Horrible stay at this hotel. First we arrive at hotel they give us our room keys, we go to the 18th floor, & our key won't work so back to front desk, the lady gives us a new set of keys, so back to 18th floor & still we can't get in our room. So back to front desk. They sent us to go for a drink at there lounge, service there was horrible. We waited for someone to come get us when room problem was figured out, but no one came. So we went back to the front desk and room was finally ready. My husband gets excited because he has something special in room & tells me this is were my birthday surprise starts, from the room our night beings. So we go up to room and open door & no romance package, my husband was not happy that ruined the whole night. I didn't know what he was talking about due to nothing being set up in room. So he goes back to front desk. They tell my husband sorry we didn't charge you for that so it works out. NO it doesn't work out, because without the romance package that he requested it changed everything. Which means Now No king room or concierge lounge No Supper No Gift box & Chocolates No Sparkling wine No Breakfast No Bathrobes or Slippers No Late check out or Parking. My husband was upset this was all for my Special Birthday out & it was absolutely horrible. With no romance package it changed the whole night. Now we had to go drive somewhere to eat and find something else to do, because the hotel messed everything up. NOW the worst of it. Morning comes and we were looking out the window we notice on the floor was blood, extremely gross. (We were in ROOM 1804) I took pictures I will post, you can look and see what you think. My husband grabbed a cloth wiped the spots on floor, yip blood. Now makes us wonder is this why we couldn't get in room in the first place. He looks at me and starts saying sorry to me because everything went horribly wrong & now blood on floor to top it off. Its not his fault, he was so sweet for trying. So check out time, I show them the pictures and they say that's not good we will take your parking off so they gave 20 dollars off. The manager asks me to send pictures to him and they would do an investigation and get back to us. Still haven't heard nothing Which is what we expected. This will be a birthday I will never forget due to how horrible everything went from the second we got to the hotel. Love my husband 4 trying to treat me like a princess, sorry that none of it worked out, would have been very special if the romance package and room was set up & no blood on floor. I was excited to try restaurant I heard it was so fancy I couldnt believe I was gonna get to go to this restaurant, but that backfired without having the package with our room. So disappointed. I have been here before and tried it again. I now remember why I switched in the past. There is no cooling in the rooms. Manager says oh, I will send maintenance up too have a look, maintenance guy says there is nothing they can do and the whole hotel is like this. They don't turn on AC capability until the summer. The windows do not open. You are trapped. The room is not great, but guess that goes with the price point. Breakfast area looked quite nice with a view. Bottom line, unless you like to sleep in a hot room this is not for you. Collapse

I had to see a few clients I needed to see over a couple of days that were located in downtown Edmonton. Anyone who has driven downtown to Edmonton knows parking can be a challenge. As a result I decided this time to choose a hotel that was downtown, had parking available, and was within blocks of my clients so I could walk. Chateau Lacombe fit this description. For downtown the parking rate was reasonable (daily rate was less than what I paid for a couple of hours the last time I parked downtown Edmonton) and the rooms were quite nice. We really liked the lounge on the main floor. The service was friendly and the food was good. Breakfast was also well done in that there was quality and variety. It's also walking distance to a number of great restaurants if you want to venture out. We had a bit of a confusion with some charges on the final bill. But when I brought it to the staff's attention they fixed it immediately. The fact they fixed it immediately when they realized the situation scored points for me. I will go back. Collapse

we had asked for an early check-in because of an event that we were attending at the hotel. we had been told that might not happen but we weren't told why. Garth Brooks was the reason. The hotel was packed. We had to line up to check-in even though they had 5 people working the front desk. But to their credit we did get into our room by 315 and had time to get ready for our 5 pm event. The hotel is working hard on upgrading items and it has come a long way from where it was but it still is older and dated and a bit tired. A couple of issues - there still aren't enough plugs in the rooms (without crawling under the desk or moving a night stand or the TV stand) for all the electronics and why do they give us one real coffee pack and one decaffeinated coffee pack? do we have to choose which one of us gets to be sleepy on the drive home? The AC isn't adaptable to the quick changes in temperature. It was quite warm in our room as the weekend had warmed up considerably and we could not get the temperature down.. AC and refrigerator on the noisy side. The hotel is in a great location which is why we keep on staying here - that and the staff have been really good. The pricing is a bit on the high side for the style of hotel but not too bad. Collapse
