My Wife & I attended afternoon tea on our wedding anniversary, first impressions were quite good the establishment was very clean , spoke to the receptionist who was very nice indeed, showed us through to the bar area were we spoke to a more mature lady who was extremely rude & abrupt. After ordering we ask where shall we sit? She replied ‘where ever we’ll find ya’ . The afternoon tea arrived , the sandwiches looked like a child had made them , when we booked it said assorted sandwiches which we had to choose ?? The scones were stone cold and rock solid. We shall not return as this was possibly the worst lunch I’ve ever experienced. Collapse

I stayed at the hotel on 7 march with a friend on a groupon deal. We were dissapointed on check in to be informed that there was an issue with the chloreine levels in the pool and so it was closed. Luckily it was a lovely day so we enjoyed a walk along the prom. On our return there was still an issue with the pool so we hit the bar instead. We enjoyed dinner as part of the package and the supplememt for the steak was well worth it. We rang reception before breakfast to find the pool was still closed. Breakfast the next morning included a lovely cooked breakfast brought to the table rather than a buffet. The staff were lovely and the downstairs lounges nicely decorated. The areas upstairs we saw are in need of decoration to freshen and smarten them up. Our room was a good size for a twin and was clean. The furnishings were old fashioned though. The bathroom was compact and hidden behind two folding doors. There was only plug sockets at one end of the room. The negatives i have highlighted werent an issue to us because we were only staying one night and had got such a good deal. I wouldnt hestitate to return or recommend, the place had a lovely homely feel. If you want a boutique hotel you have to pay for it, if good service and value for money are what you are after, then stay here. Collapse

We visited this hotel at the start of March for our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the bed (which was 2 single beds zipped together). Bed size is always a worry for me because I'm 6ft5 and don't fit in doubles comfortably. Our room had a ceiling fan which was a nice addition and a good, powerful walk in shower. Due to the awkward shape of the room the TV was in an odd place and because our beds were zipped together, the plug outlets were very difficult to access which is an important thing to a young couple with lots of electronics. The toilet wasn't attached to the floor in our en suite and it seemed the only thing holding it in place was the lino. I also had to fix the sliding door on the shower before I could use it. With mismatching bulbs, lampshades missing, outdated decor and a broken vanity light and hair dryer, it's the little things that made the stay feel a little less luxurious than it should. Our room was situated above the dining hall and on our second night there was a cliff Richard tribute act playing there. The law says that noise levels should be reduced at 11pm.. In a hotel, where people have come to have a relaxing break you'd think it would be earlier, 10pm seems reasonable but in this hotel the music and bass went on until 11.40pm. Very disappointing. The breakfast service was great at the hotel, I really enjoyed the food and they were able to cater to my health condition and provide caffeine free hot drinks. The pool was a nice extra, as well as the sauna and steam room. All staff were great at the hotel and felt approachable if we had an issue. All in all we enjoyed our stay but because of the issues listed I couldn't give this place higher than 3* Collapse

Stayed here last weekend and found it sufficiently good. Got a groupon deal, cheap so wasn’t expecting too much. Think the hotel could do with a refurb but my room was pleasant enough. Bathroom was looking it’s age though. A lot of guests were complaining of the cold at dinner, but my room was fine. Dinner itself was a letdown, hardly any veg and generally tiny portions. We all had to go in at 7pm so took ages to get served, this didn’t work but I learned it was because of the entertainment. I will stay again but think they could do better. Collapse
