I stayed here for a weekend. The location is great and overall the experience was good. There are always things to be improved and some others that have been better than in another hotels in this city. The good things: - Incredibly friendly staff. Check-in and out was very fast and there was always someone willing to help, order a cab, or give us tips for restaurants, spas and other things to do in the area. I asked for late check out and they quickly check, giving us the possibility to stay up to 3pm with no extra charges. - Very clean room. I could never stay in a place that looks even a bit dirty. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom as well. - Excellent location: It all depends on what you want to do, but for me the main goal of the trip was just to be able to walk around the city and enjoy different restaurants. I barely used taxis because I was able to walk everywhere. - Great curtains and outside sound isolation. I was a bit scared of the location because our room was facing the Passeig de Gracia and I need the room to be quiet in order to get some sleep. I was pleasantly surprised when I closed the curtains, because they blocked almost all the noise from outside. - High amount of toiletries from a good brand and a real hairdryer: I hate when hotels have a hairdryer that looks like a toy. In this case it was a very good one. The things that could be better: - The rooms are a bit small. I stayed at a Condal Room and by the pictures I saw in their website/tripadvisor/booking, I was expecting a bit more space. - Pillows were really bad. I had to buy a new pillow and get a back massage in a nearby spa the next day. - Overpriced basic breakfast: there are at least 8 coffee places offering breakfast in the same block of the hotel. I suggest to not book the breakfast here because you can get something much better if you walk 10 meters. (If you walk 15 minutes I highly recommend "Brunch & Cakes"). - Thin walls. Even when the isolation from the outside noise was very good, on the inside it is very easy to listen everything that happens along the hallway. I recommend booking a room far away from the elevators. - Roof top was closed: I would have liked to be informed that the bar at the roof top was closed due to reparations. I may have not changed my booking, but it is always to feel you have all the information. Collapse

Check in was fine , room comfortable and well equipped , however the shower door and seal was encrusted with lime scale, black mould and red staining from the bacterium; Serratia marcescens. Showering was not a relaxing experience; the shower water temperature fluctuated wildly, the cold water pressure reduced and the water became uncomfortably hot several times during a shower. My safe was unusable during the whole 5 night stay. I reported the low battery twice and carried my valuables around every day to leave the safe empty and accessible for the staff ; to no avail. Breakfast was great but there seemed to be no-one responsible for table clearing. One lady worked hard topping up the bread and so on; another ticked off room numbers as guests arrived in between chatting to a lady in the 'bar' who seemed to have no role at all; a middle-aged gentleman in a suit was also often near the bar talking to these latter ladies, but meanwhile it was impossible to sit at a table with fellow travellers because of the mound of dirty dishes. Evening meals were disappointing. The brightly lit room lacked atmosphere and the small portions were supplemented with many servings of bread. New Year's Eve was the pits. Our group arrived 'early' at 8 pm, as planned so that we could leave at 11pm to see the fireworks. In spite of our tour managers efforts it became clear that our courses were much delayed by slow service to be synchronised with those of the guests arriving an hour later . Not that there was much to eat; only lots of 'foam' - usually green and tiny portions of emulsified food passed through an icing nozzle interspersed with yes; more bread. I think the price was 135 EU ; a rip off . We had to abandon the meal after three hours to enjoy the firework display.... Collapse

We arrived tired and jet-lagged and were greeted by a comforting, friendly face. Our travel agent had somehow messed up our reservations, and the hotel had received our friend's, but not ours. In comes our super receptionist, Jordy, who not only managed to get us a room next to our friends, but also a better rate! We were thrilled! The hotel has parking right underneath (a rarity in Barcelona), and is conveniently located a couple of blocks from La Rambla. It is right across all the luxury stores, and there is an ample selection of cafes and restaurants close by. The room was luxurious and the pillows and towels divine! I will definitely keep Condes as my hotel to stay in on my next visit to Barcelona!! Collapse

My family loved it when they came to see Barcelona. My Peruvian partner at the time organised a great room with a small terrace overlooking Gaudi's La Padrera. Service was first class. The much needed improvements and major renovations have now been completed so if you need a nice place close to the designer shops of Passeig de Gracia...and Gaudi's modernist architecture....QUE MAS QUIERES?
