The Crathorne Hall Hotel is a country house hotel in a beautiful estate which has lovely walks. The hotel does not have a Spa, however that was not a problem to ourselves. From the minute we arrived until we left the staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is no bar but there is a lounge where drinks are waiter served. We had Afternoon Tea which was very nice, dinner and breakfast was also very good. Our room was spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you require, the bed was very comfortable. If you like a quiet relaxing hotel we would certainly recommend Crathorne Hall Hotel. Collapse

We booked this as a last minute deal for a Saturday stopover. I am sure the readers will be able to see from photographs that the building is a fantastic structure and it is set in lovely grounds. What you cannot see from the photographs is that it is really quite close to the A19, but any noise from the road really is quite minimal. The location is also very close to Yarm, a lovely market town with its wealth of quality shops, pubs and Tea / Coffee houses. Also, the Cleveland Hills provide a beautiful backdrop and an endless source of walking routes are only 15 minutes away. Finally, the coast with Probably (my opinion) the best coastline in Britain in merely 20 minutes away. On arrival, we were welcomed into the reception area and were immediately made to feel both very relaxed and very special. We were offered an upgrade for a minimal fee and given a lovely room with a balcony and views over the river and towards the Cleveland Hills. The room was big, warm, clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, we had a drink in the residents lounge, the service was prompt and the range of drinks extensive. Again, the attention given to us by the staff needs to be mentioned as they really did help to make the evening special. We were given the menu and plenty of time to talk through and make our selection (whilst working our way through several nibbles superbly put together by the chef). The dining area was, again, clean, well made out and welcoming for a comfortable meal. The dishes we selected from the table d'ote were excellently presented and prepared to perfection and the wine had been carefully looked after and complemented the food very well. The following morning, after a very comfortable sleep, my paper was waiting for me outside the room and the breakfast (I went for the Crathorne Breakfast), again was very tasty and sufficient without being over the top. Good quality food throughout. The checkout process was, again, quick and efficient. So overall, it is fare to say that we enjoyed it. It was excellent value for money, the staff were attentive without being "in your face" and the quality of food and wine was in the top drawer. Would we go again - absolutely. Would we recommend it to friends - absolutely. Thank you to all the staff for making the evening very special. Collapse

Lovely building from outside. "The Bar' has no seats and no staff apparently not in use. Tennant lounge bar is a lounge and has no bar. Room used for weddings soleless with hideous cheap artificial trees, terrible mix of colours for table covers and out of place modern lamps. There was a nice lounge with sofas and magazines etc with nice garden view. My main concern though was with our own room. The Ingleby at £169 per night (regular rate) you would expect perfection. We got cobwebs on toilet brush, thick dust on the plinth the bath was on. Bath tap dripped constantly. Shower cubicle door catches on the frame, shower is just warm on maximum heat. No DVD player (website states it does have - staff bought us one on request). Dirty runner on the bed. Is that all ......... Most definitely not the two lamps on the desk were DANGEROUS one had its wires put directly into the holes of the plug socket (no plug) and didn't work except when it came on briefly in the middle of the night by itself. The other had a plug which was plugged into a socket that was hanging off the wall exposing wires. Due to the weight of the desk they were one and the sockets being behind I could not get picture. See my other review regarding dinner. Collapse

We were visiting family who live in Ingleby Barwick, and we normally stay in the usual well known hotel chains establishments. This was a culture shock. We often have to pay upwards of £80 per night and with breakfast on top it usually costs just about £100 a night. For the extra £30 I would stay here again and again. The room we had was spotless and very comfortable. The Facilities were excellent, the Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the peace and quiet were just what we needed. We had breakfast which was as good as I have ever had. It was nice to be served by well trained staff who seemed to have a bit of a passion for what they do, Much different from the morons we so often encounter. Collapse

Gorgeous Christmas wedding with great rooms and service. We really enjoyed our stay and would visit again when not attending an event. We particularly enjoyed the Christmas decorations which added a great deal of atmosphere.
