The hotel is nicely appointed with a beautifully airy dinning room. The decor is subdued with a certain sense of style. Breakfast is a full buffet serving a huge variety of food that ought to suit everyone's taste. The room was beautiful and the bathroom spectacular (although the bath tap would have benefitted from some lime scale remover). The bed was not very comfortable. It was a king bed;made of 2 singles. Hence a big lump in the middle. Both of our singles sagged towards the lump making it impossible to avoid. It was also rather cold and the heater was placed behind the floor length curtains. So not the best option. Our room backed onto a kind of glass conservatory roof (we didn't need a view so this was fine) but it was lit all night so we needed the curtains closed. The parking was discounted so that was nice and it is in an excellent central location to walk everywhere and working easy reach of both railway stations. Collapse

We stayed at the Harte and Garter for one night for our 1 year anniversary and we truly loved it! Our room was amazing with a large 4 poster bed and Castle view! We even had a personal welcome letter on our desk upon arrival! The room was clean with traditional and modern elements which made it very special to stay in. We ordered room service in the evening which arrived after 15mins which I thought was rather quick for a Saturday evening! The hotel's location is unbeatable, right on Windsor high street. After all the tourists left in the evening it was very peaceful and that's when we truly enjoyed our room with a view! Couldn't have asked for more! We felt very blessed and fortunate, thank you again! Collapse

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and I struggle to see why it is. Firstly, the key to the room, it took several visits to the reception to get a working room card. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but technology really didn't do them any favours. On entering the room my husband picked up peanuts from the carpet- this suggested that the room wasn't hoovered or cleaned properly- the black footprints on the bathroom floor confirmed this. The bed once we sat on this I swear it went boing and donk before my backside was lost in the mattress. Oh my god, I have not had such a soft saggy bed since my 'slumming it student days." I think the mattress was also open sprung so it felt like bouncy castle half of the night. I had the worst night sleep ever and woke with back pain. Now breakfast has healing powers- so redeem yourself Harte & Garter please God save yourself, make breakfast a good one! Oh. Right can't get that right either. Fried eggs looked like plastic, bacon was so dry it was like eating jerky and the sausages were dry they were very hard to cut- so the hard meat products at breakfast gave my arms a workout in the absence of a gym. I think hot breakfast was hot held for a hour or more hence the dryness which is lazy cooking in my opinion and a cook to order will work nicely. Only the beans and the toast were done right...my first cooking achievement at age 4 was beans and toast.... The stay at this hotel was to celebrate our wedding anniversary, I can't say how disappointed I was at the quality of this hotel and how this has left me feeling angry that we paid for the displeasure of this stay. I think this hotel I feel has seen better days, the decor is worn, paint is peeling off the window sills and drafts coming though the window. Collapse
