Had a very pleasant stay here on a Saturday night. Hotel is on the seafront near to the main pier and a 5 minute walk away from all the shops. There's a newly decorated area of the bar to sit in & look out onto the front as well as an existing, more traditional bar area. Food from bar menu is very tasty & good value. There's also a restaurant, which was a bit brightly lit and lacking in atmosphere for us, but the menu looked good. Staff really friendly, especially the guy who I believe was the manager. Nothing was too much trouble. Spa area is nice, with sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was a little bit on the cold side for us to spend a long time in there. There was a live singer on in the evening (started around 9pm), who was very good & sang some classics. Our room was a double and had a great sea view (we requested this). Whilst the bed was large and comfy mattress, it was 2 singles pushed together, so a bit uncomfortable in the middle. Room was good size and clean, some may say a bit old fashioned, but was in keeping with the traditional style of the hotel. Unfortunately the shower temperature couldn't be altered and was a bit too hot for me. Mentioned to the reception staff upon check out who apologised and hopefully passed this on to maintenance. Only other slight gripe about the room was that the only plug socket apart from the TV one, was behind the middle of the bed so difficult to get to and there was nothing near the dressing table mirror to use straighteners (there was however, their own hair dryer here). Breakfast buffet style, lots of choice and very tasty. All in all, a great stay and a place we will be returning to! Collapse

I was on a coach trip with Breaks2go for 5 days. Unfortunately based on the negative aspects I would never go back to this hotel. We were treated like second class citizens because we were on the coach trip. Even though the food was lovely, the restaurant service was so slow, we were never given water or anything to drink until well into the main course despite repeated requests asking for just a jug of water. The service was so slow, I have never been to a place that has served so slowly before. The restaurant staff were really stressed and as a result of this they became very rude to us, especially the older women we were sitting beside. On Tuesday 11th, one of the members of staff was saying things such as "I've only got one pair of hands" and "I have more than you wanting water and I only have two jugs". Despite the other hotel guests who weren't coach trip guests sitting with jugs of water on their table. I was disgusted by the lack of respect for the elderly guests, who were so kind to the staff. Every time we came into the restaurant the supervisor would ask us politely our room number until she realised we were on the coach and would say "You coach trip? Over there" with all traces of politeness gone. I also saw her getting on at 2 elderly guests for not sitting in the allocated coach trip tables (even though half the other tables were empty) Very strange that we were treated so badly considering we make up a significant proportion of the guests. None of the other elderly guests wanted to complain because they were so nice, but we all agreed there was a lack of staff. On the Tuesday night in particular our coach driver had agreed with the restaurant that we would be served before the other hotel guests so that we could go to the illuminations (usually we wouldn't be served until 7 when all the other hotel guests had been served at 6:30pm). For some reason the hotel guests were still served first so we were half an hour late for the illuminations as the service was painstakingly slow, and a lot of the guests didn't even get their dessert. After an hour and 45 minutes waiting some people were only getting their main meals! On the Wednesday and Thursday there was a change of restaurant staff and our coach driver complained and so the service was better. However, I have worked in customer service for 7 years and even if I am stressed I am never ever rude to the customers, especially elderly guests who are just trying to be nice and enjoy their holiday. The youngish bar man was also extremely rude to elderly customers. I was embarrassed to witness his rudeness, it was unpleasant to listen to. During Happy Hour the guests had to ask for the deal before he would give them the money off. There were a couple of nice members of staff that were the saving graces, Hazel the restaurant supervisor and the new male manager who has only been there for a couple of months. However it is not enough to make me ever want go back. Moving onto the room, the bathroom smelled of sewage the whole week and we had the windows wide open and still couldn't get rid of the smell. One of the pillows had mould on it. The layout of the whole hotel is terrible for elderly and/or disabled guests, which is the majority of the clientele. I witnessed so many elderly guests struggling with the revolving front door - this should have been a priority for changing instead of refurbishing the other part of the hotel. The hallways are extremely narrow as well as the lift which makes it extremely difficult for individuals with walking sticks to get to their rooms. Completely inaccessible for wheelchair users or anyone using a walker. Decor is extremely dated. Downstairs has been refurbished which is nice, but there is so much more that needs to be done. On another note, my friend complained to Chadwick and Breaks2go and their response was that they told the Chadwick Hotel not to respond to her and that it was not Break2Go's problem. As a result of this I will never be back and will discourage anyone else from going until the restaurant service has been sorted, the staff are much politer and professional and the hotel becomes more accessible for elderly guests. There were a few pros of this hotel, unfortunately I could never go back to a hotel where their staff treats elderly person so badly. Collapse

Took Nana Jean & her two daughters Lynne & Jill for afternoon tea at the beginning of September along with Archie the cockapoo (dog). We enjoyed beautiful freshly made sandwiches (egg, ham, chicken, cheese) along with a great selection of cakes & homemade scones with jam & cream. Staff were really attentive and made us feel extremely welcome with nana jean in particular commenting on how friendly the staff were. Archie was also delighted with his biscuit & special attention from our server! View overlooking the sea & sand dunes is second to none. Looking forward to our next visit. Collapse

This hotel is a really good place to stay. The ground floor has had a recent refurb and is fresh and welcoming. The landings and bed/bathrooms though are in need of a refurb. Thread bare stair carpets and dripping out of date taps. Nice if small pool, and breakfast is ok. Saying that, its clean and a nice place to stay if visiting the local area.We would stay again, but hope it will have been modernised soon. Collapse

Recently stayed at the Chadwick for a couple of nights, the reception and lounge area has been recently been refurbished and looks so much better than the last time I was there. As usual, the staff were great, from the time of check in to the point of check out. Breakfast much improved with the buffet style, eat as much or as little as I like, key for me is the speed though, in and out quickly to get on with our day without having to wait for served food, but the staff still on hand to help those who wanted some thing else served. The girls had afternoon tea with Prosecco, a bit much for me, but they really enjoyed it and there was plenty of cake washed down with even more tea (or was it prosecco!!) We had one of the older rooms yet to be refurbished, but clean well presented and comfy bed, TV was in Italian, but a nice lad called Iain came and fixed it for us. The second room had a nice new big walk in shower and recently upgraded, very nice. We always enjoy the pool and Sauna the morning after to help recover. Thank you and will be back again. Collapse
