We stayed June 12 - 15, 2017. Good location close to subway and LCBO. We were aware the building was being renovated. We did not hear nor see any construction during our stay. Our room on the 5th floor was brand new. Very large room, bathroom and sink/dressing area. Bed, bedding, pillows, and bathroom linens were all lovely. Carpet has been replaced with concrete look flooring, one exposed brick wall and exposed pipes and wiring for an industrial look. Absolutely no problem with hot water as noted in an early review...it was actually too hot so caution was needed. Plenty of hangers and storage space. Breakfast was fruit, yogurt, muffins, tea/coffee set up on a table in the small lobby (which has yet to be renovated and will be more than double the current size). Breakfast was available 7 - 9 a.m. My husband went down each morning at 8 a.m. and there was no shortage except for coffee...two mornings he had to go back down once it had been replenished. There is nothing to transport your breakfast so if you're picking up for yourself and any others in your room, best to bring something to carry everything. Breakfast time was the only time there was an issue with the elevator. As stated, only one elevator right now and the housekeeping staff were using it at that time of the day so there was significant wait time. New room doors will be installed so for now there is a substantial gap at the bottom of the door which allowed all hallway noise into the room. The air conditioner was working 100% but unfortunately it was situate under the window right beside the bed....not a good location due to the noise. No blackout curtains on the window...roller blinds which allowed early morning light in at the sides. Our room had the cupboard available for a fridge yet to be installed. There were also two other cupboards in that location...perhaps one was for a future safe? There was also only one chair in the room at the desk area but there was certainly space for a small table and another chair. No ice machine in the building at this time. TV signal was hit and miss. We were told at checkout that there will be a restaurant on site when the renovations are completed. All in all we were happy with our stay especially for the nightly rate we paid for being in that location. Based on the room renovation, I'm sure the hotel will be lovely once all the building renovations have been completed. Collapse

Firstly the hotel was doing renovations which made the stay interesting. When i first arrived i thought i was staying at a construction site. There was only 1 lift in the hotel working which contractors, housekeeping and guests all used which made wait times long sometimes or you could not get in the lift as there was a linen trolley. The breakfast was very average and was on a small table in the lobby. It is more of a grab and go coffee, danish and fruit. If you are not there early you could miss out also as some guests are greedy and grab lots. When we arrived at the room i was unsure weather it was complete or half the renovations were done as there was a bit of dust around. The bathroom looked complete and very nice with a spacious shower. But the room did not have a hair dryer or coffee machine. These were bought up by hotel staff once a phone call was made to reception. Only some of the TV channels worked as the others had no signal so hit was hit and miss when chosing a channel. I did like the personal wake up call and was suprised to hear a persons voice instead of a generated message. The hotel also has a security guard over night which ensures the safety factor. The location is good for downtown and walkign distance to shops, bars and eateries. We even walked to the Blue Jays Stadium from the hotel. Apparently the hotel is not going to be a Comfort anymore. We got to this place knowing there were renovations going on. We had 2 nights book only to learn at the front desk that Comfort Hotel changed our reservation. They had us at the Bond Hotel down the street on our first night and back with there the second night. We were going to the Jays game in the morning and could not change hotels.. I agree with previous post that there is no where to park while you "check in". Windows were covered with paper which made the place look shady .. I will not ever stay here !! Thankfully we got 2 nights at the Bond !! Beware !! Collapse

what a terrible experience in that hotel!! is remodelling, so everything was dirty and I was with allergies all the weekend, NO PARKING PLACES, you must stop in the middle of the street stop the traffic and Run with your luggage to the hotel .... when I took my shower, that reminded me Niagara Fall .... all the water running out of the shower and drying with the towel all the floor... specially when you going to seat at the toilet everything is wet and cold .. NOT CONFORTABLE AT ALL!!! no drinking glass , i'm so disappointed with that hotel, I won't return anymore, specially I was with my partner, and that suppose to be our mini vacation.... Collapse

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel on May 25 & 26. On arrival we noted the original lobby entrance was closed. The hotel was being redone. The check in was seamless however we noticed a lot of renovations in the building. We were not told when booking the hotel was under remodelling and updating. The front desk assured us there would be no disruptions. The front desk staff was pleasant and efficient. The gentleman at the front desk helped my partner and I pick a restaurant for the evening. They had offered to call and make reservations for us. On our way up to our room we noticed only one elevator was in order (this did not affect our stay). Back in our room we were settling in and expecting a phone call to the room to confirm our time for supper. Our room was quite large - I was very impressed. I've stayed in downtown Toronto before and this room was spacious. I was pleased to see our room had been updated. It was very clean - two large screen smart televisions and a spacious bathroom. I believe we were the first guests to stay in this room as it smelled new. The view from the room left a bit to be desired. We were directly looking at the alley of the strip club. There was no coffee maker in the room either (my partner and I are big coffee drinkers). The bed was comfortable and the pillows were soft. There was a small window in the bedroom which opened a bit to allow some fresh air. We did not receive a phone call from front desk regarding our supper reservation so I attempted to call down. The phone was not even connected (this did not affect our stay as we had cell phones but it would have been nice to have been informed of this on check in). I could not call out or down to the front desk. The front desk staff had slipped letters underneath our door to communicate. Strange, yes but it did the trick. We did make our reservation thanks to the front desk staff. That night however, I tried to shower and could not get hot water. I read reviews about this hotel concerning the hotel hot water and yes, they were right. The hot water took nearly 30 minutes to get and did not last when it was there. It made for a very short shower which was undesirable. The following day, alarms went off at about 12pm for about a minute. The alarm was very loud but thankfully we were awake. When we inquired at the front desk, we were told it was due to the construction. This happened again during our stay. The lady at the front desk was not as pleasant when we mentioned this to her. I did not try the breakfast to go at this hotel as we weren't able to grab the breakfast between the short time span of 7AM-9AM. We were told the breakfast would be placed on a small table near the check in desk (must be a bagged breakfast to go?) Besides the alarms randomly going off, the strip club across the street from the window, and the delayed hot water this hotel was good for what we needed. We were touring the city, shopping, and out often so the hotel was great for our needs. Overall, this was a clean hotel. Some of the staff was excellent while others should rethink their job choice and not be in the hospitality industry. The biggest plus was the room size. Collapse
