Went to an event here last night (Sunday 18th March) in The Ryan Room of the hotel. First of all there was ample car park spaces and I had no problem in finding a space for my car. I was greeted kindly by the receptionist and the staff down in the Ryan Room were exceptional. The room itself was the perfect area for an After-Party event with plenty of seating (not that the seating was used with all the dancing) and plenty of dancing space! The staff themselves were beyond excellent with the floor staff providing a wide variety of finger food that tasted absolutely delicious. The bar staff (Cian, Peter & Aidan) had the utmost patience and class and kept us hydrated for the night. A special mention to the door bouncer on the night who was very friendly, kind and helpful as I was leaving the event! Thanks to all the Connacht hotel for a very successful and enjoyable night! My husband and I stayed here for two nights over St. Paddy's weekend. Overall our room was OK, but it definitely felt older and basic. We thought it was a bit pricey considering the condition and the distance from the city center—there's a bus stop nearby, but the buses don't come by too frequently on weekends, and it's about a 25-minute walk to Eyre Square or a €10 taxi ride. But then again, we were here for St. Paddy's so we likely paid more than the average nightly rate. Our room faced the main road, but fortunately we didn't hear any street noise or even any noise from neighboring rooms. There's a Spar and a cash machine across the street, which was convenient. Unfortunately, we encountered WiFi issues on our last night. We got back to our room around 8 p.m. and found we couldn't connect. We let the front desk know and we were told someone was working on it, but it remained down the rest of the night (until at least around 11, when we went to bed). The gym, however, was probably one of the nicest hotel gyms we've used. Lots of cardio and weight machines, and the pool area looked very spacious. Collapse

We had a 2 night stay at the Connacht Hotel. We were a group of 8 adults and 8 children celebrating Confirmation. The hotel which is on the outskirts of the city is large, clean and has a good atmosphere. We were checked in by a very friendly young man who was very helpful. We had booked a family room which consisted of a double bed, single bed and a fold up camp bed. The camp bed was not comfortable and my 7 year old woke regularly during the night. This is not normal for him. The family room in my opinion is only suitable for 3 people. The camp bed made the room very cramped. The wardrobe hanging space is very small. When we arrived in the room there were 4 very thin pillows, 2 bath towels for 4 people and a very damp camp bed. However this was all very quickly rectified with a phone call. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and all the food was very good. There is a huge choice for breakfast including pancakes which the kids enjoyed. The pizza menu was a big hit with the kids and I enjoyed a beautiful smoked salmon started on the Saturday evening which just needed a wedge of lemon to make it perfect (which Mark very kindly brought for me) The steak was very good but needed a little onion and mushroom to make it perfect. Forget this extremely wet lettuce that is served with everything, it doesn't add anything or at least spin it. Three members of staff that enhanced our stay was Mark, Sarah and Salin? (Duty Manager). The young lady who made our husbands move 2 tables down on Sat afternoon to eat their sandwiches while they were enjoying watching the Rugby was extremely annoying. Seriously! Ok so they weren't sitting in your little lunch section but some common sense should prevail. They just wanted to watch the Rugby and eat a sandwich . Another thing to consider if your staying with kids is that under 18s are not allowed in the bar area after 9pm (which is where all the entertainment and live music is). So plan early nights. On the Sat evening there was an older gentleman patrolling the hotel and reception area who seemed intent on making all the children's lives as miserable as possible. This gentleman may benefit from some training. All in all this was a pleasant stay with good food and some very nice staff. Collapse

I haven't had the pleasure of staying here yet, but we recently had our sons confirmation at the hotel and if it was anything to go by, then I'm in no doubt it would be first class! Rebecca who took our booking, couldn't do enough and ensured everything went like clockwork on the day. The food was delicious, the friendly staff provided us with superb service and that was no mean feat, as the place was very busy. There was a great atmosphere, good music and plenty of places to base yourself in the foyer or main bar. Other highlights included a great kids club, superb pool and there was plenty of car parking to boot. We look forward to coming back and plan to make a family w/e of it. Thanks All! Collapse
