Absolutely fantastic hotel! Stayed for 2 weeks all inclusive. The food is spectacular. Different variety to choose from every night there's also a gluten free section which was perfect for myself being a coeliac and I struggle to find holidays abroad to cater to my diet. The room was perfect for the two of us, but I my only complaint for the holiday is that our room was not cleaned quite to the standard we expected. The lower sheet of the bedding wasn't changed for the entire holiday, however the rest of the room was spotless. What really compelled me to write this review is that the entertainment was incredible. Jaime and Mhairi were wonderful, we never spent a single day without doing at least one of their activities and considering we booked a few excursions that says a lot. They really helped integrate a sense of personality to the Columbus that I hadn't found anywhere else prior. The same goes to the new starter Jess, and we wish her all the best for the future. The bartenders were excellent, they were on the ball all the time and within the first few days produced our orders like we were locals. I must also give special thanks to Juan and lorena for on top of being incredibly professional baby stepping my partner though his Spanish lessons! If I ever go back to an all inclusive holiday the Columbus will definitely be on my list. Collapse

Firstly, don't ever be put off by holidaying in Tenerife in November - we experienced temperatures around 24-28°c. Our hotel, the RN Columbus caters for all levels of bed & board - we went All Inclusive. It is located by the sports stadium and is only a short distance from the sea front. Restaurant food was of a typically good standard which included everything from cereal, continental to full-on English breakfasts. For lunch & evening meals... Soup, pizza, pasta, salad, hot and cold meats, various fish and veg, plus a variety of deserts and ice creams were available. Red & White wine on tap along with soft drinks and lager and there were 2 machines for coffee and hot water for tea. I would advise to purchase bottled water as the stuff coming out of the machines had a metallic taste. The restaurant also sold bottles of wine. Accommodation… this consisted of 2 blocks (A over reception and B to the rear of the property), each with 6 floors. The blocks are well ventilated as front and rear rooms are separated by an open space which continues throughout the levels which is without any roof. Also, the stairs at either end had slats which provided both the walls and more ventilation (our section in block B had a pond and zen garden at the base. I did note in block A that there was a cactus garden). The layout of blocks appeared that the outer rooms were larger than the more central one (although I cannot confirm this - it just looked to us that 3 rooms took up the same space as 4 in the middle). The corridors and rooms were all tiled in the same stone as the public areas. Our room in block B was on the 4th floor at the back and enjoyed a reasonable sea view. A lot of people missed that there were no rooms on the back of the block B 6th floor as it was in fact a sun terrace. I didn’t get a chance to see if the same of block A. Finally, there were also some pool side “bungalows” which I do not know the layout of. Poolside… At the rear of block B is a large sun terrace and small pool, between the 2 blocks were the main pools (x2) a large Jacuzzi and kids pool. Around the pool were plenty of sunbeds (for which nobody queued up for in the early hour – maybe that was a November thing?), seating around the bar area was adequate for the number of holiday makers present. The All Inc bar did the usual local drinks and food as well as a fair selection of chargeable beverages and snacks – again, I would suggest buying bottled water. There were additional non All Inc bars and a pizza/snack bar as well as a shop, hairdressers and launderette scattered around the ground floor. Also, there is a spa under block B and above the “bungalows” were sun terraces. Entertainment… (Note - as there weren’t many children over there at the time, that part was closed) To be fair, entertainment was the Achilles heel of the hotel – not many activities were available, the poolside quizzes were printed on over copied photocopies so a lot of the time were unreadable (plus on a few occasions the answers were inaccurate). Evening entertainment was pretty much a washout for us but some did seem to enjoy themselves. Best night was when 2 of the team sang live – one of which was pretty damn good, the other quite good. The hotel catered for smokers by providing an area outside of reception with seating and ashtrays. It was just a shame some people were so selfish to light up around those of us who did not want to smoke. I would like the hotel to ban smoking by the pool and bar areas in future – I know some will rant about it being a free country but it isn’t fair on non-smokers or asthmatics. One last point I would like to bring to the hotels attention – although I feel the hotel catered well for disabled guest (they have level access to ground and lifts everywhere else), one thing I did notice were the lack of disabled toilets. I would also like to thank the staff in all areas for carrying out their jobs really well. Collapse

Stayed here for a week with my partner for a bit of winter sunshine. Check in was quick and easy we were in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor and it was amazing had everything you needed... the only complaint about the rooms is you can hear everything at night time so if u are a light sleeper it might be a problem but we didn’t let it bother us, we upgraded to all inclusive for our last 3 days and we are so happy we did the food choices at every meal were fabulous and very tasty, and the drinks were good measures not scabby measures like some places! Entertainment was good so hats off to the entertainment team... all in all great week in an amazing hotel we will definitely return Collapse
