While having relatively low price, it combines texture and service that seems to be a 5 star hotel. The building is not new, but maintenance is also done and there is no dissatisfaction in the room and the water. As location requirements, it is inconvenient to use BTS and MRT, but if you use a taxi, you may be able to avoid congestion more than a hotel facing Sukhumvit Road. Collapse

Stayed there on a number of occasions previously. However, latest stay does not feel as special as previous. Although rooms are big and clean, it is just like a typical business hotel with nothing special to set it apart from others. Food selection at both the breakfast restaurant as well as the executive lounge has reduced compared to a year ago when I was there. Staff are also functional though helpful and cheerful. Overall, the hotel does not give one a sense of being a special guest. Would try another hotel when I next visit Bangkok. Collapse

Stayed last week for 2 nights as a couple (our last 2 nights of a 17 day Thailand holiday), being Honors Diamond members. We enjoyed our stay but we expected even better for a Conrad in SE Asia. Service-wise some of the staff members were only so so and not in line with other experiences we have had in Asia (Bali, KL, Malaysia, Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai...) Check in experience was ok, nothing 'wow' about it but efficient (no drink or cold towel offered like in other 5* SE Asia hotels), not as welcoming as we would have thought. The room: We received an 'upgrade' to an executive room (hotel was full) and despite being only a 'modest upgrade' we liked the room a lot with the lovely open bathroom and the comfortable bed, classical in style but nice. Amazing skyline views! They brought some local sweets to the room later that day as a welcome gift, very much appreciated. They also provided turndown service which was nice (nice to have new fluffy towels after having an afternoon shower). Pool area: Very nice and resort-style (surrounded by large plants and trees) and a lovely retreat from the heat after a day of sightseeing. The pool area is not that sunny but to be honest, who want's to lie in the sun in BKK? The huge jacuzzi bath was colder than the pool and that was disappointing though. The garden area could use a clean up as well (some dead plants and brown leaves). Breakfast was nice (we choose to use the main restaurant) but was chaotic at times, it was hard getting a cup of coffee and coffee or juice were never pro-actively refilled at your table (like you would expect in this class of hotel). The restaurant is also smallish for this size of hotel. Location was for us perfect, the walk to the BTS is not bad at all and everyone that is in decent shape shouldn't have any problem at all (I don't understand the bad comments about location by some reviewers). Executive lounge: A nice and classy environment with comfortable furniture, lovely views and smooth lightning and background music. Afternoon tea lovely with delicious scones and various patisseries (amazing vanilla macaroons!). Evening offerings nice as well. Decent hot and cold options and a good choice of drinks (mojito's were only average, especially compared to the ones at the Hilton Pattaya executive lounge!). Some staff members were nice, others not so (they asked our room number 6 times on the first night!!). When I asked the lounge staff about the possibility of getting a late checkout (our intercontinental flight back home was at 9pm in the evening) they couldn't help me but when I asked at the front desk the day after I managed to get 2pm (better than nothing) but I was assured "that we could use the executive lounge until the moment of departure" (I didn't ask). The day after, during checking out in the executive lounge this was a huge problem though and we were basically asked to leave after the afternoon tea ("we are fully booked and guests have to leave maximum 1 hour after checkout time"). When I answered the executive lounge staff that we were told different by the front desk they agreed on allowing us into the lounge again later that day. Unfortunately when we came back from the pool later that day I had to get trough the same discussion again with the executive lounge manager. In the end we had to 'fight' for getting lounge access until 6pm (the time we booked a taxi to the airport) Really...?? To be honest the hotel compensated me with 5K Hilton points for the inconvenience (after I raised the issue online) but it wasn't a nice experience and when we are back in BKK (most probably in 6 months time) we won't stay here again as there are so many options to choose from in this huge city with it's very competitive hotel market... Being Diamond members we decided to stay at Conrad this time around in Bangkok. The hotel once was, desperate need refurb. Our room had cigarette burns in the curtains, broken furniture, mouldy shower head, really smelly air con and stained carpet and bedding! We had a lovely manager come and see us and I really felt for her as it’s not her fault. As I have said the air con was really musty I couldn’t deal with this and why should we in a room that’s worth $350aud a night. The manager said she had no other rooms and said that she was sorry but she knows room is bad and that they all are and that they are having renovations next year! I did feel so bad for her, poor lady probably deals with this everyday. The executive floor was a major let down food was sub standard compared with other nearby hotels such as Pullman Sukhumvit, Pullman King Power & Eastin Grand Sathorn all at a much lower price point but quality in my opinion is far superior.
