What a wonderful hotel. We arrived about 4pm, after a three hour drive, and we were met with a cheery warm hello, check - in was quick and we went straight to our comfy room. The room was toasty warm and what a delight as it was darn cold outside. The bathroom had underfloor heating and the shower was roomy. I managed to switch the tv on but I couldn’t get it to go off with the remote so I pulled the card from the electric slot momentarily and that did the trick. We had a quick cup of tea in the room, after a shower, and a mini shortcake biscuit; we were pushed for time as we were attending a function in another nearby hotel, the Mount Errigal. Breakfast next morning was superb. It was certainly very busy but I was a tad disappointed that they did not have any fish choice for breakfast. I opted for porridge and cream with some fresh fruit. I also put some of the cream into my coffee. My wife opted for the sausage, bacon and scrambled egg and she said her food was very tasty. As we wandered back to pack to go (we were just there one night) we took in the wonderful reception and all the Christmas and Santa decorations. We smiled at the transgender toilets near the breakfast room - great to see acceptance for the gay community with Ireland well advanced into the 21st century while Northern Ireland is kept in feudal times by a peculiar religious sect opposed to LGBT rights. They’d take the swings out of budgies cages on a Saturday night if they could to stop them having fun on a Sunday. The good news is that we have this hotel booked for a few nights at the end of January next and our whistle-stop visit has whetted our appetite to stop longer and enjoy more of what this delightful place has to offer. Check out was as fast as check in. Collapse

This is a fine hotel conveniently situated just outside Letterkenny. Ours was a short break and we visited Derry and Glenveagh National Park. The hotel and Letterkenny iare quite convenient for both . We eat there both nights, in McGettigans Bar, this is comfortable and very informal with good food and service, the Guinness was excellent on both nights. We found the staff friendly, courteous and eager to help and will have no hesitation in returning. There is plenty of space to sit around and relax or read, books are available for free Collapse

We received a very warm welcome from the lovely staff , the staff remained very helpful through out our visit 10 out of 10 for them. The room was ok noting to write home about but at the same time very clean and well maintained. The room however was located right beside the cleaners room so from 8am the noise was unbelievable between a banging door and general moving of objects there was no chance of a sleep in. We decided not to complain as maybe Sunday morning the cleaner may start a little later than 8am but unfortunately not .....either way it would not have mattered as the room was so badly sound proofed you could hear every single thing that was happening in the corridor There was clearly a couple of families on holiday together and the kids running and screaming from room to room this of course is bad parenting and not all the hotels fault. Also we found the room quite cold now I know it was a chilly weekend with snow and all the heater was on just not fit to warm the room we even considered sleeping in the bathroom as it was roasting It would be great if a hotel would use a little cope on in fairness and not allocate a non children couple on the same level as so many families or maybe they do and in this case we were just not lucky enough to have been chosen. Overall we would not return as the main purpose of going away was to relax and enjoy a sleep in after long weeks work which is not possible in this hotel well at least not in this room Collapse

Winter blues were setting in and we needed a little break that wasn't going to cost the earth. Spotted Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny on Groupon and it fitted the bill perfectly. Two nights, accommodation only, for little or nothing. Arrived about two o'clock and decided to have lunch in the McGettigans Bar but the menu wasn't what we fancied. lo The staff directed us to the Hotel where a Sunday lunch was being served. It was the largest dinning area I have ever seen , looked more like a holiday camp canteen canteen but with properly dressed and set tables. Was led to our table by a nice young man who explained the fare available. One course was €14.50 and as many courses as you liked for €23.50. We decided to go all out and boy was this a good decision. Soup and fresh bread and rolls were served. All other courses were from the carvery area. We had soup, tempura prawns with side salad , half a ton of beautiful roast beef with fresh veg, selection of desserts and finished off with tea and coffee , again served to the table. Wobbled over to the check in and we were allocated our room. At the price I wasn't expecting much but the room was huge, more like a suite. The bathroom/wet room. was also spacious with loads of fresh towels. Couldn't have asked for better. Obviously didn't need to eat again that day but next morning decided to have breakfast in the Hotel. You pay €12 each in advance at the reception. Again the breakfast was really very nice buffet affair. Lots of fresh fruit , good quality full Irish with freshly cooked eggs. Again good value. Evening Meal in McGettigans Bar(hotel Bar). Monday special 12 oz sirloin steaks with all the trimmings €27 for TWO. Unbeatable!! Any downsides? Room really warm, even with windows open but in fairness I didn't try to adjust rads. Room views front and back terrible. Some small noise from Gym area around tea time but again once you identified the source it didn't bother you. In summary a really nice stay in a really nice hotel with friendly staff and good food. We shall return. Collapse
