We booked for the convenience of being so close . Which it is ,the hotel was easy to find ,good parking , no time limits on parking . Spacious room good size double bed , bunk beds for two children pull out for third . Very limited hanging space for cloths , free wifi but limited band width so unable to connect iPad . Tv did not work no signal . Had to pay for other channels . We were given an accessible room ,not that we asked for or needed it . The shower flooded the floor ,the toilet smelt terrible . The two sinkers blocked . The evening meal in the Buffett style dinning was fair but not a great vegetarian selection . Breakfast was again Buffett and a good selection . We decided to book in advance for VIP experience it was advertised as 10% off if booking with hotel package , but when I rang the number the man said Saturday only had one space we were two .and Friday wasn't open as no keeper available . So went on line to see what we could do and it said the Friday was free so I booked it . But of course didn't get my 10% off . All the items add up to a very expensive trip . My son did love it , but I had to question value for money and service offered did not add up Collapse

Have stayed here previously and decided that annual pass weekend we would stay the Friday and Saturday night. Arrived Friday 8pm, lots of parking and unloaded the car. Friendly welcome on check-in, as we had made two bookings through different places had to check in on both days - bit weird. Room was clean (apart from some missed pringles under the 3rd bed). We stayed in the temple summit room, so was decorated nicely and bathroom was spotless. We were a family of five, but only 4 cups and one small packet of biscuits, oh and only four towels - but we managed. Would be nice for some coat hooks though, storage is minimal but then I guess most people only stay a night or two. Bed was on the hard side for me, but room was comfy and warm and quiet. Lovely view of the animal enclosures too. We had a drink in both the bars downstairs and was relatively quiet in the hotel, nice friendly staff. Annual pass discount was nice too! Saturday - breakfast was nice, lots of choice for every taste, but tables were dirty. We went into London for the day and this is ideally located to visit, we had bought travelcards a week or so beforehand, so a 10/15 minute walk to the train station and had a lovely day in London. We had a meal in the Temple buffet restaurant that eveing, we were put on a tiny table for five of us! Floor was filthy, tables and chairs we dirty. Not a huge choice for my kids, thought there would be loads of pasta and pizza, but no. Didn't have much interaction with staff other than when we were shown to a table. Sunday another nice breakfast, went in the park for the day, was a bit poor weather wise, but we made the best of it, most rides were up and running and only a few closures during the day. We never used the pool as we never had time. Overall a good stay, would say that check all the web sites available to find good room deals. We managed to get a room for £111 a night rather than the £175 they wanted for five with breakfast. Collapse

So-so service, and a cockroach

Staff is generally friendly, and has a high tolerance towards children. They deal with all complications that little people bring quite admirably. We stayed there with two families, and we share an average rating based on service deficiencies that are to be blamed on management. For example the bar was not adequately staffed at several occasions, which led to unnecessary wait times. I complained twice to front desk staff that the children-DVD system wasn't on repeat, but nothing would happen (as a result, our kids went on running through the hotel, causing havoc. Same with the candy bar - nobody there at the desk, though we eventually discovered we could pay across the hall at the reception desk. You will encounter the same process/management issues when you leave: Likely, someone in front of you in the queue at the exit barrier will not have registered their car and will not have picked up one of the bar code sheets to open the barrier. As a result everyone will have to wait as long as it takes that person to sort it out via the intercom (front desk staff is not always asking for car details and is not offering the bar code receipts unless prompted). Restaurant and rooms were ok. I would rate them not great value for money, given what Merlin Group is charging for a room though. The rooms are fairly simple, not much storage room. The restaurant menu is good, you find all generic food items a family without any sophisticated taste would be looking for. All very child friendly. The pool is good, with a decent sized swimming pool and a nice splash area. You have to book your slot in advance to avoid being sent away if it's oversubscribed. The Lego hotels, owned by the same corporation, seem to be much better managed. there we never experienced vacated desks and the (free) even entertainment for young guests is much better (at the Chessington Adventure hotels this virtually does not exist) - too bad, since the nearby zoo would offer plenty of opportunities. They did have the characters from Madagascar (Alex and King Julian) roaming the hotel for photo ops, but not much entertainment beyond that, except for the children DVD entertainment area: Unfortunately, out opinion turned from neutral to annoyed when we found a cockroach at same children DVD entertainment area. We did not experience the hotel as particularly dirty, but that experience made us wonder how it might look behind the scenes. The play area is right next to the restaurant and kitchen. Collapse
