The one star is for the location and the rooms, which are average for New York. The hotel is a bit old and tired but that seems to be the norm for quite a few Marriotts in the US. The ones in Europe have definitely had more money invested in them and for the most part have much classier decor. Some of the orange veneer in the bathroom was also starting to peel off so that was pretty unsightly. We had a room at the back of the hotel and although you could hear a bit of noise, it wasn't too bad and we slept quite well. However, we did encounter a few issues: Firstly, the hotel was packed and because of the public access to the Starbucks on the 4th floor (although you need a key card to get to the floors housing the guest rooms), the lifts were very busy and slow. Secondly, the servicing of the rooms was absolutely dire and sloppy. The milk pods were not replaced and they only give you two. My hubby went down and asked at reception for them to be replaced and after waiting in our room for 20 minutes, he had to then call down as they still hadn't arrived. It finally came after another 10 minutes so a total of 30 minutes to get four pods of milk. It would have been quicker to pop out to a convenience store to buy milk and bring it back! We didn't on principle obviously. One of the coffee mugs I had used and left on the bathroom sink also wasn't washed. Why not? The reception staff themselves were adequate. The only one that stood out was an American girl with curly brunette hair. She was very efficient and courteous. The rest were pretty lacklustre. The wifi was also very very slow and constantly reconnecting your device. Very annoying. I am guessing that the hotel is always full because of where it is located as its definitely not because of its great customer service. The Courtyard Marriott Manhattan should definitely take a leaf out of the Zurich (in Switzerland) Marriott's book. Now there's a hotel in the chain that REALLY knows what amazing customer service is all about!! Collapse

We stayed for 4days and found everything about this property to be excellent , some have criticised the room size but for a manhattan hotel we felt the room size was better than expected . The room Was quiet clean and with a very comfortable bed ( 2907 ) . Generally the location is a short stroll to all the main attractions and shops there is a wide variety of restaurants in the area , with regard to the staff everyone was very friendly and the check in was very efficient finally we wer offered a hotel car on our departure to the airport or a cab there was not a difference in price so we took the hotel car and were extremely pleased with the service - a very spacious vehicle which was spotlessly clean , the female driver was very polite and got us to the airport quickly and safely . All in all we recommend the hotel as probably the best we've stayed in in this price range having visited NY more than 20 times in the last 10 years Collapse

We found the hotel to be very well located for summer weekend getaway. We walked to Broadwy shows, restaurants, Central Park, and other tourist destinations. The staff was pleasant, but the cleaning crew was less than perfect. Due to booking confusions, we lost out on the type of room that had been requested leaving us in a MUCH smaller room, which ended up fine since the weather was conducive to being outside all day. The hotel bar and breakfast area was convenient, but the breakfast service was slow, so we walked to the nearby diner to grab a "city breakfast". Collapse

I read some great reviews on this hotel. It took me about 2 months to decide. When I walked through the doors I was glad that I did make this decision. The Staff were so kind and courteous. Answered ALL questions we had, and any additional accommodations were met with ease. The room was amazing the views alone, with the floor to ceiling windows staring directly at Times Square had me sold. I was very comfortable, Everything was nice and clean. And my second guest that arrived after myself was able to securely check in and come into the room with no problems. The only thing that I did wonder about was if there was a book to order room service available. But being the middle of everything...Times Square, we went onto Yelp and ordered something. When we were leaving we checked out, and they held our bags until we were finished sight-seeing and hailed our transportation for us. This may be something that most hotels in the area does, but we felt more than welcome, and that we were valued guests, along with the modern decor, and the deep soaking tub we had a relaxing yet fun vacation. For someone who chooses sleeping accommodations very carefully, this was the ultimate foundation to an amazing vacation. Collapse
