Here for three days of work. Front desk staff just fine and I liked the look of things from the lobby to the old school elevators. Check in was smooth and quick and as I got into the elevator I was thinking it was kinda cool. But then I got to the room. The room was okay, I like the little fridge and the bed was okay. The likes ended there. Bathroom is small, the bathtub is old and has clearly been refinished rather than replaced and it was chipping in several spots. In the room I noticed literally EVERY bit of furniture is bumped, rubbed, and worn from the table tops to the dresser corners. WORN WORN WORN. A table and chair exist in the room but the chair is from the 80's and as uncomfortable as it could possibly be. The work desk has NO accessible plug in. None. Good luck if you need to plug in your computer. The plug in is buried behind the TV so you will have to move a dresser and a fairly small TV to get the plug in. Who deosn't have a plug in or a lamp with a plug in at a work desk? Same for the end tables by the bed. Good luck trying to plug in there because you would have to move the bed as the plug ins are behind the bed. One plug in behind that uncomfortable chair is accessible if you wanna plug in. Or perhaps the bathroom could be used. But that is literally it. One accessible plug in for the entire room that is nowhere near the work desk. The temperature controls in the room might as well not exist. They do not work. My room has been hot for the last three days. Who is hot id Edmonton in December?!?!? My work associate upgraded to a suite on the upper floors and it has been 24 degrees in his room for two days. The answer to the heat? "We didn't think it would be this warm in December so the heat is on" Ummmm so why have thermostats in rooms if their is a central control because the building has an antiquated heating/air conditioning system? The solution for the heat to their suite....they brought him two fans. I'd pass on the upgrade if I were any of you who were thinking about it. The ball rooms here are pretty awesome and I loved the old woods and chandaliers. Very very cool. Bartenders at banquet were apathetic for our function. And for some reason the price of drinks at our function was higher that the price in the lounge. Does that seem wrong to anyone else? The ball room was also freezing and yet the bathrooms were like saunas. What is going on around here? My final issue with this joint is that the TV remote is like something from out of the 80's. It's a big old "On Command" remote. Occasionally it would take me from the channel I was watching back to the Main Menu Advertising. The digitial TV listing's were not accurate and the TV doesn't have a TV listing. I have not been in a hotel that didn't have a TV Guide channel in as long as I can recall. And finally,,,the physical TV channel guide was inaccurate for almost EVERY channel. To me this is apathy, laziness, and disregard for customer service. How tough is it to give us an actual accurate channel listing in the room? I am not saying this place was a nightmare. But with all the comparably priced choices in the area.....I think you can do MUCH better than this. I stay in hotels 30-40 days a year so I think my expectations are not outrageous. It is crystal clear that the owner has NO interest and has not sunk a nickel into the building for renovations. My co-workers all echoed the same opinion as myself. In isolation some of these things are minor. In totality, it was a bit frustrating. A sign in the elevator states Chateau Lacombe is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary. Staying here for three days has made me believe it! Collapse

Room was nice, bed was comfy, multiple pillows for different comfort. Only issue I have is the bathroom. The shower head sucked, the water pressure wasn’t good and it took 5 mins to find the right spot to get the right temp on the handle, it was either to hot or to cold till u found that spot!! Front desk staff were great. Was here for a function and as always the food was great. Free parking and free wifi. Also had a great view just wish we weren’t right by the elevator. Good stay, would recommend to other people for sure. Collapse

We have been to a lot of hotels in and out of Canada. And being able to to say that one basically in our own backyard has been our hands down best experience, is thrilling. The service here started before we even stepped in the front door! From the gentleman valet guiding us to parking as soon as we pulled in, to the lovely woman checking us in. We stayed In a concierge king, so that is all I can reference, but it was beautifully updated, and comfortable and very clean! We had a dinner at la Ronde upstairs and every minute of it was a wonderful experience. Our server Collin (sp) was the perfect amount of friendly, efficient and didn't hover allowing us to enjoy the experience. Amazing. And completed the entire meal for us. The views were unbeatable- being night, the endless lights added the most fitting of backdrops. We unknowingly met the GM in the elevator ride up, and enjoyed a delightful light chat, and thank you for the drink, I hope this Gets back to you. Your staff is incredible, you have certainly gained repeat guests out of us! Thank you for giving us the joy of knowing our favourite new place is in our own backyard. Do not hesitate to stay here, and certainly have dinner upstairs! Collapse
