We have been coming to this lovely Chateau for over 20 years, on average once every 18 months or so, when we feel the need to extend a day's shopping trip or break a longer journey and they have never disappointed us yet. The food n this latest trip was really good, though for me, the non-fish or shellfish eater, it was fairly limited and have to admit to not being a fan of their basil panna cotta either....really quite strange - but rest of the meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The rooms have been re-fitted in the main house in the last few years to a good standard and the rooms offered in the other blocks are always really nicely presented. Good value and worth booking Collapse

Our 5th visit though the 1st was 11 years ago. Clery hasn't changed much which is lovely as it still has a slightly faded grandeur (it's more really nice country house than chateau!) We opted to go for an upgrade when offered it before we arrived and room 38 was wonderful - loads of space super comfy bed. Bath with hand held shower only though. We've stayed twice on the main building , twice in the Courtyard and once in the Fermettes. All have been fine but 38 probably favourite (followed by centre top floor over looking garden - can't remember number ; was pale blue !) Dinner was sensational both visually and on the tongue, we ate from one menu each , simply because of what we wanted and were both delighted the wine list had some gems if you look for them. Breakfast had good fruits yoghurt small (very nice) pastries (well you could always have 2 if you wanted !) Didn't bother with cooked it's not what the French do best! Good coffee too. We found staff friendly not all over you but willing to chat if you want to. Will be back. Collapse

Lovely chateau with charming rooms. Lovely gardens to have a stroll in. Try the rhubarb wine in the hotel bar. Very good service. Try and book directly with the hotel as booking through other sites can be expensive when you add breakfast and dinner into the price. If you book directly you can get excellent packages that include room, breakfast and dinner. We only found that out after our visit. We'll book next time directly. Collapse
The hotel is an old "château" and has to be remanaged-modernised

We stayed there for our 35 years of mariage, just 2 nights, and we have seen the hotel as an old to much furnished place, where lots of things have to be made in order. In the great garden, there is not lot of accessoires to relax, and there is no swimming pool nor a jacuzzi, in what they call "free available SPA". Inside this park are also 2 or 3 chalets (13 years old) that have no airco eighter, as in the Château itself. It's a pitty. I had many remarks that I transmitted last week orally and written to the direction, before publishing it here. A small answercame: "we thank you and will look to your remarks". That is poor. In each chalet there is underground floor with a very small sauna (bathing suit obligatory !!!) and WC and a great fitness space with lots of machines but very dark inside. Nobody wants to exercice or rea-lax there. BUT, this hotel has a GREAT cuisine (I hope I can comment on that in another review). Collapse

We stayed here with another couple during a weekend trip to France. Overall it was very good, and has replaced our previous favourite in the area, the nearby Hostellerie de la Riviere. Location is good, just off the motorway near Boulogne, 40 or so mins from the Tunnel and 20 or so from the excellent Boursot wine merchants in Marquise. The chateau is set in a large park with a beautiful lawn where you can have drinks. The building itself is elegant but a little tatty. On the whole this actually makes it more welcoming, as it's not as glitzy and pretentious as some places we've been. However our room was really a little bit disappointing. Bathroom was beautiful but the main room was a little dingy and tired, and the bed had horrible 70s style headboards which were a bit stained (see picture). This was a bit offputting. On the plus side the restaurant was great. Not many choices, but what there was was stylish and sophisticated without being overambitious. Very well executed. The service was also way better than you'd normally get in this price range. Quietly attentive and very effective. We were never hurried but never had to wait. Valerie in particular was delightful. At about £ 300 for two for dinner, bed and breakfast with quite a few drinks it's very good value. If they could just spruce it up a bit it would be sensational. Collapse
