To be honest from the moment we arrived it was bad, the booking agent had not notified the hotel of our booking therefore we were arrived and given a standard room. We were really upset as it was not with a view to see the animals as our daughter was promised. Then it just got worse we couldn't book a restaurant to eat therefore the hotel after some hours gave us an option to order food and we could pick it up. By half 8 at night our daughter was beside herself as she was hungry and overtired. We finally got dinner and fell into bed exhausted from trying to book in and get something to eat. To be fair this may not have been such an ordeal had the booking have been made properly by the booking company. It was expensive stay for what it was! I would not do it again and would choose to stay outside of the resort in future. Collapse

Totally loved this place. The whole atmosphere was brilliant. The look was great and the kids loved the animals. The splash area and pool was brilliant and we got the whole place to ourselves. The price is very expensive for drinks etc including water which wasn't great when you have 3 children. There isn't a play area for the children which they should definately invest in. But I would return but would bring my own drinks etc when staying at the resort. Collapse

We loved the room, loved the view from it. Loved both hotels. The kids enjoyed the in room treasure hunt - move the double bed for accurate counting! I am surprised that Merlin has not responded to previous reviews regarding adequacy of treasure prize in the safe. It is so disappointing. We loved the swimming. We loved the temple bar restaurant. Decor is fabulous. A great atmosphere. We liked the buffet breakfast. However there was no full fat milk at all. Not even on request. Sit by the ants. They are fascinating. The sausages are particularly tasty. I enjoyed a cooked omelette the first morning. It did take forever. The children’s entertainment was fabulous. All of this was wrapped in the most amazing Halloween decoration. So much effort. We loved it. For Halloween only we will be back. We ate at the smokehouse. The chicken was something special. This was the only place we wanted to eat at. Shame. I would have liked more choice of high end food, particularly at the hotel. Happy to pay theme park prices. I just like small amounts of quality food. Collapse

Great location, with easy access to Chessington World of adventure, But a couple of gripes. For a hotel that charges over £150 per night for a standard room you would expect that access to the swimming pool at the hotel would be included in the cost, but that is not the case with this hotel unless you book a feature room at around £250 per night other wise you have to pay £3 per person per hour and have to book one hour slots at least a day before if you want to use the pool. The buffet dinner in the Temple restaurant had a very good selection of food to choose from and at £19 per adult and £8 per child is a good price for an all you can eat buffet. Breakfast which is included in the room price on the other hand was not that good, you have to hunt around to find plates to put your food on, on the 2 days we were there, there were no plate by the bread and toaster section and very few plates in the other areas. If you want a fried egg then good luck to you as I only saw 4 fried eggs on our last day, the coffee from the coffee machine was disgusting not sure what it was but not the Latte that I wanted. so stick with the fruit juice to be safe. Entry into Chessington World of adventure is easy from the hotel but if you don't have park tickets then you have to go to the ticket office at the park entrance, as it's part of the same company you would thing that you could buy your tickets in the hotel. We go to Chessington at least once a year and this was the first time we had stayed at this hotel. Not sure I would stay there again, as there is a Hilton only 15 minutes drive away that has a pool you can use at anytime and is free to all guests and the breakfasts are much better and it's cheaper.. Booked a two night stay in the monkey rooms which included 2 days park pass....absolutely value for money especially on the second day when you can access the park one hour before it opens. Food was very good and had something for everyone. Kids like the quiz in the bedroom to open the safe, gave then an hour of pleasure... nice touch Staff really helpful, we have already booked to go again in March we had that much fun Collapse

Being Merlin Passholders anyway when my daughter said she wanted to go here for her 11th Birthday weekend we agreed as we would not pay to get in the park and would get a slight discount on the room. Having stayed at the Safari hotel before we tried this one for a change. The hotels are lovely we chose the Monkey Temple room and the kids loved it. The swimming pool here is great and the on site restaurants okay if a bit pricey. The only downside I have ever going to staying here is the non existent customer service, if you have any problems during your stay they do not want to know and are very dismissive....just hope you don't have any issues.
