Just back from a 5 day break at Costa Portals with my Sister. It was our 3rd Stay at this hotel and we will be back again next year. The hotel is set in a quiet residential area but only a short walk from both the beach and the Village. (Please be aware that there is a very steep hill going down to the beach) The hotel is spotless and maids cleaned our room every day. The restaurant is spacious and inviting and always a very good choice of food, including fresh fish, a meat dish, pizza, pasta and plenty of salad. The breakfast was also great with a variety of hot and cold dishes. The Waiters are very friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful pool with comfy sunloungers and a nice view of the sea. There was entertainment (Singers) twice during our stay which was a nice bonus. On the other nights, we ventured to the Marina by taxi (approx 7 Euros each way) where there are many bars and restaurants from where you can 'people watch' If you want music, Ritzi Lounge bar is lively. They had a great live band on the Sunday which is a regular event. Also Key West opposite has a lively bar upstairs. During the day, Roxy Beach Bar is a must! Just follow the path to the right of the bay around the headland and down the steps. This is an adult only hotel and wouldnt really appeal to those wanting a very lively holiday but if you want peace and relaxation with great beaches nearby, It is a great choice. Collapse

We booked a last minute holiday with Thomas Cook who booked us into this charming hotel in Portal Nous in Mallorca. The area where the hotel is based is largely a residential area, there being only one other hotel close by which happens to be the sister hotel of this one the RD group. The hotel is quiet with no children being allowed, rooms are basic but clean with a very good view of the bay from the balcony and in our particular room enough room for a sunbed which also looked down on the pool below. PLUS POINTS ARE peace and quiet, no noisy bars, food options fair choice and good. NEGATIVE POINTS, No Kettle in rooms, Tea served at b reakfast is weak, twin beds which move, very hilly area, big hill to go to the beach with a good climb back. On the whole a good break the staff do their best to accommodate you, we bought tea bags from a local store, and they supplied lots of hot water for us to make tea. The walks are fantastic when you go down to the beach which a small local cove and also not very busy which is nice you are then able to take a coastal path and walk within 10 minutes to the next bay where the marina is a fantastic view from the cliff top. The next day we took a bus No 106 from the bottom of the road into Palma Nova which is more touristy nice walk along front even a Mcdonalds ?? our best walk was from hotel up throght the little village and then down to the marina waled the marina and then along the beach up the cliffs and then pick off where we left off the previous day and then back over coastal path to ;little cove beach and up hill to the hotel. fantastic views. Bruno the bar and restaurant manager is fantastic as are the rest of the staff all smiles entertainment every other evening. On the whole a good experience we are going to return again probably next year. Collapse

The hotel is on top of a hill over looking the sea first impressions are good and the hotel is clean , The rooms are somewhat dated but clean unfortunately our wooden floor was rotten just outside the bathroom which needed urgent attention , However we just decided to not mention this to reception . The main problem was when you went for breakfast you had to queue no real problem but then asked to leave before finishing you breakfast my wife then decided for the rest of the stay to take a coffee and biscuit outside to assist with the demand for a table only to be told this is not policy !!!! it is not our problem the restaurant is fair to small for the amount of guest staying . On our final day we were shown to a shower room that can only be described as disgusting with only cold water and shower heads missing when I reported this to reception they were unable to help even though they have a sister hotel virtually next door totally unacceptable for a hotel not to offer a hot shower Collapse

i booked this hotel for a short break in october and didn't want to spend too much. we booked half board and requested a sea view which we paid extra for. the balcony was fantastic with sunbeds and a sea view couldn't fault it. the room itself was clean and basic, the air conditioning worked fine if you closed patio doors right. the bathroom was clean with just a shower no bath, but the water pressure wasn't very good. the beds were not the best and to be honest those two points were the only let down. the maid was lovely and very obliging. forgot to mention the reception staff were very nice and booked in smoothly. the restaurant was very nice an the breakfasts brilliant. the coffee machine a bit hit and miss. the evening meals were ok but you would never starve, always a good choice, the staff very attentive but not in your face. the bar staff very good and drinks were lovely, do nice sangrias. the pool area very clean and the pool itself lovely, albeit small. the location as previous comments state is a bit out of the way but as long as your legs are working there are some lovely walks nearby and the small village nearby. overall i would highly recumbent the hotel definitely worth 3 stars and a big thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay. Hotel Costa Portals is located in a lovely (very quiet) area. This hotel is probably more aimed at older couples and not for the young. The pool area was lovely (extremely small which made it hard to get a bed) When we stayed in August of this year it was a very busy time for the hotel so we opted to go to a lovely beach a 5 minute walk away, which was handy however it is all up hill on the way back therefor wouldn't be good for people whom don't enjoy walking or are unable to walk far. Again the beach is very small and quiet, only one shop at the beach. There is a small strip of restaurants near by (10/15 minute walk) we would recommend the Ship Inn which is an English Bar, staff are extremely friendly and the food is lovely! Another restaurant which is just to the right of the hotel done the most amazing curry! (Not sure of the name however is the only one there so you cant miss it) We did choose to go out of the hotel to eat as there is not a lot of options inside and waiting staff could be rude at times, numerous times I hadn't finished eating and they'd take my plate away. There was one receptionist who was extremely helpful to us and gave us the details of more lively spots we could visit. Rooms are very small, basic and shabby. We requested a room with a balcony when we booked and when we arrived we were on the first floor and our balcony was not a balcony at all it was a yard with 2 cats in. We paid £1000 for 10 nights half board and personally it was a waste of my money. The morning we were due to leave we wanted bottled water for our journey - we were getting collected from the hotel at 8am - the bar was open however no staff were around we waited 35 minutes to get served and with no luck we had to leave to catch our flight. This is terrible service to guests. Collapse
