We went for a weekend at the chessington azteca hotel I must say the staff there are amazing. A lovely chef called kairon Stubbs in the hotel restaurant made our stay lovely and went out of his way to accommodate my son who was 10. Another member of staff Amy in the swimming pool was so lovely to my 4 year old son stopping and giving him a badge. Nothing but amazement the hotel was lovely the food was generous and the staff outstanding. Value for money and would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Collapse

Had planned a trip months ago to this hotel. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised that we could check in early and took the children up to our room. The booking website des rives breathtaking views of the animals this was not what greeted us. When I was later speaking to the manager he asked if I had called or emailed to inform them I wanted a room with a view? Of course not when your website says rooms come with this. The room was okay but not overly clean and the staff member we asked for directions shook her heads and said no, no and walked away. Know our booking was for two adults and three children however having got into the safe we found two toys inside which caused some upset. Went to book the buffet restaurant for dinner and by 1pm on the day of arrival the earliest booking they had was 17.45 (our kids all under 6). Strangely when we went for dinner the room was half empty so no idea why we could not be accommodated earlier. Went to go to the zoo and found issues with our Merlin passes not being valid on the weekend we were there. This I will review under the park's page as they are separate entities it transpires. I spoke at length with a member of staff who went and spoke to her Manager and returned with limited information and insisted he would say the same as her, this was not the case when I eventually spoke to him. We discussed that this trip was for my sons birthday and had so far been disappointing and the in room TVs were not working and the issue with the view. he transferred us to another room (also not particularly clean with crisp in the bathroom and a shower that was very hot for the children) and the trickle bed was broken. The view Was however improved. Dinner was average with 4 main meal choices with some accompanying sides however for the price paid average is not good enough. Breakfast was poor as although breakfast is served from 06.30 and we arrived at 7 (although when we checked in we were asked to give a rough time we planned to breakfast and the time on our ticket was 15 minutes later than this), there was no serving spoons out for the cooked breakfast, cereal was out and some pastries but no other items. As we were leaving we noted more cakes and pastries, pancake machine and cheeses and meats and other such items were now available. Splash pool was a hit with the kids though our feet were filthy walking around the changing rooms at 8am and there were two showers in the giraffe locker room which led to a queue. I travel a lot for work and am very familiar with lots of different standards of hotels, this one performed poorly over the weekend we were there Collapse

My family and I stayed at Chessington Azteca hotel during October half term. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay until it came to leaving however I shall start with the good. The hotel itself is lovely and clean. We stayed in the Summit room and my children loved the challenge to find the code to open the safe. We ate in the Temple Restaurant and cannot complain, I would say eating earlier paid off (17.30) as everything was fresh, hot and plentiful. My children loved the Halloween entertainment and the staff working it were fab. Breakfast was good, we arrived at the time chosen and again it was as good as dinner. Now to the negative, when we left the room my husband and I failed to notice our daughters had left their iPads on the top bunk of their bed. As soon as we realised at 11am we rang the hotel as we in the park enjoying our time. Only 1 iPad was returned, the iPad which had a passcode. The other iPad which was fully unlocked and accessible was not returned, this I feel is not a coincidence. When we realised the hotel only had the one iPad, I wasted an hour in the hotel trying to speak with a manager to establish where the other iPad was. I eventually spoke with the manager of housekeeping who insisted there was only one iPad in the room. I asked to speak with a manager but to do so on our exit from the park and hotel as to not waste anymore time away from my family. I spoke with one of the hotels general managers who has now carried out a full investigation. By speaking to the cleaner concerned with use of translator and checking with their laundry contractor. No iPad has been found or an explanation of how the iPad which was left at the Chessington Hotel has disappeared. As a gesture of goodwill he has offered us free park tickets, a meal voucher & 5 fast track tickets. It cost us over £400 for our 2 days at Chessington (1 night stay and 2 days park entry) and now on top we will have to replace our daughters iPad. I know we should have checked the room as we left but as other parents will know these things easily happen. I never would have thought that leaving something in the hotel room would mean it would not be returned. The gesture of goodwill is at no financial cost to a company as big as Merlin Entertainments. It is certainly nothing in comparison to the financial cost my husband and I have now incurred not only with our hotel stay, park tickets etc and now on top the cost of an iPad. Prior to my daughters iPad going missing we were considering buying annual passes. Safe to say we won't be now nor will we be returning to Chessington or any other park owned by Merlin. I hope by reading this review I can save another family going through the upset we have, our visit is now well and truly tainted! Collapse

We've stayed at the other on site Chessington Hotel a few times and has been great and decided to try the new Azteca Hotel. Everything was going well on the evening of our stay, and we had planned with our 3 young children that we would go to our room at 8pm so they could watch TV in their "room" for a couple of hours, so they could be up early the next day. To their disappointment their tv was not working, we rang reception and were told they would send someone up, 2.5 hours later and 3 phone calls later to reception each time being told someone was coming up, they arrived to fix our tv. Unfortunately by 10:30pm the children were too tired of waiting and very disappointed that on their only night there they were not able to do as planned, what would have been a simple thing. Their bar was also so busy my husband could not buy a drink, he gave up after 15 minutes of waiting to be served, so perhaps more staff needed. Apart from this our visit was enjoyable. Collapse
