We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Munich for a few nights this month and couldn't speak more highly of our experience. The staff were excellent and always willing to help, especially when we accidentally left our train ticket in the room and we came back after we checked out and they found it and returned it back to us within 5 minutes, amazing customer service! The room was very spacious and had all the amenities you could want. Our room also had a brilliant YouTube TV setup, which allowed us to find English programmes if we wanted to watch TV in the evening, as we don't speak German. The hotel is also conveniently located just a short walk from Marienplatz and all of the sights and amazing architecture in Munich. The only slight downside is the area seems slightly rough, but this is not a reflection on the hotel at all.We had a room overlooking the street, but it was so quiet and we didn't hear any noise at all. Overall, I'd highly recommend anyonestay at this hotel, it's great value, the staff are excellent and the hotel is lovely! Collapse

A recent stay at Courtyard Marriott Munich "City Center" left me puzzled on a few fronts. Firstly the hotel's name - City Center to me would be within 5 minutes walking of Marientplatz - this hotel is a good 10-15 minute walk. A more appropriate hotel name would be Courtyard Marriott - Central Train Station - as the Munchen Hauptbahnhof (main train station) is literally 2 blocks, about 3 minutes walking from the hotel. The other notable point about the hotel's location are the number of casinos and "sport halls" and the associated patrons who frequent the sidewalks in front of and nearby the hotel at all hours of the day and night. I had a room on floor 2 facing the street and on a Friday night heard nonstop loud party noise, yelling, screaming, police and ambulance sirens.. Beside the lack of sleep, I really wondered exactly where I was and what was going on. As for the hotel itself, it is a typical Courtyard - serviceable in terms of room size, cleanliness, comfortable bed, etc. Overall quite OK in terms of amenities. Since I was using points and a combination of points and $ - the amount paid was not huge, with a full night running about 129 Euros. In some way this is getting what you pay for.. At check in I was told as a Gold member I would get free breakfast everyday - I had booked /paid 2 rooms so I was told this was for both rooms. Upon entering my room for the first time, the front desk person rang my room to inform me the free breakfast was only for my room and not the other room in my name and that breakfast is 22 Euros.. I did go to breakfast with my traveling partner thinking that at 11 Euros each probably not a bad price. However the breakfast is typical buffet with some made to order items (eggs, etc) but definitely not worth 22 Euros per person - when you can get much better selection and price outside the hotel - even Starbucks or McDonalds would be better. Finally at check out I was advised that indeed the breakfast had been included for both rooms and I was not charged for the 1 day. I just wish they had their act together on this given the price "penalty" involved for having to pay for breakfast. To this point I'm still not sure what the exact policy is for a Gold Marriott member booking 2 rooms? I also had a burger from the restaurant which was 13.50 Euros - again over-priced even vs. other Courtyard properties I've stayed (in the US this would be less than $10). Finally the hotel did arrange a taxi to the airport for me and it did arrive actually a couple of minutes early right to the front door. All in all... I really hesitate to recommend this hotel for folks excepting City Center. It's not a terribly long walk but it is a good 10-15 minutes and the first few minutes from the hotel are particularly "sketchy" in terms of the people hanging out on the sidewalk. If you're looking to be close to the train station for only a night or two and can get a rate of 120 Euros or less... maybe not so bad.. just don't expect to get any sleep, esp. on a weekend night. Bottom line.. I would not stay here again. Collapse
Stuffy noisy rooms and a lot of hassle Room booked: Deluxe room

Many problems with this hotel really spoiled our stay: the revolving door at the entrance that is fully manual, the two swiping devices in the lifts not working properly taking up to three swipes to get the lift moving, the issues with the rooms either too hot, noisy, too small or all of that, the shower you end up holding with one hand, the drain clogged, the attitude of the staff at the reception, the noisy office aircons and ventilation systems on the “quiet” side of the hotel, the lack of babybed, the surprise visitor without knock at the door to deliver a fan we never ask for. And the list goes on. Expecting a Deluxe 25sqm room with king size bed, we ended up in a small room on the third floor on the “quiet” side of the hotel, after the staff tried to shove us into an “accessible room” and after spending one night in a 2nd floor room on the noisy street side. Willy from reception were informed us that “too many king size beds in an hotel means bad business”. Should I care? The staff are relatively young employees giving the hotel a feel of training centre. The breakfast and restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. Most of the staff at reception is not customer orientated, can be condescending, not to say arrogant and make you feel you are "the next thing to expedite" in Courtyard´s money making machine. We simply expected a comfortable room and a good night sleep, hassle free. Courtyard failed. We feel like robbed of 700 USD. Collapse

We stayed here for just one night before heading to the Alps. The hotel was clean and the rooms were larger than expected. The area felt a little shady though. It was nicely located near a number a train stops which made getting around the city easy and then catching the train to Innsbruck was also convenient. The staff were nice, the restaurant was fine. There was not a huge menu selection, but the food was good. The breakfast buffet was very good, I loved the fresh honeycomb! I would recommend this for a brief stay in Munich. Collapse
