We were greeted by very friendly staff at check-in as well as the check-out. Our room was in the historic portion of the hotel overlooking the interior court yard. The room was very nice (just as advertised on their website), quite and comfortable. We had dinner & breakfast in the restaurant. Breakfast was fine, based on the price it is a good value for the price charged and the items offered at the buffet. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was not so special compared to the menu prices and ambience of the space. The hotel location is very close to the central station with a fine selection of dining alternatives to choose from. The hotel is on the southern end of the historic city, however the distances are small and if you have endurance or mobility issues there are trams that can transport you to all of the historic venues. Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. We felt that this hotel was an excellent value for the rates paid. Collapse

We visited Avignon as a group for 3 nights. The front desk staff was friendly and the courtyard and building were beautiful. The breakfast buffet worked well and the food was fine. The rooms, however, were a different story. Having been to Europe before I knew what to expect however the design of this hotel (the "new wing" ) was very odd. It immediately reminded me of a prison and I feel sure that the rooms were designed by a cruise ship designer. The bathroom had glass "shutters" that opened directly above one's head in bed. It was very warm yet we could not get the air conditioning to cool off the room. There was no conditioner or lotion even after we requested both-just shampoo. We survived and it was walkable to the main square however the room was just not comfortable for the price. Collapse

We stayed 5 nights here and used Avignon as a base to explore Provence. The hotel is 300m from the train station and just down a lane way from Rue de Republique, close to cafes and boulangerie. The hotel is a romantic building with stone arched cloisters and lovely treed courtyards. Our room was in the new section so we had a balcony as well as a sitting 'room' with sofa and TV, table and chairs. There is a lift but as additional five stairs to our room. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which not everybody is comfortable with but we were ok with it. A kettle and tea/coffee facilities were provided in our room. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Collapse

Great location, very easy to walk to all the sights. Lovely interesting building with room window overlooking courtyard and fountain. Every staff member we had contact with was extremely friendly and super helpful. This hotel is certainly not four stars. If you are coming here for four star quality, this hotel will dissapoint you. You will pay four star price and get 2 star quality. Bedding was bad, bed uncomfortable, pillows extremely thin and lumpy both had sore neck by third night. Heating in room not working. Supplied toiletries almost non existent. Seperate bathroom and toilet (with own wash basin) but you only get one soap. We break the soap in half to leave some at each basin, but the maid throws it out?? Basin leaking water all over the floor. Could not access the swimming pool, but not told at check-in. Cheap plastic cup supplied for drinking water. Tea and coffee making is a tiny kettle, a paper cup and a stick to stir with - not what I would call four star. Restaurant had a lovely setting overlooking the courtyard, we did not use as breakfast seemed very overpriced and dinner not suitable for vegiterians. I would not stay here again, I am sure you could find better value for your money as there are plenty of other hotel close by. Collapse
