The Citadines Trafalgar Square has a great location, just a few steps away from Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross underground station. My room was spacious, which is a luxury in downtown London at this price point, and the bed was vert comfortable. The thing that bugs me about any Citadines is their housekeeping policy. If you are staying less than 6 nights, you need to pay extra if you want your room cleaned. I strongly believe this minimum stay requirement should be reduced to 3 days. I chose this hotel because all my no.1 choices were full, and the Citadines is a no-surprises kind of place where you know what to expect. I would definitely recommend it for the location, and it is quite comfortable for its price point, but be mindful of the fact that it is truly a serviced apartment; it does not have the amenities of a proper hotel. I was put on the 8th floor which is a two story room. Lounge, kitchen AND the only toilet on the lower floor. Then climb a spiral staircase (impossible to carry a suitcase up it) to the bedrooms and bathroom. NO toilet on this floor so if you need to go in the middle of the night you have to negotiate the dangerous spiral staircase. Completely unacceptable and a ripoff at over £200 per night. Collapse

I stayed here for a week recently, and let me start off by saying that this hotel is fantastic. Very good location, lots of cafes/restaurants close by, train station just down the road and the buses go straight past. This hotel is very popular and has a lot of guests coming/going which sometimes makes the lobby crowded, but that didn't matter too much to us. The complimentary coffee/hot chocolate machine next to the lobby is also a definite plus especially in the colder months. The wifi is really good too! Staff were very friendly and helpful, didn't hesitate to do anything we asked. Housekeeping was done very well. Rooms were tidy and well equipped. We were on the top floor and heard no street noise. My only complaints, firstly the laundrette, which I'm sure won't apply to everybody. I expected a bit more considering how much they charge to do washing/drying (I believe around £10 for one load, and believe me you can't fit much into one load). The problem was that there were absolutely no instructions (we searched the whole room from top to bottom) on how to use the machines or how to use washing powder, which was nowhere to be seen. We had to pack up all of our washing, head back up to the front desk only to be told that washing powder apparently dispenses automatically (not sure how?) but then upon asking another staff member he went and got us some washing powder and told us we needed to put it into the machine. Not sure exactly which method is correct, very confusing. Also there is only ONE clothes drier that works properly, the other two will leave your clothes wet after drying for a full cycle (happened to the people before us too). Bit of a money waster there! I ended up waiting until 1am for my clothes to dry. My second complaint was the lack of towels in the room, we were given one towel each for a weeks use (not very hygienic) and no face washers or soap were provided, we had to go and buy some at the supermarket. Apart from these couple of minor issues, I think this is a fantastic hotel and I would stay here again any day. Thank you to Citadines for a great and comfortable stay! Collapse

My husband and I stayed in a studio for a week vacation 2 weeks ago. It was small, but just right for what we needed since we were out most of the day anyway. It was very clean and modern, and centrally located. It's about a 5-minute walk to Embankment Underground. Though my husband and I walked a lot, we used the tube several times a day. The kitchenette was great and there are several convenience stores like Tesco Express etc. nearby, for snacks and drinks. The hotel staff was friendly, professional and helpful whenever we needed help or directions. We thought they cleaned the rooms once a week, unless requested, but about our 3rd day in, we came back at night and were pleasantly surprised to find our room had been cleaned without us requesting it. The breakfast served was delicious. The only tiny complaints we have are that the lighting in the bathroom was not that great, and at times the wifi didn't work that well. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. Because we also traveled to Brussels and Edinburgh on separate days, we couldn't wait to get back "home". It was a comfortable stay, and we would stay there again when we go back to London. We would also recommend it to friends and family.. Collapse

As others have mentioned, the location is unbeatable. Absolutely in the middle of everything. I was actually surprised how nice the studio was. I was given a room on the 7th floor, as requested, and it was quite new and practically arranged. My only niggle is the really bad lighting, I had to make up with a hand mirror on the window sill. But I was assured that this problem will be remedied starting in January. One other reservation is the bathtub/shower. Elderly people or anyone with a mobility problem would find it very difficult stepping into the high bathtub, and stepping out is even more of a reach! But if that doesn't bother you, the room with it's practical kitchen (2 of everything, plus washing-up liquid and new sponge, etc.) is extremely comfortable. It was also absolutely quiet. It's not budget category, you get what you pay for, but perhaps more so than other hotels in a similar category. I really liked not having housekeeping for the few days I stayed, no one coming in unexpected just when you want to take a nap. Anything you need is available upon request, of course. You pay extra. The drinks bar in the lobby is terrific. Very good quality coffee all day and night. There is hot chocolate, tea and drinking water available, too. Gratis. I didn't have their breakfast as there is a Garfunkels and a lovely café across the street. I will certainly stay here again next time I'm in London. Collapse
