Silversea cruises recommended this for a 2 day stay prior to a cruise. We booked and paid through the cruise line. The location is great. Walkable everywhere. My phone said I walked 7 miles one day and 10 the next. The hotel sells itself as a boutique hotel that used to be a palace. I could see no remnants of "palace". It was a modern hotel on top of a block of retail shops. Very exclusive retail shops. I expected it to be more luxurious since it was part of a Silversea package. But it was very nice, quiet, great breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, and you can't beat the location. Rooftop bar gets great reviews, but it's a view of other rooftops. Collapse

Chose the Condes de Barcelona b/c of it's location to the place I was staying for a wedding and the reviews. The hotel is wonderful. The staff are polite and friendly. When we arrived for check in the lobby was packed w/ guests checking out, it was pretty hectic. But the two gentlemen at the desk handled it all with calm politeness. The rooms are a nice size, definitely spacious enough for two people to move about without getting in each others way. There are two shower heads and two separate sinks. Our room was on the 6th floor w/ views of La Pedrera and La Familia Sagrada in the distance. The rooftop pool is lovely for relaxing in the sun. The breakfast was varied for all diets, I was glad I took that option to have it included. The location is perfect, you can walk to Placa de Catalunya in 10 min or hit La Rambla in about the same time too. It's a block a way from Rambla de Catalunya which is an amazing street w/ lots of restaurants and cafes. I would definitely stay there again. Collapse

This Hotel is located in a great location in Barcelona for shopping and so much more! What made our stay awesome was most definitely the staff. They were extremely helpful and Aduega (I am probably spelling her name wrong) was the star of the show! My husband and I honeymooned in Barcelona without any real plans, she made us restaurant reservations, helped us get tickets to the Football game and made many suggestions for the duration of our stay. My husband was pretty bummed we couldn't get tickets, she made a call to our room 1 hour before the game with cheaper tickets than anything we could find online. If you want a hotel in a great location, with nice rooms and amazing staff, Book this place! Collapse

Location, location, location, just next to branded stores such as Hermes, LV, Chanel, ets. Near by with restaurants and supermarket. Very neat 4 stars hotel. Very clean, nice size room, good amenities, great service. One of the stand out feature is the big 48 inch led tv, I rarelu see a 4 stars hotel in europe who use this size of tv. To sums it up, why stay a the 5 stars just accros the street and pay almost double. Collapse

Making a week-long reservation at an unfamiliar hotel is always unnerving, because if you've chosen wrong, your trip will be diminished. But within a few minutes of arriving at the Condes De Barcelona, I knew I had chosen well. The gentleman who checked me in was welcoming. The room preferences I had requested were honored. The room was attractive and impeccably clean. The wifi signal was strong. And I could tell just by looking out the window that I would enjoy the neighborhood. The hotel is located near two Metro stops, Diagonal and Passeig de Gracia. If you have just one piece of wheeled luggage, it's an easy walk from the Placa de Catalunya, where the airport bus stops. If you don't want to walk, you can take the Metro to one of the previously mentioned stops, but if you have a lot of luggage you will probably prefer a taxi. A good staff is key to enjoying any hotel, and this staff is excellent -- professional, friendly and eager to help guests enjoy their stays. I wish I had written down the name of the night-desk employee who was especially helpful in making suggestions and reservations. (It begins with the letter A, but I couldn't clearly read her name badge.) She was the standout, but everyone with whom I dealt provided good customer service. A good night's sleep is also crucial, and the room I had provided that, with a comfortable mattress, good pillows, and double windows that eliminated street noise. I didn't reserve a room with breakfast, but was offered a special breakfast rate at check-in. If that special exists when you check in, you will have to decide on the spot whether to take it. So here are things to consider. The special rate is a good value for a breakfast with a large selection of foods, constantly replenished by an attentive staff. On the other hand, you will realize once you start exploring the neighborhood that there are wonderful coffee shops and bakeries nearby. Once I saw those, I wished I had booked some breakfasts at the hotel and left other mornings free to try other venues. There are numerous places to eat, at all price points, within an easy walk of the hotel. If you enjoy walking and the weather is good, you'll find it pleasant to go on foot to the old city, the Sagrada Familia and several other attractions. Two of the Gaudi houses are located within several blocks of the hotel. I experienced only small disappointments -- the fact that the whirlpool and rooftop pool were unheated, and the fact that smoking was allowed in the rooftop bar, which has beautiful views of the city but had lots of second-hand smoke in the air when I visited. Those things won't bother everyone, and even for me, they didn't diminish my overall feeling that this hotel is a wonderful base for seeing Barcelona. I'd choose it again without question. One note on room selection: Look at online photos before choosing one of the two basic room styles, which the hotel calls Urban and Condal. I choose Condal and was very pleased. As I understand it, that room category is the most recently renovated, but I learned that some people prefer the Urban style because the rooms have a different type of window and more light. You can probably tell which you'd prefer by looking at photos or communicating with the hotel before you book. Collapse
