We have visited many theme park hotels over the last few years, sadly they don't tend to get it right. GOOD NEWS !!!! Visit Chessington Resort hotel, they actually make it work. We visited in half term so both hotels where fully booked, we have twin 7 year old sons and visited the park during the day although partially open. The park opens fully in March, we visited both days and it kept the boys and us occupied. The staff always have a smile for you, and really try to make your experience enjoyable, Georgia on reception is a prime example, we only ate in the a la carte restaurant and both the managers I spoke to where really keen to ensure we enjoyed our evening. And the food was of a high standard. Our meal was slightly delayed and just at the point I was going to ask, a manger came to us and apologised and gave us complimentary drinks, again excellent levels of service Rooms are spotless with lovely touches for the children, the evening entertainment Also was exactly what the children needed, well done chessington all of your staff should be very proud of themselves, Paul williams Collapse

To be honest we haven't really "done" too many UK theme parks with the kids and we knew before booking that the Animal Adventures for half term meant that most of the park was closed but we had promised the children a treat for excellent behaviour, we wanted to do something a bit special (for us) and it's hard finding places open/not too weather dependent in February. We had a fun day at the zoo and had booked a Temple Summit room and as other reviews state it is great to be able to have 3 kids in the room with you. The theming is full on but a wonderland for the little ones, who found the monkey in the bathroom hilarious. Like others we loved the treasure hunt but couldn't make the answers we found match the safe combination - reception helped us out and soon sorted! It's a fun touch. The smart TVs were fun and my son loved playing chess on the TV before breakfast. The views were great first thing - seeing the zebras out the window in Wanyama. A fridge would have been good and expected in this standard of hotel but a minor quibble. We had a good night sleep and not disturbed by other families during the night. We didn't eat dinner on site - headed for the Beefeater down the road as we have a picky eater but the menus looked pretty varied. Yes the bar prices were hotel prices and choices of spirits limited but it's a family hotel so not surprising. The entertainment was not our bag but others were enjoying it. I thought it could have been cooler in the room allocated and also consider muted lighting for the disco? We headed for breakfast early on advice of reviews here and found it to be a good selection that the older kids could help themselves to and there was plenty of space though this was off peak. The character visits were fun and the staff so eager that they cleared out table while we were meeting one of the Madagascar characters! I was glad to have booked my slot at the splash pool - it does say this on the confirmation email and like other reviewers I recommend it. The pool is fun and while it was busy it wasn't dangerously so and we had a good time. Probably best for 3-10 year olds. There are imperfections anywhere but this isn't the sort of place you stay for adult relaxation! The children loved the extravagance of the theming - the carpets, the lift pictures, the decor throughout. We spent ages watching the animals in the reception area - and it is little touches like this that make it a real experience. The kids were sad to leave and asked to return so I see that as a win. We'd definitely come back for another night - though probably not in the height if summer when it might be a bit full on for us! Collapse

I've visited Chessington twice in the last month and stayed at the Azteca hotel on both occasions. Sadly both have been a big disappointment. On the first, we had quite a few problems. The splash pool, which was the main reason for us coming, was out of action for the whole of Saturday morning. On further investigation it was down to a lifeguard phoning in sick! The room wasn't bad, quite a nice size, but our sleep was ruined by an alarm going off twice during the night. Three sleep deprived children without the swim we had promised them made for a stressful Saturday! the bathroom also had some draining issues and the TV app firstly didn't work on Android and secondly we couldn't get the TV to work either. It made for a very frustrating experience. The process for sorting out activities also seemed like a chore. Nobody really wants to tell you about the zootastic package which is actually not bad value. They want you to pay for the over-priced more expensive packages instead. Different staff seem to give you different information. On a positive note, the service in the main restaurant from all of the staff was very good and very attentive. But when you pay £3 for a fruit shoot, £1 more expensive than appletiser, you can't help but feel you are the victim of daylight robbery. The second time the spa pool was out of action because they ran out of minerals required for the pools to be used, and so decided to prioritise the splash pool. Now this is not an under-subsidised council swimming baths, this is one of the big 5 UK theme parks that is printing money. To have no contingency in place for staff phoning in sick and chlorine inventory management is in my opinion unacceptable. We also had an issue with purchasing tickets for the park. We decided to do this, but were sent to the main queue for collection with the general public, so there is no real benefit unless you purchase their own package in advance. Beware! The 'disco' and other kids entertainment were really poor. Can't really have a disco with the lights fully on! The kids were all getting bored very quickly and the was a stench of sewage that meant nobody stayed there very long. The second time we decided to go for the animal adventures package. Basically they ramp up the price for half term and call it a different name! Very little of the park is open and the zoo section is pretty embarrassing. Overall the value for money is very poor and frankly unacceptable for an attraction of this stature. We did try to complain first time around and were given an email address to voice our concerns to. We did, but received no reply. There were some good points. As I said the staff in the restaurant were good. The rooms if you get a good one are not bad. But everything else feels like you are being fleeced. There are few processes for making the consumer experience enjoyable and the least effort possible at the maximum price possible means we are unlikely to give Chessington World of Adventures a third opportunity to ruin our weekend. I'll start with the positives, rooms are nicely decorated and set up well. Great that there're are 2 televisions in each parts ie kids room and adults room. Food was nice but very expensive in the bar and grill restaurant, however breakfast was awful food was not nice and the temple restaurant is very dirty. Tables very sticky. As for the facilities you have to book a slot for your children to go in the kids pool? On our first day they weren't able to use the pool at all and the next day when we were leaving they could only book in for 9.30 we needed to check out at 10, this caused us to get a late check the by one hour and you have to pay 2 pounds each for a towel. You would think for the price of the hotel you would have all your towels included. Then when we finally did check out my bank card was declined as the hotel had tried to take 12 UNAUTHORISED transactions from my account for reasons still unknown? 4 of the transactions were successful which has cleared my account. Not happy at all there is a premier Inn right next to the theme park too I recommend to stay there instead. Collapse

Fantastic hotel, took my partner for his birthday on Halloween! We spent the day and night doing the park and then moved onto Thorpe park the next day! Awesome! The restaurant was very pricey tho so we went 5mins down the road to weatherspoons!
