I will start with the good:for the most part the staff is extremely friendly. I love seeing familiar faces and they are always flexible when I need to amend my travel plans whether I need a layer checkout or add an extra night due to cancelled flights. When I've called downstairs with requests for missing amenities, they are typically quick to bring it up. I do get annoyed though that as a platinum member, I always have to remind them about my market snack or perks. I shouldn't have to do that and it makes it seems like the company is cheap. Regarding the actual hotel, let me say I've been staying at this hotel for over 5 years and I'm extremely disappointed watching this hotel's quality go into a downward spiral. First, they changed the bedding and it is awful! Unlike any other Marriott I stay at, the pillows and sheets are similar to hospital sheets-scratchy and thin. Clearly they have sacrificed customers' sleep quality in attempt at cost savings. I love the bedding at the courtyard LA Live or the Marriott in Chicago so again, why is there such a discrepancy!? Multiple times, I have had to ask maintenance to fix the electric connected to t he bedside table due to the fact the outlets will turn off simultaneously with the lights. This means when you turn the lights off to go to bed and think your phone is charging....it's not. Also, why is there no door to the shower? This is a great place to stay if you love to freeze while you're trying to take a hot shower and get water all over the floor. The gym is extremely outdated and is one of the smallest hotel gyms I've ever stayed in! If you don't use a machine, you better hope no one else is trying to use the weights or yoga mat because it is not suited for multiple people. In my most recent stay, there was no ironing board and my bathroom sink was clogged. The next morning I also had to call for more coffee cups which is a little inconvenient. Other times, I've gotten two decaf coffees in my setup instead of regular coffee so housekeeping can be a little forgetful. I would recommend this hotel due to the convenience but I really hope they get it together because I know how good they can be! You can do it Marriott! Collapse

We stayed at this hotel the last weekend in July. We were in town for the Classic East concert at Citifield and we wanted someplace close to a subway station and close to Times Square. This hotel was perfect for that. We have Platinum Elite status and were able to check in on the Marriott mobile app and got into our room at 1:00pm. We were able to request some additional toiletries and towels on the app but the items weren't in the room when we arrived. When we left later that afternoon, we asked at the desk for those items and were assured they'd be there when we got back. They were not. We discovered we had no coffee cups (plastic water cups only) and only one keurig pod for the morning. We did get cups and (only) one additional pod but the toiletries and towels were a no show. Not a huge deal but definitely an issue where housekeeping is concerned. Perhaps some miscommunication between who fields the requests on the app and housekeeping. Our room was very clean as was the bathroom. Perfect temperature also. So many hotel rooms seem to warm up over night and this one didn't. We were on the 21st floor and heard minimal noise from the outside. Muffled traffic sounds. A great view of the Empire State Building! Our first night there, there was a dog in a room down the hallway and it barked for well over an hour. It had clearly been left alone. We called the front desk and they apparently took care of it because it stopped. Again not a huge deal but don't leave your dog if it's going to bark incessantly. The bathroom had good lighting and great water pressure. And as I mentioned, it was spotless. The hairdryer handle was all sticky and gross. A makeup wipe did the trick but again, it is something that needs attention from housekeeping The front desk staff was great!! So gracious and friendly. While we didn't get the extra items we wanted, every contact we had with them was positive. We would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it. The housekeeping quirks aren't enough to change my opinion. Those things can be worked on. The big things; cleanliness, quiet, location and staff friendliness are all a big positive. Looking forward to our next stay. Collapse

Overall, this was a pretty decent place to stay. You can't beat the location - it's a 5-minute walk to the heart of Times Square and it is off the main drag a bit, so there is not a crazy amount of foot traffic. It is next door to a 24-hour Duane Reade, which is also very nice. We went on a theater trip, so we were quite pleased with the location. The rooms are on the small side; however, there were 4 of us and I never felt overly crowded. The large window probably helped with that. The bathroom door is a pocket door and was exceedingly heavy and hard to close and open from the inside. So, be aware of that. The main thing I found to look out for is the elevators. There are 3, but with 30+ floors, the wait can be long. Once was out of service on our trip, so that added to the wait time. And being on the 11th floor, we often had to wait for a few cars to come because they got full from the above floors. Just be careful at peak times (morning and evening) Still, overall, not a bad deal and a great location! Collapse

We went to the front desk and our room was changed to a slightly better room. About 6pm, while we were changing, the door was opened and man and wife walked in on us. They had been given our new room when they checked in. The front desk had not corrected the info in their computer, but it was the same desk clerk changed ours only a short time before. This was not a very friendly place. Collapse

Stayed here for one night while in town for a quick meeting. (Well, most of one night. I arrived at 2 am and left at 10am.) I'd called to let them know I'd be arriving after midnight, and then checked in on the app before my flight took off. Front desk staff was friendly and my room was waiting, as promised. Only possible complaint was that the fridge in the room was the loudest I'd ever heard. Fortunately the plug was easily accessible, so I simply unplugged it. It was empty, so no problem there. No trouble checking out and storing my bag until I needed to come back and grab it on my way back to the train station. My meeting ran late and I thought I'd have to reschedule my train, but the bellman told me I had a good chance of making it if I hustled, and said it would be faster by foot instead of jumping in a cab. He even let me out a back door to save me an extra block. Ended up making my train by seconds. I was a sweaty mess, but it saved me the $100 difference in fare for the later train. It was a small thing for him to do, but much appreciated by this guest. Collapse
