I am a Choice Rewards member, and this property is the closest one to the Orange County Convention Center. Some less than stellar reviews gave me pause to book here. I needn't have worried. Is it 4 or 5 star? No, of course not. There's a bit of age showing, on me and the hotel. But everything was clean, functional, and well maintained. No bugs, despite the extremely verdant inner public areas. The breakfasts were nourishing and tasty, and housekeeping was outstanding. I miss digital HD TV when I travel, but that's a general gripe about hotel TV systems in general. SD on the huge flat screen seems a waste to me. Best quirk? An American White Ibis at the next table at breakfast. Collapse

I chose to stay here because it was a cheaper option within reasonable walking distance back and forth to the convention center. The area is safe, well lit and has plenty of crosswalks. The surroundings are clean, well maintained and there are plenty of food options for cheap to rather expensive. The hotel itself is cheap, outdated and has seen better days. If you want luxury, state of the art facilities and amenities, this isn't your place. If you want reasonably priced, decent free breakfast and a clean bed, here you go. The walls are thin. I could hear people talking in the middle of the night. Clear conversations. The bathroom is small. Mild on the light fixtures. There is no closet but they offer a free standing one. The lighting is poor but there's a window. The pool is a decent size for families and was clean. The workout room has a treadmill, elliptical and bike. It gets the job done, if needed. If you're going to the parks, this is a good place to save a couple dollars and spend somewhere else. Especially if most of your time will be away from the hotel. It wasn't dirty. It was just old(er) and a cheaper option. I was okay with both. And yes, the reviews about having to pay extra for juice are true. Free breakfast but juice cost extra. Kinda odd. Collapse
An older value-priced hotel needing maintenance.

This Clarion is what I call a value hotel. It's near the Orlando convention center and rooms can be relatively inexpensive. Good location. We paid about 1/3 for a room here...instead of other nearby big-brand hotels. The price was nice. This is an older property, clean, quiet, with most of the amenities you'd expect in a room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. But, the rooms and hallways need better maintenance. Our bathroom had wallpaper that obviously had been wet, pulled away from the wall, then sagged. The ceiling had been saturated with water damaging the drywall. (See picture.) It was dry during our stay, however, that type of defect should be repaired. The pool was clean and quiet during our stay. The entry key cards did not operate well. It was comfortable for the price. Just don't have overall high expectations. Collapse

We went to Orlando for a long weekend. We like to stay on International Drive for its location to theme parks, restaurants, shops, etc. This property fulfills those priorities. The room was clean and bedding was comfortable. We were able to smoke outside on the balcony, which was convenient. We enjoyed the hotel bar in the evening that has an outside patio also. The staff was friendly. Saw the pool and Jacuzzi and although we did not use it, it seemed nice. They do offer breakfast for a reasonable fee. If you want coffee and a quick breakfast, you can walk to Duncan Donuts or McDonald's. Across from the hotel is the Chocolate Kingdom....delicious place to visit. Not an upscale hotel, but for the price....you get what you pay for. Collapse

Firstly - due to the ongoing works around Orlando it can be tricky to find amongst closed roads, roadworks and nightly shutting down of exit ramps. if you go out in the day you often cant get back the same way later. We had pre-paid for our three nights here (via two bookings as the 3rd night was added on late). on arrival we were told they hadn't been paid for afterall and had been cancelled. After some to-ing and fro-ing we re-opened the booking and paid there and then instead. We also had to sign waivier about how we would not smoke in the rooms or face a hefty fine. On arrival in our room it was very obvious that it stank of cigarettes. surprised, considering the waivier we'd just signed. We phoned reception who apologised but did nothing. Meeting friends, we went out. on return it was still stinking so requested housekeeping to try to clean to room. on return after dinner, the room stank now of lemon cleaner with an underlying cigarette smell. I found the culprit - there was cigarette ashes in the bathroom. for our whole time - this was not cleaned or removed from the bathroom and the room continued to stink. this was seeped into towels and bed linen and after our second night stay - we were locked out of the room. we went into the night desk and said we didn't know why the key would no longer work as we have explained and agreed on check in we'd get the same room for all three nights. fixed the keys, so the room had not been cleaned or made up. the next day we had both housekeeping trying to get into the room AND a phone call to tell us to check out - an hour earlier than the agreed check out time. highly frustrating rubbish place. left saying good riddance. only good thing - free parking.
