Hello:) to everyone who is reading this comment right now. I got my bachelor degree in hotel and restaurant management and currently studying at University of Edinburgh for my master degree. This "Courtyard" hotel cost me average 250 pounds per night and after my 5 days stay at this HOTEL I still have NO clue how come this budget hotel got franchised brand from Marriott... with no concierge, no complimentary breakfast for memberships, no slippers in your room for sure, housekeeping takes FOREVER. WOOOW!! According to my knowledge, courtyard means FOUR star ranking hotel but EXCUSE ME, you telling me this is a COURTYARD? Do you think I have intellectual disability or something? And then, here comes the most interesting part--BOTH of the front desk clerks laughed when my mother started talking and trying to help me explain our issue to them. WOOOOooooOOoW!!!!!! First time hearing ppl talking in second language? Super funny? Where is your manner? I guess your mother never taught you that. BTW... Their website advertised the room I ordered is a street viewing room and the front desk gave me the room viewing different types of rubbish bins. Fine. Thanking for giving me this horrible experience in my life and teaching me how rude people could be. Collapse

Very comfortable room. Helpful staff. we arrived in Edinburgh with no luggage (the airlines knew where it was - but it wasn't with us). We needed to arrange to have our luggage received while we left the Courtyard to go to the Highlands and the Isle of Skye. They received the luggage while we were gone and had it for us when we returned. Good location. Close to restaurants, theater, and shopping. Thank goodness for the shopping since we had to buy luggage and clothing! Good bar - which we needed given the confusion. Collapse

Nice "modern" refurbished property in the midst of theaters and restaurants a short ways to the Royal Mile. Rooms were modern although the view from the back was of other buildings and stared straight into the base of Calton Hill. Typical amenities of a Courtyard but only tried the bar for a nightcap which was excellent. Staff was friendly although wait times were somewhat long when it was check-in/check-out time. Overall a good stay with no glitches. Collapse

New Hotel at least since I was last in Edinburgh. Retained facade of Georgian building but built out new behind it. Nice bar and restaurant - much better than typical US style Courtyard Bistro. Good location at top of Leith Walk next to Playhouse theatre. Easy walking distance to Calton Hill, Holyrood Park etc. and to one of my favorite Pubs - The Cafe Royal. Several good restaurants nearby. We chose this location because of proximity to Tram station which allowed us to stay right in the city including our last night and made for a very easy early morning trip out to the airport. Recommended and will use again. Collapse

We stayed here in late June for 3 nights. Rates were kind of pricey for a Courtyard but it being peak tourist season, still affordable than a lot of properties. We took the train from London to Waverley station in Edinburgh which was a comfortable 10 minute walk to the hotel. Since the hotel is on a hill, the street level lobby was on 4th floor. Check in was fast and we got a room on one of the higher floors facing the street. We were given two drink vouchers at check in, being Gold Elite. Room was spacious and beds were comfy. Bathroom was decent sized. Shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Not used to the half shower door.... We had breakfast in the restaurant daily. It was a hit and miss based on the crowds. It was not too crowded on 2 out of 3 mornings but we did encounter a large tour group having breakfast on 3rd morning which made it quite crowded and not a pleasant experience. There were lines to get coffee and other breakfast items. Breakfast itself was decent with hot and cold options but nothing special. The best part of the stay was the location of the hotel. Walking distance to train station, Royal Mile, Queen street etc. Also, right behind the hotel was Calton Hill which provided great views of the whole city. We ended up going to Calton Hill for a walk every morning. Also, ton of restaurants all around the hotel- Italian, Thai, Indian and various cafes/bars. Overall, we had a good and comfortable stay at the Courtyard. Collapse
