soon as we opened the room, it was very stuffy and VERY HOT. The porter kindly switched on the AC for us and told us to wait for it until it cools the room. We left to the city center at around 6.00pm and on our way out I reported the AC to the receptionist as by that time the room was still hot. She confirmed that the technician will have a look. We came back at around 9.15pm and we found the AC on with a room card inserted to leave power to the room. The room was still VERT HOT. The unit was just cooling the area below it but that did not reach even the edge of the bed. The outside temperature was also high. I went back to the receptionist reporting again the AC. After a number of phone calls in Polish so I could not understand a thing, she said that she can't help! I asked her if we can change the room and she offered me two rooms - after discussing again with the porter for more than 5 minutes. From their body language I could easily see that they were unwilling to solve the problem. All the rooms were the same... every time they switched the unit on they turned to me saying - it works! Yes true just below the ac unit at the entrance not in the room! Their solution was to open the window with no breeze at all and mosquitoes. At that stage we agreed with the receptionist that we are going to leave the hotel, little that we know that more problems were on the way. Went down for the check-out and she wanted to charge us for 1 night! She was quoting the T&C of Booking.com. She did not want to understand that the hotel itself did not adhere to the booking conditions - a room with AC since this is what we booked! Later it turned out that they did not want to cancel the booking, because they would still need to pay the commission to Booking.com, which is much less than the amount we paid for staying for 2 hours in a hot room. I demanded an official letter explaining the reason why we are leaving so I could present it to VISA for a chargeback but it was refused. Ultimately we were forced to stay that night. Luckily I asked for 2 fans and were provided so we could sleep with some ventilation in the room being that we were 3 persons sleeping on a double bed. It the meantime, it was almost midnight. Being in 2017 in a 5 star hotel, surely it was not the alternative way to spend that night during our family holiday. The next day, it resulted that the technician was the receptionist herself. She confirmed that our case was sent to the management. Nearly 2 weeks passed and I am still waiting for an apology, as promised. We obviously checked out and booked another hotel in Krakow which was very pleasant and had an excellent customer service and a working air condition! This is not the way to treat customers irrespective if it is a 1 or 5 star hotel or in any business anyway. They made it look like that we are at fault and had no right at all. At the end of the day I booked a room with AC which they were not able to provide. . Is this the way a 5 star hotel solve a problem which is their fault? Besides, there are other previous reviews of guests saying that the air-condition wasn't working, so the problem has been there for a long time without solving it. The airconditions are very old and noisy, as the rest of the hotel as it needs a good refurbishment to be of a 5 star standard. Stay away from this hotel.. go for other cheaper and lower star hotels nearby which are much better. You have been warned. .. I was fooled by the staff and literally threw away time and money without getting a decent service. You will never get it right with them and they just take your money because they say that is the procedure! Dear hotel, the way you did not solve my problem (and of other travelers) was the first time i experienced in decades of travelling... Just when you are faced with a problem which is your fault do not just look for your monetary interests but try to understand your customers first and treat them with dignity without showing that you do not care. Hotel is far from the city and is actually in the middle of nowhere. Check in took nearly 15 minutes although there was nobody before us - this is only after we managed to park our car at the designated place which was guarded by a half-drunk caretaker who was mumbling stuff to us when we asked him stuff. Everything is closed after 11pm and you cannot even get drinking water. Our room wasnt prepared (mini bar empty, towels not ready) when we arrived so we had trouble in the evening. When we asked for dental kit from reception at midnight after coming back from town, we were told we have to pay over 6 euros for toothpaste but that there were no toothbrushes - they also come at a hefty fee if they had 'em anyway. There are no shops or kiosks around, not even a wending machine so we ended up sleeping without brushing our teeth. Hotel interior is at least 30 years old and everything looks sad and old. Breakfast was a nightmare, very few things to choose from and they were all unfortunately bad quality. Some rolls were at least 2 days old and they were hard as rocks. I dont know if I can write anything positive because it certainly isnt value for money, either. Stay away and dont ruin your mood by staying here until someone invests a ton of money at this hotel. Funny its shown as 5 star in some booking sites - this hotel isnt even 4 stars. It was a mistake and we arent coming back. Collapse

We decided to go to Poland last minute. Reading a review on another site decided to book the Crown Piast based on it being close to the Market Square 7km is not really that close! However, the room was cheap for the 3 nights we stayed. We had a penthouse suite which was massive. Two bedroomed, kitchen and spacious living area, its actually bigger than the average flat! Staff were friendly, although you cant change up any money but can use the cash point. Breakfast is continental, redeemed by bacon and eggs on the last morning! As mentioned, its 7km to the Market Square. averaging 30 Zloty (£6, 5 Euro) each way depending on the time of travel. It was worth staying there if you dont want the hectic atmosphere of the square all the time, but if you go out make sure its all day and it does mount up if you use the Taxis all the time. Collapse

Breakfast was not great at all scrambled egg dried,greasy sausages,mushrooms dry did not enjoy the food at this hotel and one toaster which holds 2 peices of bread and got taken away on a sunday dont know why? we got taxi into krakow every day and Hotel taxi driver excellent,but when in centre off town all taxi home were different prices.
