Myself and my daughter of 13 stayed at these apartments for 10 nights, 2 weeks ago. It was one of the best holidays we've had. The hotel was beautiful, our superior 1 bedroom apartment was gorgous, beautifully decorated, flat screen tv, fully equipt kitchen, comfy beds and everything we needed for a self catering holiday. The maid came nearly everyday and did a great job. The hotel bar is small and friendly and the staff were lovely there, they couldn't do more to make your stay lovely. Every meal We ate here, which was most nights was beautiful could not complain about any of the food. We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment which included live singers and karaoke afterwards great fun !!! As for people complaining about the walk to the strip, we walked there every day and it took us about 10 minutes not far at all. Our stay was wonderful and we will defernatley be returning to choromar next year so thank you for an awesome holiday. Collapse
Value for money, friendly staff, can’t complain

Location - 4/5 The apartments weren’t located within walking distance of a beach but we’re close by to a mini supermarket and some cafe style places to eat. Just a short taxi away from the marina, Aquazoo, Lidl, McDonald’s, loads of beaches, touristy town, and the ‘strip’ (loaded with bars, restaurants, shops and an arcade). The marina has loads to do - restaurants, boat trips, water sport booking, dolphin encounters etc. The local town has lots of touristy shops, ice cream stands, crepe bars, sport bars, cafes, football shops and a museum. There is also a nearby aquazoo that offer some dolphin encounters, zoo animals and water slides, but it’s not something I personally wanted to take part in. Beaches can be accessed from the town too, with pedalo, Segway and mini quad bike hire right there on the beach. Amenities - 5/5 Each block of apartments has a private pool for only those staying in the block. Each pool is located to the rear of the blocks and is accessed with a key given to you with your room key. Each private pool has a BBQ, sun beds and shade awnings. There is also a communal, heated family pool, with a kids play area, sun beds and inside/ outside seating in the attached restaurant/ bar. There is a mini market in the reception. Entertainment is held each night, including karaoke, disco etc. and animal shows (which I personally will not partake in). Parking is free and available, all round the apartments but it does get a little busy at night. Reception - 5/5 The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They will help you find and book excursions at an excellent price, book taxis, offer advice and discuss your needs. They all have a ‘nothing we won’t do to help’ attitude and we’re so approachable and personal, including kitchen and bar staff. The reception is 24hr. You can book excursions such as zoo visits, coaches to various locations and boat tours of the local caves. They are all reasonably priced, with lots of options from 2 hours to half a day, glass bottom and dolphin viewing to cave exploration and private beach BBQs. The reception was clean and easy to find, and staff gave out good directions. Rooms - 4/5 The apartments were a very reasonable price and the rooms were more than suitable. I stayed in room 209, and this block was more than satisfactory. Easy to access, spacious and clean. The room had a large bedroom with twin beds. Spare pillows and duvets were available in the large built in wardrobes and also had side tables and a dresser. Bedroom lights could be turned off from the bed and power points were plenty. The mattresses weren’t amazing but they weren’t awful. The bathroom had a toilet, sink on a counter, large illuminated mirror, bidet, bath and shower. Again, it was clean and comfortable. The kitchen and living room were together in an open plan style. The kitchen had a fridge freezer, and cupboards were stocked with plates, bowls, cutlery etc. The living room had another single bed, pull out sofa bed, coffee table, tv stand, and a wall mounted tv with modern LED blue lighting around it. The large sliding doors opened up to a small balcony which overlooked the apartments and rear reception area, and had 2 chairs and a table, with a pull out clothes-horse. Hairdryers, tv remote, etc. we’re available to loan with a 10€ deposit and the room had a restaurant menu with lots of choices if you didn’t want to travel far for a quick munch. Miscellaneous Breakfast at the reception was grand - the breakfast included in the B&B package allowed you to choose 4 breakfast items per adult. I stuck to toast, jam and tea, whereas my companion had a full English. Granola and yoghurt, fresh fruit, various fried foods and pastries were also available to order, with a range of fresh juices. There were friendly cats about the neighbourhood that the locals clearly cared about. They were amazing, I loved them and got to pet most of them. They were clean, healthy and clearly well looked after. Visiting the strip at night meant we encountered a lot of pushy staff trying to drag you into their bars. I wasn’t interested in drinking and it was one after another, some running across the road to try and pull you in. Locals all spoke very good English and there were plenty of British style restaurants and bars about, including sports bars and Irish bars. Most places had flashy cocktails on offer which were lots of fun. We struggled to find anything ‘truly portigese’; had we had longer, I’m sure the reception staff could have helped us out. Everything seemed to be aimed at the tourists and visiting Brits. We never felt isolated once. We hired a car from inter rent, the cheapest of the many car hires available at Faro airport. I highly recommend this, as not only is driving on the other side of the road and car an adventure, getting around was far less daunting; we were able to hop in, fire up google maps and go! Fuel isn’t cheap out there, but neither were the food or drinks in all honesty. Expect to pay what you would in the south of England for food, drinks and alcohol; northerners prepare your wallets! Overall the choro mar was a good find and excellent for the money we paid; we would visit again if on a budget. Definitely kid friendly, and it has everything you need. For those wanting a more luxury visit, I’d recommend a proper hotel nearer the coastline, but expect to pay large premiums. For those who want B&B and are happy to trav around a bit, this is ideal. This was our first holiday in 6 year's and also our first holiday without our kids who are all grown up now. Other than being a little our of the way we really enjoyed our stay here, we paid for a room upgrade so we could be in the main building and we were directly above the bar so it was a little noisy on a night but we didn't have the kids sleeping to worry about but we did have a huge balcony. There was also the option of ordering food and taking it to your room if you don't want to cook or don't want to dress up for a meal after a long day of site seeing. Would recommend very highly but be prepared to walk a bit to get to the shops does have a free mini bus to old town but never managed to get it back to hotel again. Collapse
