My husband & I booked a last minute two night stay in Limerick for ourselves and our kids. The location of the hotel is excellent, it was an easy stroll into town and a scenic walk back along the banks of the Shannon. Our room and the bar/restaurant also has beautiful views of the Shannon. The kids. The kids were very happy. The kids menu was good and the restaurant provided goodie bags to entertain them. The pool is not full sized but perfect for children (although a bit cold on the day we were there). They attended the kids club and were delighted with the boxes of popcorn & drinks. Our room was large but cosy and very clean. It has everything we needed. The service was very good. There was two small hiccups in relation to our booking or during our stay but the staff were so good about it I have already forgotten what they were. Food. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, room service pizza another night and breakfast both mornings. No complaints at all. Overall I would definitely come back. Collapse

Went there for a bite to eat earlier today. The service was awful. Ordered two coffees, a scone and a sandwich. The lady that served us asked if we were hotel residents in a very dismissive tone. We had already thought that there wasn't table service as it took so long for the order to be taken. Then the food took so long to arrive we almost left, twice. Needless to say we won't be back and will show as much interest in the Clayton as was shown to us today Collapse

I stayed here with my husband and daughter on Sunday the 6th and Monday the 7th of August. The girl I spoke to upon booking was very helpful (Kate) and she suggested booking one of their two bedroom apartments as we wanted a separate room for our toddler to sleep in. The two bedroom apartments are fantastic and perfect for families, they were clean spacious and for the price we paid I thought they were excellent value. However, the service I received from one employee is the reason why I doubt I would return. We were originally booked for just the one night but decided to stay on an extra night, on the morning of the 7th I went to reception at 9.30am to book an extra night, the man working on reception (Michael I think) was so rude he hardly made eye contact, just took payment and didn't say a word to me. I let it go as anyone can have a bad day although I did say to my husband how rude he had been to me. On check out he was working again, he simply took my card, grunted €17.00 for the car park and muttered thanks. At this point I stated " Thank you? Are you going to ask if we had a nice stay?" he said I said thanks. I was furious to be treated like this having paid €320 for 2 nights you would at least expect to be asked if you had a nice stay, safe journey, a smile even but no we did not receive any of this from this man. I cannot understand how someone so rude could get a job working as the first point of contact for a hotel. He made us feel like he was better than us and hardly gave us the time of day. Surely you could find someone that actually likes people to work at reception! I would stay here again if this particular employee was not working at reception. A disappointing end to our weekend break! Collapse

We stayed here one night as part of a bus tour with large group. This hotel was a great choice, clean, comfortable, quiet and in very decent location. Room views of Shannon River are great and adds to the stay. The higher you get, the better it is. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. Wifi worked very well, no issues at all. Staff at check in were very friendly and more than helpful for directions with map provided !! The breakfast provided was excellent and more than adequate as well as being very clean/organized. Hl location along river allowed for nice walking area and easy access to town services. We walked easily to stores and eatery, had excellent meal and service at the Glen Tavern just 5 minutes away. Would highly recommend this hotel and would most definitely stay here again !!! Collapse

I called in this afternoon for a tea and scone and happened to ask the Manager (as she was at the counter) for the above. She in turn asked one of her staff to action my request.Having waited over 5 minutes I went back up to the counter to find out that my order had been overlooked. The staff member whom I spoke to did apologise and brought my tea and scone to me thereafter. One bite in to the scone I could tell it was heated in a microwave. Not how I had expected it to be.Also I found the staff (in the bar area) to be lacking in professionalism (too much chit chat amongst themselves) instead of being focused on the customer/s and what was going on around them.Another male member of staff was setting up a trestle table on his own and instead of getting some help was making a lot of noise in the process. Can't say I will be running back to the Clayton in the near future.I would have hoped that my last visit would have mirrored this one.
