Having been booked into this Hotel by a friend who lives nearby in Maida Vale I was reasonably happy on getting off the local Tube to see the impressive front entrance which warmly welcomed me through and into its compact but well appointed reception area....from here it soon went down hill.... Rather than be shown to my room , my room was merely pointed to...yes, that is correct , my room was 3m from the reception desk !! No wonder the reception was so small, they'd squeezed a room into it....mine !!!! So , not wanting to be a pain I entered my room and unpacked . The room was obviously small but well appointed so I opened the curtain to allow some light in and noticed my bed that looked like a rough sea at best. Switched the shower on and after 2 then 5 then 10 minutes I could only get tepid water.....hardly warm enough to bathe. The toilet too was very dirty Trying to ring anyone didn't work as the phone did not work. On complaining to reception they put me in another room but said they 'did not have any water problems' ...clearly they did Anyway, once checked into my new room and again no hot water , again complained but told 'we do not have any water problems' . So I boiled a kettle several and a shallow bath was had... I shall stop here as cannot be bothered to comment about other failings but I'm sure you get the message ....lastly was not even asked how my stay was on check out !! 2 Star at very best !! Collapse

A lovely hotel in a good location. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and the continental breakfast more than adequate. However, our room, No. 8 on the ground floor, was disappointing. It had no view, in fact to disguise this the windows were covered and, though comfortable, the room needed a major upgrade to get it up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The bathroom, too, was badly in need of a refit. Next to the lift, it wasn't the quietest and people could clearly be heard in the room above. Collapse
Fantastic location, however not a four star hotel

The location is fantastic! The architecture of the exterior of the hotel is beautiful. The building is all lightened up at night which is nice to come back to. It looks so great on the website, and it could be an outstanding boutique hotel.... But, the glory days has gone - it's in need for a face lift, without a doubt. Definitely not a four star hotel, a 3-star is more accurate. Not sure how to describe this hotel. It gives me the feeling of being in a movie, back in time, and the hotel is the scene. It'd be an amazing Halloween setting for a large group of family & friends, who would book the entire premises, or a Murder Mystery party event. The lift gives you the feeling it's about 150 yrs old, after four days we started to like it, it's quirky, quaint and different. Like stepping back in time. The hotel has charm for sure. It's quaint and eccentric, and it has got something, not sure what word to use... However, a few things to point out which pulls the review down; When the carpet in the room gives you the feeling you don't want to walk on it barefoot, and the shower stream comes out of the hose, instead of the shower-head itself, the very heavy windowcurtain is missing half of its hooks and is about to fall down, one of the first channels on the telly is Adult Channel, and the walls are paper thin and you are hoping the guests next door won't be doing it because it'll sound through the walls and your kids will question: "what sound is that mum....?" The fridge is leaking and water pouring out on the floor. An old lipgloss is found next to the bedside table... Very small room, small bed (two large people would not be comfortable.) Small things like this, but things that should be easy to fix... Aircon was working fine. The windows could open, which was nice. Although small bed, it was very comfortable. The reception staff were lovely, sweet and helpful, and the location is absolutely fantastic. SO easy to get everywhere, all over London. Just steps from Warwick tube station. Easily access to Heathrow airport, in fact; 30 mins from door-to-door LHR Terminal 5. There are just some touches that could be improved. With a bit of a facelift, a lick of paint, some in-depth overall throughly cleaning; this hotel would be very, very nice. Collapse

We booked 4 nights in the Colonnade hotel's apartment - we stayed two nights - after the first night we requested a refund so we could move to another hotel it was so bad! The hotel moved us into two rooms in the hotel, this was better.... but back to the apartment. The apartment is on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors, up very narrow and steep stairs - but this is London..... only a few of the lights on the stairs were working and the window was filthy. 1st floor is the living room and kitchen. The living room was very sparsely furnished, the lounge was filthy and threadbare. The kitchen was very rundown and dirty, the glass doors onto the (very dirty) terrace were in desperate need of a good clean! The kitchen cabnetry was broken and ill fitting. 2nd floor master bedroom and bathroom - the tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and dirty, the toilet seat was broken, it fell off when sat upon and a large bolt was protruding, quite a danger for the unwary bottom. I reported this problem and the next morning it was supposedly fixed, the bolt was sawn off but the seat still slid to the floor when sat upon. The large spa bath looked very grand but unfortunately there was no hot water only lukewarm tepid stuff and no water pressure, it would have taken hours to fill the bath and then it would be cold! Need I add the dribble of lukewarm water in the shower was not a pleasant experience. Which brings me to the towels.... we returned from a day of sightseeing at about 4 pm to rest, shower and change for dinner. They were making up the apartment and took away our towels, when I rang to request towels I was told they would return our towels when they had washed and dried them.... so no shower before dinner....... The shower in the second bathroom didn't drain properly and flooded the bathroom floor. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and the manager was very helpful in moving us to the hotel but the staff in the breakfast room were almost rude they were so unhelpful. Each morning I had to go and find one to order tea, each day I asked for tea with milk each day my tea arrived without milk! Each day I asked again for milk and it was eventually grudginly delivered to the table. Breakfast was adequate but lacking in any options. I would NOT recommend this hotel and I would warn people to stay away from the apartment. Collapse

Stayed for one night as a present from my boyfriend. We paid the upgrade to get a better room however the room wasn't brilliant and quite dark and small. My boyfriend went and asked if we could be moved as it was a special occasion for us and they tried to make him pay another upgrade but eventually they let us move to a better one without another payment. The second room was on the top floor and much better - bigger and a nice view of London. The location is brilliant, two minutes walk from Warwick Avenue tube station. Perfect for getting into central London. We had breakfast included which was ok, some pastries, toast and yoghurt but nothing special. I would not pay the extra for this if it wasn't already included. Collapse
