just got back last night, had a week there , good food and well set out complex. the beer is served in to small plastic cups so a plastic glass that looks like a beer glass would be a good idea. I found your better spending most of your time at the hotel drinking and eating as the local area isn't cheap for food or drink. entertainment needs an improvement and free wifi would help, had a look at the rest of places to stay in the area - this is one of the best. nice staff, the meals are very good and plentiful. As per usual its usually the English who spoil things, most Europeans have a bit of style but as soon as you see some tattooed English this puts a downer on it. On the whole Great place but short drinks like whisky etc taste of nothing.Drink the house wine -big glasses and strong. Martin fox Collapse

Had a 4-night all inclusive trip with flights and transfers. (for 2 under £400 so can't argue with such a god deal). So here goes ... my opinion of a few things of the Hotel I hope people can find useful. Hotel complex has a number of buildings spread over quite a medium sized area. I would recommend having a good look around to find out what's actually there. We stayed mid-March so some of the buildings were not open (which was expected as it was out of season). I was told while we were there that it was the only Hotel open in Arenal that time of the year. We were lucky with the weather as it was only breezy / cloudy on the first day and sunny for the remaining days. Rooms: Air-conditioning in the room seemed to only blow out hot air (despite playing with the controls) but as it wasn't too warm at night we just left it off. Decent sized bedroom. We had two single beds. One big wardrobe to use (safe in Wardrobe but didn't use). Table and a large mirror. Lights over bed, Controlled by switches by bed. Bathroom - Bath & Shower. Shower Hot and Powerful. 2 smalls soaps and some shower gel were there to use (Didn't use as brought our own). Plenty of toilet roll - replenished daily. Big and little towel per person provided daily. Beds comfortable and good pillow. Rooms were cleaned daily - at about 11am. We checked out at 11am the final day but were allowed to keep our all inclusive wrist band on, which was very useful as we weren't getting picked up until 5pm so used the Hotel facilities all day (including food and drink). Drinks: All inclusive drinks were plentiful, served in small plastic glasses but there were no queues and you could have 2 at a time. The local spirits are obviously not as strong as English spirits but we were always served very good measures. All inclusive obviously only available until 11pm but Bars tended to close not long after. Food: Breakfast - Good choice of food. Hot and Cold. Eggs / Bacon / Beans / Toast for those who want a bit of traditional English Breakfast. Cold meats / cheeses / cereals etc. for those who want something different. Lots of fresh fruit available. Little tip - double dip the toast (if you get what I mean) If you like Fresh Juice in the morning don't expect much. Drinks machine's give out Orange / Pineapple / Apple etc. but it's not 'fresh' as you would expect back in England. It's more like a sugary Sunny Delight. (I wouldn't expect Fresh Juice for the price). Unfortunately there was a massive queue for the Coffee Machine in the morning. It wasn't on for Lunch or Dinner but you could get a Coffee from the Bars. At various times the restaurant area was very busy and we struggled to find a clear table but a day in and we could use the overspill rooms (which was good). There was a good choice of food available for lunch and dinner. Hot and Cold depending on preference. There was always chips / rice / pasta available including a good range of sauces for pastas. Being typically English please ensure white meats are cooked through. Pork steaks were undercooked and a lot of waste left. Steak - was probably cheap fatty cuts (but I wouldn't expect expensive cuts) Fish - Good variety and cooked well. Stews / Pasta dishes okay. (Didn't eat much of them - although they did have a beef greenpepper one day which was lovely). Paella / Rice was well cooked. Paella was a Chicken and not seafood. Salad / Cheeses / Cold Meats all good. Puddings - Lot of small cakes. Blacmanges / custards. Jelly and pots of Ice Creams. Lots of Fresh melon (sweet and Water) available which was lovely. Plenty of fresh fruit. Drinks in the restaurant were in small 'glass' glasses. Red / White / Rose wine available. San Miguel and Soft Drinks available. Coke / Fanta etc. General: Mini golf was 20 euros deposit and killed a good hour (in the sun). Sauna & Jacuzzi was also 20 euro deposit but was only for 30 minutes and had to be booked the day before (didn't use). Wifi - not free but cheap. 9 euros for 3 days. Available in all areas of the hotel including your rooms and restaurants (and around the Pool). We were on the 6th floor. 2 lifts always working. Good view of the Pool. Decent sized balcony where we sat out a few times and got a bronzie. Staff were attentive and always had a smile. Although all inclusive please tip the bar staff. Beach: A 10 minute walk from the Hotel down a steep hill. Good for the legs on the way back haha. Beach seems to be split into two. Right hand side is more of a cove. Left hand side is soft golden sand with tide always in and shallow. (Although the Olympic Sailing training was on while we were there - apparently is gone early April - this wasn't really a problem) Most of the bars were closed given the season. We found a Sportsmans Bar open during the days and night. (Turn left when getting onto the Beach) Lots of tellies if you are into the Footy. We had a full English Breakfast there one day. 2 of everything for 6.50 euro (well worth it). Good drinks offers. 5 bottles - San Miguel (10 euros), Bud (12 euros) & Desperados (14 euros) ... we had a few of them haha All in all a good break. Well worth the money. Hope this helps. Just got back from a late booked all inclusive weekend break with the wife. Paid about £100 more to get a good flight but hotel was a real bargain for all inclusive stay. Just like a lot of other people, after reading some reviews we were a little worried as to what we were going to find. We didn't have to be. Firstly this is quite a big hotel complex with a number of hotels on and off site (some were down the road and around the corner). We found it a bit of a lottery as to which one you was put in. Luckily we were in Rio which is one of the newest, and apart from only having a view of a courtyard from our balcony we were fine. The room was quite basic and not very big, but it was quite modern with comfy beds, nice tv and fantastic shower. Maids came in every day, cleaned and changed towels and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We did however hear people in some of the other blocks were not so lucky but it's a cheap resort at the end of the day. As for food, unfortunately the main kitchen in Acapulco had a large fire on our first night so they had to move things to the restaurant in Habana and for a couple of days queues were massive. They then opened a second restaurant in Copacabana and this helped solve the problem. As for the food itself, apart from the night of the fire it was fine with a lot of variety from grilled chicken, fish, pork chops, pastas, salads, Chinese, English and continental breakfast, fruits and sweets etc. Some people grumbled but I don't know why. The all inclusive was from breakfast to 11pm and although most drinks were served in small plastic cups the San Miguel was nice and cold and refreshing. There was also red and white wine, a choice of spirits, liqueurs, cocktails, soft drinks tea and coffee etc. The pools that were open were nice and clean but there was no loud music allowed around any of them which would have been nice for at least just one of them. The guests were mainly old Spanish who seemed quite grumpy. There were also other nationalities but mainly German and we met quite a few really nice people. The entertainment was usually a dj playing music for the old Spanish people to dance to at night but there were a few games in the daytime eg darts, shooting etc which seemed ok. The beach and main area are only a short 5 minute walk but nearly all of it was shut and it seemed very dodgy at night. Airport is a 10 minute 20 euro ish taxi ride away. In summary it was good value, we over indulged and had a good time but will probably not go back. More because of the area than the Hotel. Also I wouldn't recommend it for hen/stag parties etc Collapse

My husband and i booked a quick hol off teletex when we got there we were told we had a room in the anex the sarah the room was basic but clean we went all inclusive the food was fantastic the staff great our only problem the entertainment was geared up for the spanish but i have to say the Entertainer was Brill the area surrounding the hotel very run down while we were there a couple was robbed and someone was mugged as the area has a lot of allie ways so if you do go make sure you put your money and passports in the safe also they seem to put the spanish in the main hotel and put the english in the annex we ask could we go into the main hotel they said yes if you pay 10 euro a night Collapse

Visied here on a lads weekend back in 2014. We stayed in the main hotel which was considered to be an upgrade by my friend who has been here before. Our room was clean and not too badly equipped. Had a view of the pool which was closed as it was early February. Other areas of the hotel were okay and the all inclusive food was as one one expect for a cheap two nights away, nothing to write home about yet palatable. Entertainment was typical Spanish hotel stuff (Flamenco demonstration, rifle shooting, darts etc) Not a bad hotel in my opinion, just don't expect too much and if you want quality, pay for it.
